Prophet Isa AS is one of the main prophets in Islam who has a unique story and extraordinary miracles. In Islam, he is considered an apostle of God sent to the Children of Israel and not a son of God as believed in Christian teachings.
The birth of Prophet Isa AS was a great miracle from Allah SWT. His mother, Maryam (Maria), was a chaste woman who never married. The story is told in the Qur'an, especially in Surah Maryam and Ali 'Imran.
The Jews, who were disturbed by the teachings of the Prophet Isa AS, planned to kill him. They conspired with the Roman authorities at that time to crucify him.
However, in Islam, the Prophet Isa AS was not crucified, but Allah saved him. The Qur'an confirms:
"And (because of) their saying: 'Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah.' But they did not kill him nor did they crucify him, but (they killed) someone who was made to look like Jesus to them." (QS. An-Nisa: 157)
According to Islamic interpretation, Allah raised Prophet Jesus AS to the sky and made him a person (possibly Judas Iscariot or another traitor) resembles him. That person was captured and crucified by the Romans, while Prophet Jesus (AS) survived.
