Siempre en el alma de las mentes de roca. Cruzaste siglos, y fuiste la voz más curtida de medio siglo. Gracias Lanegan. Donde estés descansa en paz y vuelve a la rueda de la Vida. R.I.P 👏
From living it right? ✌️🇳🇿. A true legend. Respected by anybody with an ear, a heart & a soul & also respected by those artists that are the most respected.
@@iosunemeera2694 gee, yesterday I somehow got caught in a whole lot of Chris Cornell clips, jeez, tough to chase that black cloud away after that. Just try to think what they gifted us with & damn lucky to be able to sup from that well time & again. I think tomorrow morning ill simply read a book in case I end up watching & listening to a few hours of Jeff Buckley next. 😫. I met Mark for a few minutes, intense, interested & open was how I'd describe his demeanour. It was excellent & unforgettable. All of my life I've been a music addict & I like to be open minded & mix it up, yet, like you read on any Lanegan comments section, he is at the crest of that peak, revered, for good reason. I love his imagery, spirit, soul, honesty.
So touching in the deepest way. I am grateful that I met him about 13 years ago . I modeled for his friend who did many of his album covers. At the time I wasn’t very familiar with his music though as soon as I heard it I was hooked . He was very gracious thoughtful et kind despite his tough exterior . A gentleman. As I grew I was able to understand his music more. I am grateful that this wondrous being blessed us
How awesome. Great story. I'm from NZ🇳🇿, and saw him perform down here in Auckland a couple of times in small clubs. Music has been the soundtrack to my life from a young age, but out of everybody, all of the outstanding musicians in the world & over time, it was for Mark Lanegan that I had my one & only "obsessed fan" moment & worked out some schedules & corresponding dates & decided I'd head to the airport on a specific day & try to meet him if I ever was going to in my life. I would never had & never have again, considered even the thought of going to an airport to meet an artist, I kinda felt like a dick but a dick with a mission nonetheless. I set out with a couple of locally specific gifts I'd selected to give him, a Greenstone ring & something with Paua shell, a small wooden box I think, shook his hand, briefly explained the significance of the items, mentioned I was looking forward to & would be attending that night's show, thanked him for all of his music, forgot all about the three CD sleeves I'd chosen to bring & intended on asking if he'd mind doing me the honour of signing them for me, because, like you said, he was thoroughly polite & attentive in that short space of time but he also fixed me with a lazer beam gaze that felt like I was being equally, immediately scrutinised & evaluated while having any possible deception to what I was saying laid completely bare if there should be any. Intense & intimidating if he chose it to be. No doubt a gaze he had set on innumerable individuals over the years in the course of his travels & expeditions with a necessity to rapidly divining any sense of a potential rip off or other risk, while boring into their mind with that focused attention that any ill considered rip off would be at some cost to the person trying it, whether it was a street deal or a business deal. When I thanked him for that moment of time & got out of his space & watched the courtesy vehicle leave I was able to feel in my left hand those three CD booklets I'd never remembered, let alone asked him if he would mind putting a pen across them. The fact Id really met the man who had made this music that I adored & which had also been my choice of music that had pulled me up & over & through some hard times & having those fleeting minutes, when he had fixed his attention 100% on our interaction was way more than enough of a rewarding experience to make a mere signature inconsequential. He had an energy that could have been far more menacing if he had dialed it up, it was a focus that kind of locked you in while still being open & interested , I guess to some degree, because Id been polite because I was interrupting him & approaching his space, got to the point but didnt gush or go over the top fanboy, but simply acknowledged the deep impression, effect & pleasure his work had had on me. Needless to say, his performance that night & on the future occasion was outstanding. A professional & a legend, the likes of which we'll never see again. RIP Mark.
So this was right before Covid hit, man Mark sounds so good, voice and energy are great. Ticks me off to think a stupid virus lands later on and ends up maybe being what took him out, how crappy.
RIP and hoped you enjoyed your last few years in Killarney, Ireland - Strange Religion was my favourite song of yours and I bet Seattle is always very proud of you.
@@CurbBlurbs That's *Ellensburg* . . . and yes, those of us who live in the Seattle area have always been, and continue to be, extremely proud or Mr. Lanegan!!
"I almost called it a day so many times..." I'm afraid he may have this time...all that talent, gone. I always think of Bourdain when I hear this one...
I've always deeply loved "Strange Religion". I once gave him a Greenstone ring from my country NZ, when he toured here the first time & I ran out of time to have Strange Religion engraved on it. Really really really love Morning Glory Wine also. What am I saying? His entire collection pretty much. R.I.P Mark.
A lifetime ago I heard "Alice Said" on 91X Radio out of San Diego when I worked in L.A. It's been a long long road since then with the most amazing soundtrack. R.I.P.
Strange Religion and strange occurrences : Been a fan of Mark 2 decades and was lucky to see him live in my hometown in Greece. Also, around the same time I also saw Mad Alchemy perform for another band in a small venue. The best thing about small venues is that you have a chance to meet the artists, so I kinda talked with both of them, which was super cool. This video is one of the best , performing this song.. Combined with Mad alchemy, reminds me of the art and beauty in this world that keeps us sane... Thanks
Yes so true. Ive never met anybody that enjoys music who hasn't said "Wow" when Ive played Mark for them. He may have had an album called "Imitations" but he trod his own path & imitated noone.

His voice is even better on stage than in the studio. A treasure. Too soon… RIP.
Mark Lanegan for president.
yeah Bro
Lanegan's qualifications? He has MUCH bigger hands than the Orange-U-Tan Man sending love letters in Sharpie to Kim Jung Un, Xi, and Putin...
If Trumps’s president anyone can be.
