    An Orca (Killer Whale) is not a fish, but a mammal. You can tell because fish use their tail side to side and mammals use it up and down. Oceanic mammals like dolphins are more closely related to dogs and wolves than fish. If you watch a dolphin swim and a dog run the way they use their spine is almost identical.

    • @georgemetz7277
      @georgemetz7277 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      (Cant believe he said that) Furthermore, Orcas are dolphins, the biggest ones and all are whales.
      Here's a fun fact, a whale is an Ungulate like giraffes and deer and bison. When they were land animals it's thought they had hooves and looked like a wolf.

    11:50 That's a flying fox, the largest type of fruit bat. And yea there are some fruits that need bats for pollination the way flowers need bees and other bugs. You can see why they call it a flying fox though. They are very canine looking and they behave much the same when tame. Absolutely adorable 🥰

    I was hiking with a friend who was losing his eyesight, trying to help him get in as many experiences as he could before he couldn't appreciate them visually anymore. So we'd gotten up super early and drove out to a trail area I knew but hadn't explored much. It was maybe an hour away in some old growth, mixed with recovered area from an old fire, with a little patchy logging. It was just daybreak and we'd been hiking for maybe 15 minutes. We walked over a low rise -- and BAM! We were almost inside a big herd of elk, still bedded down and sleeping. Three big males stood guard, maybe 20 yards away, by a big slope that was almost a cliff. Jim and I stopped just past the rise, but not down in the grassy bowl. We just watched open-mouthed as the herd slowly woke up, unsettled but not startled, and in slow twos and threes shuffled past the bulls and up that insane slope. It took twenty minutes or so for them all to wake up and head out. No bugling or alarm calls, but they knew we were there. Jim could hear their hooves clearly, but could only see shadows that were big and very close to us, the nearest less than ten feet away getting up from laying in the grass. He was terrified and in utter awe. I wasn't scared at all, actually, was sorry we bothered them, but I also didn't leave. It was fascinating seeing them all so closely, without any panic or fear, just waking up like we all do every day. There were hundreds, and they could have dealt with us handily if they'd wanted to. But instead, we just watched them go through their morning wake up. And they watched us, the big bulls did, until they were gone. Jim was shaking from adrenaline and so we left, because anything more would seem uneventful after that.
    I woke up surrounded by a small herd of bison once, too, out camping, maybe a hundred or so. They were also completely unaffected by my presence, but very watchful.
    And I know a place a half hour north of me where dozens of eagles hunt salmon in the spring and summer. Most of them are bald eagles, but I have seen goldens and those big seahawk eagles with the stray feathers all over their heads. You don't go anywhere near wild eagles, though, especially not a group of them all hunting together. They'd probably just eat you. But with all the salmon, they won't go out of their way to be hostile if you keep a good distance. There's a sandy beach in an oxbow where they all gather and I just keep back at the trees on the other side of the river, 30 yards or more wide when the snows melt. You can see them thinking when they look at you, though. Damned smart birds.

    Fortunately black bears like in the first clip, 99% of the time they’re skittish and scared. I’ve seen them out in the woods here before they’ve always took off running. Unless it’s a mom and cubs situation or maybe they’re starving you don’t have to worry about black bears

    The bear in the truck had northern New England vibes. It probably went in looking for food when someone left the door open for a moment (the bears move fast when they want to), and then it was probably shut into the truck until most of the people in the area could be evacuated to their vehicles. It was then let out, but being a wild animal, it kept shutting itself back in out of fear.
    Source: The black bears live in and around my home, and I have a history of screaming at the black bears, throwing stuff at deer (long-legged jackrabbits, as we call those tall eating machines - and don't worry, my aim is awful), and calling "here, kitty, kitty" to the bobcats. It's a veritable Wild Kingdom up here.

      Hi! I never got bit by a black widow, but I've had 4 Brown Recluse bites. In the woodshop that I worked in we had both, but I could always spot the Black Widow web, which is not a classic looking round web. It's just a tangled up mess of silk with the beautiful spider resting on it. The Brown Recluse however, is so small and light brown that it's impossible to spot.
      Anyway, the first thing you feel when you're bit is the most intense itching imaginable. I mean, I never knew just how much a person could itch until my first bite. You start scratching furiously, just hoping for some relief. I had to force myself not to scratch anymore, lest I start bleeding. The idea of getting bitten in my nether regions conjures up a scary senario! Maybe if I was a perv....

    I live where there are a lot of black bears. A 300 pounder regularly raids my neighbors' garbage and bird feeders. Once there was a mama and two cubs in a tree bordering my yard. I've been hiking for 23 yrs. without encountering one until about a month ago. It just lumbered off. It was a bit uncomfortable but marvelous at the same time. They are very smart and playful. They learn to open car doors, play on children's swings, lounge in backyard kiddie pools, etc.

    When bees swarm, they often take a rest while they're looking for a new place to settle. Apparently the car seemed like a safe place to stop.
    When I was in grade school, we had a bee swarm land in one of the sycamore trees on the green space in the middle of the buildings. The trees were all much too young to support a hive - no holes or anything - but the bees absolutely covered the main fork of the tree trunk. Say about 4 or 5 times the mass of bees in that car. I don't remember seeing them get taken away, though I know the school called someone. I just have this vivid memory of standing far away, staring at all those bees!
    Great vid!

    I'm in California and we've had a bit of an epidemic of people getting chased/attacked by bison and buffalo. In the buffalo paddock in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and in Yosemite National Park the buffalo roam pretty freely. There's been video of a lot of stupid people getting out of their cars and getting with feet of these beautiful creatures wanting to take a picture or a video. Some of them go right up to the animal wanting to take a selfie with it. Idjits! The thing is, it doesn't matter how stupid these people are, going where just a bit of common sense says not to, if they're attacked or hurt, it's the animal that's taken out.

    The bear with the 3 girls, she was really lucky... he was smelling her hair so she probably had scented shampoo. People have been bitten in the head by a curious bear interested in the smell of shampoo or perfume. When you're in bear country you need everything, deodorant, shampoo, hand cream, sunscreen all to be unscented. Also, the 3 girls were separated. They should have slowly moved together to look bigger. You could see the bear trying to pull her away from the others. A curious bear can hurt you just as quickly as an angry or protective one.

    • @Jane-e4z
      @Jane-e4z ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed, it is estimated that a black bear can smell 7 times better than a blood hound and 2,100 better than humans. Unscented hygiene products are the safest thing to use in bear country. Heck, even leaving fast food wrappers in your vehicle isn't a good idea.
      They are very cute and intelligent, but can be very dangerous.

    Fruit bats are also called Flying Foxes. As for the Jaguar running loose, they have, by far, the strongest bite of any of the big cats. It's twice the pounds per square inch of any lion. As for where an elephant could sneak and reach into your window, the elephant in the clip had the larger ears that are found in Africa if that helps. Wild boar are very, very dangerous.

    The honey bee's in the man truck (can't figure why he was driving with them). But here is an explanation from my own experience with honey bees. When a new Queen bee breaks off from a hive, she will take her own colony with her. They will swarm around the queen were ever she lands. They will move around until the queen finds a permanent home. Usually they are docile if they are not messed with during this time.

    Black bears are far less dangerous than the other varieties and a lot less aggressive towards humans. They’re still heavy (100-700 lbs depending on gender, age, and species) and dangerous, but on the list of bears to run in to, that’s the best one.
    You are supposed to make yourself look big around black bears, don’t run, make a lot of noise while looking at them and back away slowly.
    Brown bears though… or Arctic. Now those will absolutely maul you for no reason.

    I litterelly picked womn p t th airport and was taking her home, as I strted out of the car and immediately told her to stay in the car ( she had quicker reactions than I had because I was trying to make sure she was safe) there in her courtyard was a mama and a baby javelin. She asked me why and I told her why...her response was I have lived here 2 years and never seen javelin I told her be careful the moms are extremely dangerous she was sitting on the passenger side in the back seat she opened her door to watch them ,I kept my door firmly shut ( this crazy lady was on her own, is what I was thinking) the javelin left the area I got her safely into her residence 😊

    10:38 I don't think that is a salt water crocodile. The 'salties' have rather pointy snouts. This one is quite broad & rounded. I know, picky . . . picky.

    Where do you live to have an elephant at your house? I live in Thailand. I have been told by locals that it’s common to have an elephant in northeastern Thailand. People have them as work animals. I have to say, I’ve been to NE Thailand many times and have NEVER seen this. So, I’m unsure of the truth behind this, but these were Thai natives telling me this and, yes, I’m sure they weren’t ribbing me. So, I *think*, though I’ve not seen it, the answer to your question is: parts of Thailand.

    For the black Bear my ass would just sit there - they aren’t very violent typically unless defending themselves or cubs. Now if it was a grizzly or something….🤷🏻‍♀️

    Master pollinators, bees, bats some moths and a few other species. World wide food supply will be seriously impactedif we allow the extinction of bees and bats. The primary pollinator of the agave plant in Mexico is bats. No tequila without bats.
