Tools Needed
T27 Torx, 11/16, 9/16, 1/2 wrench and 7/32 Allen wrench.

This is my first harley.
I have a 2015 road king.
With the Handel pulled all the way in it jumps when going into first gear so im going through videos and yours are very easy to follow.
Happy to help, just make sure you have a little play in your cable, If that doesn't correct it then it's at the hub. I would believe it's at the pin at the hub needs to be adjusted. If my 1996 Roadking has troubles going into neutral when the engine is running.. I guess it is time to adjust the clutch. So thank you for this video.
Happy to help. Sometimes the older bikes will have a problem with neutral. Try to give it some gas and try to shift into neutral. Or roll the bike backwards to move the tranny and shifting into neutral. If all fails then try the adjustment at the hub. Thank you for watching and your support Mavic. You are the man Rocco!!!! I can't thank you enough for your time and great info on all your vids bro. I just got me a 2007 Road King and *THANKS TO YOU* on some of your vids I was able to do the job. Now I will do this tomorrow because I'm thinking it needs it. Sometimes hard shifting gears after I've been riding. The bike only had 1600 miles so sat around all its life time. I've already put more miles in the last 4 weeks then when I got it. Thanks again.

@@TwoWheelRocco Yes sir! I'm actually going to take you up on that offer! So, I threw the trash and couldn't wait to see the slack. I will still do this tomorrow but I pulled my cable from the clutch lever as you did at the end of the video.. ... ...OMG!!!! I got close to 1/4" of pull!!!! I bet I could fit 3 nickles. I put one and wasn't even close. My question is.. ...since I have that much slack can I adjust just the cable in front of the motorcycle or do I still have to do the same steps?
Start with the cable and see how it feels. Now the adjustment at your clutch hub is to make sure there is proper free play at the hub. check it. Let us know how this works out.

@@TwoWheelRocco Alright got er dun. Went for a cruise and feels good, also noticed it is much easier finding neutral. Before I could but a pain when standing still. So I would catch it before I stopped if I wanted it in neutral.. Now very smooth and easy. Thanks again. Greatly appreciated.

If the clutch is too tight will it cause Clutch to slip in higher gears like 5th or 6th. I put in a new clutch lever and I am new to Harleys.

Okay. First let me say thank you so much for your help and knowledge. I should have checked the oil level when I first adjusted the clutch but when I did that part I said it was still creeping forward. So I ordered some Lucas Oil 20w50 just like you told me to try and when I took the primary cove off this time I checked the oil level and it was low, and grayish black (only 26oz my measurements came out), so I put in the Lucas oil (38 oz by my book) and readjusted the clutch and so far it seems to be doing well. Does that sound right to you????? Thank you so much for your help.

I have a question please. I have adjusted the clutch like the video but my cover had a o ring in the cover and the one I ordered that said fit my 2009 RK was a solid one like you have in the video, does it matter which one is used?
Usually it will have the gasket, but you have the O-ring so I'm not sure what primary derby cover you have. As long as it goes on smooth and there's no interruptions in your primary cover, you should have no problem. Let us know how that works out. Ride safe and have a great day Scott.
Thanks again for sharing, any help would be gracious, (trying to adjust my clutch on 2016 Road King inside the primary case) my center nut inside cover of my primary case is deep & can’t get to it to adjust clutch without stripping the center nut and still holding the Allen wrench screw, could I use an impact (battery operated) to try breaking the nut loose and is everything spinning inside the gonna mess everything up? Any help much much appreciated.
Try placing it in gear and see if that impact would work you won't hurt nothing. Let us know how it works out.

Good evening. I have a question. I installed 18” apes on my 2014 road king non abs, I wired the bars internally with heat shrink, however my right blinker and oil light on the dash stays illuminated but when I put it in gear the oil light goes out. I also have no neutral light now. I pulled the wires back out to check for any disconnections or breaks and have found nothing. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

Do you have a video on changing the clutch pack on the road king???
I have one on doing the clutch friction plate and steals on a super glide. The only thing that will be different is the clutch pressure plate removal tool. I'll send you the video. th-cam.com/video/voJYSsp-t9s/w-d-xo.html. you will need the clutch hub removal tool.
i did all this after adding new cable and it still has bike creep bad . what can i check ? please any help

At the 4 minute mark you said to give the allen 1/2 turn. But I could swear I saw you bring it back to the original position. Am I missing something here ?

Okay. So I followed the video and adjusted the front on cable out and adjusted the clutch inside with a half turn back out and retightened the nut and put cove back on and adjusted clutch cable to a nickel play, but it still doesn’t want to go into neutral and still wants to creep forward. Could I need to adjust cable more out? I bought this this a little bit ago, so could it be primary oil needs to be changed? He said he had that done but you never know and I thought could it be that also causing this. If I have to I will go back an readjust it all again and change the oil. 2009 RK

Sounds like your plates and steals. I'd say you steals are warped from miles. I would change the oil, but it sounds like, You should take apart and inspect. clutch hub, and steels.

I adjusted my clutch a few times because I didn’t like how it felt but seems like I keep getting more slack in the cable every time I adjust it
Happy to help, double check the hub pin, then go to the middle adjuster adjusted. Where the handle has 1/8 of play between the lever and lever mount . Any questions just ask, I like to engage the lever five times and take another look. lock up everything and that should work out. Let us know how that works out. @@TwoWheelRocco I went back readjusted it didn’t let all the slack out of the cable set it all until it seeded pumped the clutch lever it got firm then let all the slack out completely then completely restarted the clutch adjustment process….seems to be a lot better now thanks

t y for the vid. Just had HD install a new clutch assembly , with a new 1.4kw hp starter. was getting those nail bitting kick backs, sounding like the engine is destroying itself. get it back, now cant find N, when bike is running, when its off, slides right in?? call stealer. tells me i have to"brake it in"..I did a clutch adjustment just last week, and i only gave it a good 1/4-1/2 turn( like a large friction zon,elike it all the way out), changed primary fluid to Formula+(only 26 oz on softails), and i only get it, when its real hot, when im putting bike away..lol.( jugs reading 265 deg). please give me your expertise, ty, brother .Richie from Queens,ny

@@TwoWheelRocco hey brother Rocco thank you for the response, the other clutch slid right in they replaced it because they said that the teeth on the ring gear were destroyed and cracked ,from the kickbacks from the starter ,I just did another adjustment , with the lever all the way loose touching the grip a little resistance, half turn out ..1/8" at the perch,beautiful adjustment. find neutral no problem now, little hard clunking gears ..but like you said new clutch got to break it in right... thank you again ride safe enjoy.
Do you have an email? I like to send pictures of my old clutch to see what you think about them. However I did replace clutch with Barnett clutch and I replaced the Diaphragm Spring also with Barnett Spring. It shifts great now almost falls into gear and I can get neutral and it has quicker response. No more creeping forward lol.

Just picked up a 97 RK and man the linkage is all loose and when rolling up to a stop sign after pulling clutch in it still wants to edge forward 🤔

Maybe you can suggest, I have a major issue, last night coming home from work (7.5 miles of lights & stop signs ) I had a hard time finding neutral when initial start up while gearing up with helmet & so forth.. and had to start it in 1st & let warm up,,,then when almost half way home I had a hard time up shifting & down shifting & the bike didn’t sound normal, when I got home I said “something isn’t right “ told my wife, when Bike (2016 Road King) is running & I have clutch pulled in, also the bike wants to start moving forward when clutch is pulled almost all the way in. I know there’s only supposed to be about an 1/8” gap on clutch cable ,,,, mine has about 1/4” gap on the cable when checking the slack. My brain is telling me something major is wrong, it doesn’t sound right & I’m able to shift gears without bike running but the “ignition run switch is on position” & I’m not pulling in the clutch handle … any recommendations would be so appreciated.. also hard to find neutral while bike is running & gears are hard to change while stopped (clutch pulled in) & engine running..

I solved that problem, I can find neutral & change gears except now my clutch handle (lever) has to be almost fully out & released before clutch engages..and now my RPM’s are running different, if I were in 3rd gear for example I’d be running roughly 3000RPM’s and now that 3000RPM is putting me in 4th gear.
Also, never thought about it but with just ignition on acc (not actually turned on & running) I can change gears without pulling in clutch lever,, I’ve always had to pull in clutch lever in order to change gears into neutral…. is that normal?
@@babybugspaw7085 sounds like the clutch is getting a little worn. And it is normal with a motor not started, that you can switch gears and go into neutral. That is very normal there is no pressure on the transmission because the motor is not running it kind of acts like being in neutral or the clutch engaged. Hope that helps. Ride it and have fun.

I have a 2000 road king FLHRI and I loosened the clutch cable all the way, but I can’t for the life of me get that nut on my clutch to turn loose. I even used a hole thru socket to try and get the nut on the clutch loosened up but I can’t get it to budge. Any suggestions?

@@TwoWheelRocco wouldn’t the penetrating oil cause problems when mixing with the clutch oil? Also when I tried a 1/2 ratchet the bike just rolled forward. It seems to be really stuck on there!
@@taylored.creations looks like somebody put red Loctite. And penetrating oil at such a small amount will not cause no problems. But if it's red Loctite you're gonna have to put heat on that to melt the red Loctite. Half inch ratchet with a half inch bar should do it. you can remove the C- clip and take the whole piece out. Let us know how it works out patience, you'll get it. Go look at this video I show how I remove the seat clip for the clutch hub it's very easy.
