    That's right, the horn is still hanging in there...
    So back in 2021 I made a few trips down to Paducah to capture 4K video of their remaining Thunderbolts as they may get "-130d" someday. This one is behind Concord elementary, just off of US60. It's the first Thunderbolt I've ever heard. Famous for its lack of horn bolts, It's only being held together by the horn support brace below, causing the horn to be loose and unstable. I swear some day I'm going to pass by and the whole thing will be hornless. It still has a tinny sound, and lacks that bassy roar you usually hear in a Thunderbolt. That small gap between the horn and chopper drastically alters the sound. I'm curious how it affects the decibel rating. It still has a punch, but it's not the loudest Thunderbolt I've recorded.
    McCracken County tests their outdoor warning sirens every first Saturday of the month at 1PM. Tests are canceled during overcast skies or if severe weather is expected. Tests sometimes get canceled during holiday weekends, but not all. The full attack cycle is tested first, followed by a 1-2 minute silence before a one minute alert/steady signal.
    Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

    I surely hope Paducah will show this beautiful girl some love. These ol' Thunderbolts are too beautiful to let time rot them away! Great video!

    This Thunderbolt sounds strange.
    It is almost like there is a problem with the air flow.

    Sounds good but I wonder if FedSig will ever design a dual tone version of the 2001-130.

    • @Doodlebugthegoldenhamster
      @Doodlebugthegoldenhamster ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not, because dual tone sirens are only used for civil defense, which we don’t really have to worry about anymore.

    Blower not strong enough (i think) this is why it thave chopper sound the most

    • @DSRX100
      @DSRX100  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nah, the horn is just not installed properly. The horn bolts and gasket are missing so there's an air leak between the horn and chopper. You can see the gap when the siren is facing sideways.

      If you're talking about the one that's on top of those apartments, then no. I tried recording it in 2015 and it failed. It got reported. So I went the next month with high hopes it got fixed, only to hear a brand new 2001 down the road.

    Jeez, they'd better just put this one out of its misery (because, let's be honest, what are the chances that they'll fix it?)

    • @childishtombino1275
      @childishtombino1275 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's not really in misery. Aside from the loose horn, it's pretty healthy. I couldn't say how much the gap between the stator and horn will affect output/throw but it sounds effective still.

    • @wigwagstudios2474
