Chicagoan enters the chat: Giordano’s is cool…Lou Malnati’s is better…Pequods is up there as well. Deep dish is def more touristy/special occasion type spots. Tavern style is more of our go-to/regular pizza to hit up (thin crust, cut into squares. but not like the one u had…we got other joints way better) Besides the pizza tho, there’s so much good food out here…def gotta come thru!
Funny, I just wrote my post and then look at yours. I seriously said the exact order with our pizza here. Great minds think alike PLUS let’s face it, Chicago knows what good pizza is. I’m sure New Yorkers will beg to differ but I’m sticking with it. CHICAGO IS PIZZA.

Great video! The restaurant you were at is actual.owned and operated by one of my good friends, Nick. The reason the cheese can stretch has to do with the quality of the cheese. Giordano's is big on product quality.
Chicagoan here. We are very serious about our pizza here. Giordano’s is good but I have to say that most of us Chicagoans have better choices such as Lou Malnati’s, Pequod’s etc. Thin crust or Tavern style we have Vito & Nicks and some others. BUT this is in our home state. Obviously you are in Florida so these don’t apply but for pizza out of state Giordano’s is a decent go-to. JL come to Chicago and experience the amazing, endless options of pizza that we have here. You will not be disappointed.

Lou Malnati’s > Giordano’s for sure. Lou’s has a butter crumb crust. Chicago staples to have is Lou’s, Al’s Italian beef, & then of course, the chocolate cake shake from Portillo’s. 🤤
Thin crust is chicago style. Deep dish is for tourists and for special occasions.
The pizza look like it could use some more sauce but the deep dish look really nice and hearty. The one thing we have in AZ is Lou Malnati's Chicago deep dish pizza. It is heavy but it taste so good. I have to try their regular pie. Yeah you would love Lou Malnati's in Philly.
The other thing you should know, is Giordano is "stuffed pizza" Lou Malnati, Gino's East, and Pizza Uno is "Deep Dish"
Touristy style pizza here in Chicago although we claim it and love it occasionally. Chicago is a thin crust and square cut kinda town. Hope to see you here soon JL.

Grew up in IN and had fam in the CHI. Giordano's is the ish. They're famous for stuffed crust. Legit. We always get the spinach and cheese stuffed crust and calamari with marinara and lemon. Yes it's a dry cracker crust, because the rich heavy pie. CHI deep dish is more rich... buttery and heavier. Try Pizzaria UNO, DUO or Lou Malnaties for deep dish. There is also Geno's east. All legit in their own right. 👍🏾👍🏾
JL I'm from Chicago and still live here. I've been to that Giordannos in Orlando and it is nowhere near the quality of the Giordannos here in Chitown. You have to come to the Chi to get the real deal. You can visit the one in Hyde Park or Downtown off State st. Youre not getting the real Giordannos flavor there.

I had that place on my last trip to Orlando, I’m from Long Island where we got some good pizza. I was not feeling giordanos. The cheese was weird, it’s got pull but not the chew that mozzarella has here in New York pizza(mostly made from grande’) It was a different bite that’s hard to explain. I want to go to Chicago to try Lou Malnatis, Gino’s East, Pequods and lastly Giordanos because I know the home grown quality cannot be matched.
When you come to Chicago you must try Lou Malnati’s deep dish; it’s heads over heels better than Giordano’s pronounced “Gee-or-dah-nohs”. Also Lou Malnati’s thin pizza is great too‼️

We love visiting the Giordano's location in Las Vegas. We get a small deep dish with pepperoni and ham. So delicious 😋 💜💚
Deep dish is mostly for tourists. Please listen to us when we say Chicago natives mostly eat thin square cut pizza. Also try our Chicago dogs, Italian beef, gyros, and rib tips. I personally grew up on J.B. Alberto’s and other local restaurants, but check other comments for the more popular restaurants that Chicago natives love.

LMNO in Philly is doing a Chicago deep-dish pizza (among other styles) I personally prefer Lou Malnati's to Giordano's, but there's so much better food to get in Chicago... Italian Beef, a Jibarito, a "Gym Shoe," tacos (especially the Lomo Encebollado from L'Patron) and yes, even a Chicago-style char-dog - I'd put all of those ahead of deep-dish pizza on your list!
We had a Jibaritos down here in the Dallas/Ft Worth area I was super disappointed when they went out of business! That food was bomb!

Yep, nothing beats east coast pizza crust! Deep dish is a tourist gimmick in my estimation! Lou Malanati’s is a good pizza choice, but that is just my opinion. Opinions are like elbows, everyone has a couple.
It’s the east coast water that gives you the good pizza crust and bread crust! You can’t get a decent hard roll in the Midwest to save your soul! Shows up in crust also.

Chicago's stuffed pizza is for tourist. Real Chicago pizza is made in the neighborhoods. Thin crust, normally cut in squares.
I'm originally from Illinois and have been in Michigan for 37 years an still miss Chicago style pizza. Haven't been able to find it in Michigan.

There is a franchise named Uno Pizza They serve Chicago style deep dish pizza. Its very hearty too.
Maywood and Joliet here, we dont eat deep dish pizza until our relatives come in from out of town. Dont get me wrong, its good but we eat tavern style, cut in squares
If you get thin crust from Giordano’s, ask for extra sauce and for your pizza to be cooked well done. It’s the best that way. Throw some Tabasco sauce on it too 😉
And also you have to try a Italian beef double dipped don’t let nobody tell you otherwise.

Giordano's is a chicago classic deep dish cheesy gooey goodness.. lou malnati's n unos are as well and have different styles n flavor profiles. The dark horse chi deep dish is pequods is a must try

I have had that place in Downers Grove IL. Not the best but it was decent. I prefer the thin crust when eating chicago style. The best place i had was catered by the job and I didn't get a chance to ask where it came from.

Im from Chicago and worked at Giordano's for many years. It's stuffed pizza at Giordano's not deep dish! There's a layer of dough underneath the sauce. That makes it stuffed pizza. 🍕
Yeah, came to point this out. That second crust layer is an evolution, and I'm not sure I like it that (never had it). My first deep dish was @ Mypie in MPLS, and I remember big chunks of tomato, and a fork and knife.

Gotta come back to the lehigh valley and check out Dunderbaks Market Cafe inside the LV Mall (oldest running privately owned establishment in the mall) and Rascals Cheesesteaks that is connected to the Home Depot. Both lowkey great spots that not many talk about. Keep up the great content

Giordano's is somewhat of a touristy spot but they do have a good stuffed pie. Lou Malnati's has a really good deep dish also. A company I worked for a few yrs back would order Lou's at least once every other month! I actually hate them now lol
