I remember this game. Strangely enough, I always found it cool. Not only was the game, and some of the characters a bit wacky (eg. granny), but the music really fit well with the stages too. And the special effects were nicely done. I like this one more, than the bland sequels that came after. 9:03 Axel from Streets of Rage.😲
Formula to beat 1: Angela belt: jump and kick while coming down. 2.Otane: Push back and release long punch when she just enters your punch range. 3. Last boss lady(Oume): Jump forward and kick over her fireballs.
I'm not just seeing AoF and SF2 here, but some Samurai Spirits as well. The bonus stages have Shinryo Kyoshiro's kabuki theme in them, and the shamisen music in Saizo Hattori's stage is very similar to SS music.
Thanks for creating this one... brought lots of old memories. It took me sometime to search for the name of the game. I just had memories of a few of the players and Reiji was my favorite too.
I forgot this Beat'em Up's name since the 90's too... I finally found it when i searched for it in Google with "fighting game with old woman as boss"...😅
Aya ya ya yay aya ya ya yay (4) Matraka matraka Riiiiiii !! 13:18 I remember that I played this game on arcade machines when I was 6-8 years old and until today I remembered that music 18 years ago ... I always wanted to know what game it was until I found it
I can relate to that! I forgot its name since the 90's. I finally found it when i searched for it in Google with "fighting game with old woman as boss"...😅
Wow... The nostalgy!...😊It's been so long since i played this Beat'em Up that i didn't even remembered its name. Finally i found it when i searched for it in Google with "fighting game with old woman as boss"...😅
I was playing this game on Arcade, ever beat with Thin Nen and White Buffalo. I also like to choose Reiji Oyama because he is like Robert Garcia from Art of Fighting, but never beat with him. Everybody always use to choose Thin Nen in my city from Indonesia.
Actually, it did receive two console ports. One for the SNES/Super Famicom and one for the Genesis/Mega Drive, but only the SNES version made it out of Japan.
well that part is rather obvious.. and i don't think they tried to hide the fact they were ripping the SF series, its basically a comedy game like Ramna 1 1/2, think of it as SF2 but without all the seriousness, if you look at it with a broad sense of humor its a really cool game. ;)
That is! I thought i was imaginning this thin nen stage theme, because other videos have the song theme with this stupid theme music in background, but in here it is how i heard it back then, so glad i found your video, this is the version i liked.
Wow, people REALLY just had to spout "ripoff" at first glance. Power Instinct is a parody of the blooming fighting genre at the time. And of course, no one even brought up the fact that this game predated the stage-barrier mechanic way before it was implemented in Real Bout Fatal Fury and Rage of the Dragons. Pfft.
7:49 At first, I thought Annie shouted "Dodonpa" (as in Tenshinhan's attack in Dragon Ball), but I looked up her attacks and found out it's actually "Photon Burst"
Hello, can someone please tell me where & how I can play this game online / download on my Macbook Pro? Any ideas? I Love this game! I used to play it years ago in college but couldn't remember the name until I came across it by accident. Let me know please. Peace! :-)
Probably one of the most underrated fighting games ever
Yes! This was way better than street fighter2
@@Realityunboxed no.
I loved this game. It was so underrated..
Sho was!!! Took some coins from me back in the day
Okay that grandmother character is a nice candidate for weirdest character in a fighting game I've ever seen...
I used to have an arcade cabinet of this game. I remember sneaking down in the middle of the night to play this.
If there's noting else to say about this game, those battle portraits of the characters are very well executed, with the speedy lines and everything.
Love how one of the of levels is a nod to Mortal Kombat with all the fighters in the game as statues.
This might be the only game ever where a grandma is the final boss.
This game is pretty good for a Street Fighter 2 clone. It has a nice oriental theme to it and it should come out on the Wii Virtual Console.
@Conner Izaiah I own the Super Nintendo version of this game.
But its way better
@@Realityunboxed no its not
This game had one of the best BGMs of its era...
I wouldn't be surprised if one of these fighters ended up being a Extra boss in a persona game
I used to play this in the arcade in the 90s.... memories...
That Angela looked seriously cool
This was a very entertaining playthrough. Some of the fights were very close!

Hace rato buscaba este gran juego
Que fácil lo ponen en el demo. Era superdificil. En especial la abuelita. Que recuerdos. Excelente juego 🎮
Está en nivel fácil. Yo lo pongo en hardest, solo me falta pasar la final con Angela y Zaiso. Este lo juega en fácil
90 larda kankimle az jeton harcamadık bu oyuna, favorim Shaolin rahibi idi
Wow, the first one was almost normal compared to what the series turned into.
In my opinion, this version is the best of the series.
Key word being "almost" :D
I'm not just seeing AoF and SF2 here, but some Samurai Spirits as well. The bonus stages have Shinryo Kyoshiro's kabuki theme in them, and the shamisen music in Saizo Hattori's stage is very similar to SS music.
Brings back memories... thank you!
Annie Hamilton (7.15) clearly says "I wanna cash" and "I need that" during her attacks from distance.
giovanni scarfini ✌
Sensacional 👍😉🏆🏅🎖👏👏👏
Granny transforms into girl , who shoots sweethearts from her hands, which put the enemy in flames. Makes perfect sense.
Totally AGREE!! :-)
She makes herself younger. I guess

dude, this game is really hilarious lol
My favorite character buffalo..
Someone has to make a tier list for Ryu clones cause there's so many
Keith Wayne is clearly a Terry Bogard clone! How amusing this game is!

Tatanka tatanka riiiiii
Tatanka is buffle
oscar, loooooool
This is the first fighting game I've ever seen with a kung fu grandma, and for that, I have to commend it.
when i was 8 year Old i use to play this game in gaming shops i forget the name of this game and then after 23 year old i found it on You Tube
I can relate to that! I forgot its name since the 90's. I finally found it when i searched for it in Google with "fighting game with old woman as boss"...😅
A SF2 clone with scrolling beat-me-up graphics. I love the Grandma with false teeth fireball attack. Haha.
I like the red/blue flames!!!
I like the match @ 11:25, no mercy with turning up the heat with flaming hits.
Wow... The nostalgy!...😊It's been so long since i played this Beat'em Up that i didn't even remembered its name. Finally i found it when i searched for it in Google with "fighting game with old woman as boss"...😅
Tiene muchos soniditos interesantes!!
Padricimo juego el de Power Instinct, me gustaría que le saquen un anime, a este chingon juego.
Thin Nen's basically Krillin had he gone thru a growth spurt.
I thought the same thing. I was waiting for the Neo Geo logo to appear at the beginning of the video.
Another game I actually saw in the arcade but forgot about...
It's BOTH, man.
I was playing this game on Arcade, ever beat with Thin Nen and White Buffalo. I also like to choose Reiji Oyama because he is like Robert Garcia from Art of Fighting, but never beat with him. Everybody always use to choose Thin Nen in my city from Indonesia.
Dingdong games 😁
Botak Shaolin 🤣🤣🤣🤣
11:24 - 12:30 flaming red/blue hot match!!!
Is the announcer saying "Bite"?
none of the stores near me must've had it then, cause i sure as hell would have bought it..
Art of Fighting gets so little respect that people can't even recognize its clones. lol... Seriously though I loved AoF.
shame this never got any home ports or popularity, it was actually a really cute silly fun game..
lotusclown77 it did it came out on the SNES and from what I hear Sega too.
Actually, it did receive two console ports. One for the SNES/Super Famicom and one for the Genesis/Mega Drive, but only the SNES version made it out of Japan.
Jogo fantástico.
Também acho! É um dos Beat'em Ups mais rápidos, senão o mais rápido de todos, nos anos 90.
Lots of funny japanese noises. Can't take this game too serious. X_x
I own the Super Nintendo version of this game.
Better than SNK Playmore!
nice
i love the vs sound yooooooo
Wow this is a bizarre game.
What happened to some of the music tone?
Why did you use the Japanese version?
well that part is rather obvious.. and i don't think they tried to hide the fact they were ripping the SF series, its basically a comedy game like Ramna 1 1/2, think of it as SF2 but without all the seriousness, if you look at it with a broad sense of humor its a really cool game. ;)

Atlus rare fighting gem !
Out of all the character.. I love that Shaolin monk.. The easiest combo key for me
How come there's no melody to the music, just the background ambience instrumentals? Is this like an option for the arcade/ROM?
Wow, people REALLY just had to spout "ripoff" at first glance. Power Instinct is a parody of the blooming fighting genre at the time.
And of course, no one even brought up the fact that this game predated the stage-barrier mechanic way before it was implemented in Real Bout Fatal Fury and Rage of the Dragons. Pfft.
Existe alguma hack que dá para controlar a chefe Oume?

These characters should have been in Persona 4 Arena.
nope. it was in the states. hell, i saw it at blockbuster a lot. but i couldnt rent it since it was always out.
7:49 At first, I thought Annie shouted "Dodonpa" (as in Tenshinhan's attack in Dragon Ball), but I looked up her attacks and found out it's actually "Photon Burst"
This was a really good game. The sprites were really good, better than World Heroes, at least.
I say they're about on par.
Minha infância !!!!
15:39 Fuuuu !!
wow, the old lady has many teeth to shoot it so much...
Kira2 diplaystore ada ga bang
素晴らしい格闘ゲーム😊

Hello, can someone please tell me where & how I can play this game online / download on my Macbook Pro? Any ideas? I Love this game! I used to play it years ago in college but couldn't remember the name until I came across it by accident. Let me know please. Peace! :-)

But seriously, good work. Are you going to do all the Power Instinct games? There's 5 of them I believe.
Punk style and background is good

The Super Nintendo version of this game is very good and one I still play today
My fvt game
It's the same lady.
I think I funded Atlus's retirement fund with how much change I spent on this game.
Something isn't right with parallax in this game.
clássic!!! 10
Like cuk
16:22 Krillin cameo lol
My favorite fight is Reiji Oyama vs Thin Nen.
Somebody could tell me if this game runs in Final Burn Alpha emulator?
GeKi-sho-hado
It's funny how many animations are just straight out of Street Fighter 2.
NW330 well for the first player I would say a mix of Ryo and Robert from Art of Fighting actually
This game is an SFII parody.
Thierry Cashew street fighter is a RIP off of other games too.
Joga muito
