I've kept "parachromis" more than the "ampholophus". Broadly i've kept both the genus and as per my opinion the former genus has more diverse personality than the later one.

Haha you could probably get some nearer to you than travel 4hrs bud the petrol would cost you more than buying one from local or even having one shipped
I'm surprised their hasn't been any violence yet but they are juveniles , their usually a very territorial and highly aggressive I had a couple of wild caught ones ( dovii's ) and one killed off all 5 of it's tank mates and they get very large !

Hi there. I have 2 Doviis around the same size. I decided to vent it but I seem to getting a lot of mixed opinions. Can I perhaps send the vent pics to you somehow and you can help with venting?
that big dovi looks a beast even if female keep it wont av to get a massive tank lol as for jag mate iv got belter jag here if you want it about 7” soft as anything like mr wimpy
See told you to stick in there after the probs you had with a few fish , and now ur planning on eating to more tanks and breeding . It's a good feeling isn't it . 👍
The big dovii looks male for sure at this point. Spotting in the unpaired fins, and more spotting on the sides, particularly above the lateral line. Also this is when growth rates between males and females starts to become more apparent.
Nice one mate , looking forward to seeing how everything goes , and having a look at the new jag. My big fella is about 14-15 inches now at a guess, he’s a beast, I’ve never had him out of the tank to measure him, I don’t want to stress him out and I think he’d give me a good soaking if I attempted to take him out,lol.

I will say I think my parachromis dovii was the most beautiful fish I've ever had and saw ! Absolutely beautiful !
