Thanks for the comment. The simulation software also has a feature that you can introduce errors in the inputs and outputs. That is 90% of all of the problems when troubleshooting the PLC. Garry
Hi ! Instead of using shift register method, is this possible to track the objects data, use sensor at each sorting arm and determine if the detected object as to be ejected or not ? I don't know if a method like this exist. Thanks for your share !
Hi HN6 NitroZz, In this example, the color is determined at one point only. This is ideal for the shift register to track. Using a sensor at each of the sorting arms has been done before in a slightly different application. The application was if the conveyor lane was full then the next lane was to be used. An additional sensor was put at the top of the lane to determine if it was full or not. Regards, Garry
We are using a BRX PLC in this application however you can also use the Do-More Simulator which comes with the Do-More Designer Software. support.automationdirect.com/products/domore.html Regards, Garry
I still dont get how you relate shift register with the conveyor...im trying to rewrite this code in control io. Just having a hard time to implement it sigh... But still a very good video 🤙
Hi jhon delion, In this example, I am using three shift registers to track each of the three outputs along the main conveyor. Here is another post with only one output and a conveyor to track. accautomation.ca/plc-programming-example-shift-register-conveyor-reject/ I hope this helps you out. Regards, Garry

I love this video series. Really good job, Gary! That simulation software really helps show the "physical" aspect of the shift register.

What type of education would you need to get into this type of work or job title be?
