The really sad thing about the ending of this season, is that even though Tenzin had the best intentions when he vowed to follow in her footsteps, in Korra's mind it's just more affirmation that she's not needed anymore, and now for the first time from an ally. All the previous times she was personally attacked because the villains believed her role was a detriment to the world. Now, she's been replaced and while she might not see herself as detrimental, she does see herself as redundant.
For someone like Aang who didn't really want the responsibility in the first place, that wouldn't have been much of an issue. For Korra, who's entire identity was always about being the avatar and serving the entire world because they need her, it must be the hardest thing she's ever had to deal with. Way harder than all the physical pain she just suffered.

This episode is really bittersweet but is amazing, my second favorite episode of this show, the first is about to come.
Korra succeeded in the end but it costed her her whole humanity basically, and Jinora became the youngest airbending to earn the tattoos (11 years old) surpassing Aang who earned them at 12 years old.

I think that this moment is when Korra became my favorite series. I was so touched that stubborn, hot-headed Korra was so willing to lay her life to protect the new air nation. Fighting poison and Zaheer without any past lives and pure on her connection with Raava. I was so angry when Aang didn’t want to destroy Ozai after everything he had done. That seemed so selfish. And that is a trait that a lot of people don’t mention about Aang. And don’t get me wrong I love Aang but he is also a flawed character. He was selfish during a time when they needed an Avatar while Korra was to eager to be an Avatar during times no Avatar was truly needed at the start of this series.

It's like putting a DOT effect on an enemy in a video game, just have to wait it out, kite them around a bit.

Imagine knowing that once your father died you were the last person left on the planet keeping a thousands of years old culture alive. The weight of that must have been very heavy on Tenzin prior to him meeting Korra, but thanks to her actions at the end of Season 2 dozens of people who (if this fan theory is true) are descendants of Airbenders who survived the attack by the Fire Nation 150 years ago regained Airbending abilities, Tenzin became the leader of the Air Nation that Aang hoped he would be.

I always got the feeling this was the first time we saw Korra ''lose'' control over the avatar state

Although Tenzin had the best of intentions, I think what he said to Korra was truly cruel. Her greatest fear was confirmed -THE WORLD DOESN'T NEED HER-
The airbenders will take charge of her destiny, while her legs are paralyzed by mercury, she is no longer a demigod, she is no longer an avatar, she is weak and destroyed.

Of course Zaheer is being defensive, he's a pokemon master. Basic pokemon strategy. Poison the enemy then stall like a "beach".

something about lighting bending against the water bender.
pure water is a great insulator for electricity so a master water bender technically should be able to separate the pure water from an impure water mixture and create an insulator layer for protection

you must understand, Korra´s world just crumbled, she lost all her identity in a single blow, her status as The Avatar (she is gravely wound, she is not the unbeatable Avatar that restores the balance of the world in her mind), her place in the world (Tenzin, while meaning well, pretty much just replaced her with the new Air Nation) and her independence (being forced in a wheelchair is never easy, and for people with such get-go attitudes it basically puts them in the worst vulnerability to them)

I don't know why everyone feel like the avatar train and master elements for no reason not all the while they are using past lives skills in the AS, a mean the whole point of being the ultimate bender is because of the techniques & skill the avatar has to master for each element so they only can use the avatar state for power boots etc with past lives skills etc sorry for my English

The thing I'm most confused with is if metal bending is just bending the earth inside the metal...couldn't the earth just come out of the metal if you're not careful? How does the liquid metal move without taking out every earth...?
