  • Welcome to Hotel**** Comwell Hvide Hus in Aalborg, Denmark. The most iconic hotel in town!
    Big thanks to the reception and kitchen staff for allowing me to document these AMAZING elevators!
    History of the building
    1968
    • The building opens with a total of seven elevators from Danish Siemens. A set of two passenger elevators, one express passenger elevator that goes directly from Hall to the Restaurant on floor 15, plus one service elevator and three dumbwaiters for staff.
    1978
    • The hotel adds two additional scenic elevators to the buildings north end facing the city, a set of two Schlieren elevators delivered by Thomas Scmidt. They serve all floors from Hall to floor 15, Scenic elevators that high are to my knowledge the first of their kind to be installed in Denmark.
    1985
    • All of the four Siemens person-elevators are completely replaced by state-of-the-art KONE elevators, though with the classic white fixtures. The three dumbwaiters are not touched.
    Late 1990s*
    • Stricter laws requires that inner doors are installed in the single service elevator.
    2003*
    • The two scenic elevators and the single service elevator with manual doors are heavily refurbished by KONE with K-Delta fixtures. Possibly this was also the year when the doorbumpers were replaced with sensors in the 1985 KONE passenger elevators
    2016*
    • The three aging KONE passenger elevators from 1985 are completely replaced with new KONE.

      @@WasherFreak17 On your phone, there is a screenreader. On iPhones is it Voice-Over, on Android it's called TalkBack. It basicly tells me what's on my screen and what I am typing. For typing I use a feature which allows me to type braille dots om my phone. It is really quick. But I believe back then, I used dictation.

    Why does this building do not have a 13th floor? I thought that it might be a service level, but it appears that the service elevator doesn't have a 13th floor either. I know that they sometimes avoid the number 13 on purpose in some countries. I wonder why the 1968 siemens elevators where already replaced in 1985. The service elevator still has a 1960's interiour design, with those grey weave pattern wall panels. The doors on the first three passenger elevator seem to open in a weird fashion, first the fully open and then move back to the closing position for about 5cm. It looks like two of the dumbwaiters are not used anymore, the control panel looks disfunctional.

    • @HeritageElevators
      @HeritageElevators  9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      dykodesigns2yt I also wonder why the Siemens elevators were replaced already in 1985. I can't find any reason for that. I think only the right-side dumwaiter is not working. The two others seem to be working. At least i filmed one working. The Center one had it's in-use light on. There is no 13th floor for ridiculous superstitious reasons, something which bothers me and which i REALLY dislike! It's a shame that our sophisticated culture has to adapt to other backwards cultures that come in from outside to stay in our hotels. Persons who are afraid of a number deserve a straightjacket and a padded cell rather than a hotel room.

    • @dykodesigns
      @dykodesigns 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heritage Elevators yeah, in some countries they are afraid of the number 13, thinking it gives bad luck. Of course, it's complete bullocks, but I guess it makes some people feel better.

      @@HeritageElevators It´s the same here in germany with "unlucky" number 13. I took a Paternoster ride in a highrise in Cologne last week and also went from floor 12 directly to floor 14 (and back again a little later).
