Hundred times better, Becca, because you did it. You worry too much about what others think….that’s because you are young. Believe me, you will get over that. Would love to see even more of your progress 💕
A Million Dollar Home, Nz here, have been following you both for a long time! Proud of you all! Congratulations, people would love to be able to do the same as what you are building!
Your cabin is looking great, Becca. I can only imagine when you are settled in, winter time, seeing as far as you can through the trees, some wildlife walking around and little Henry smiling, having the time of his life. Just amazing. You did a great job cleaning the stove. Free, usable things, always welcome. Take care, God bless you all!!
I love, love ,love the cabin. It is looking awesome. Y'all's hard work is paying off. The appliance pant is hit and miss. I've had it work on a washing machine and not work on a stove. It looks great. Cleaning it made a ton of difference. Okay now for your garden . I've been gardening for 10 years and I'm in Alabama, so cold is not a problem but heat and lack of rain is. So what I did is ask others in my area what worked best for them. This year was my largest garden ever. There is a channel called simple living Alaska, with Eric and Angie their gardens do really great in Alaska. Maybe they would share information about what plants they have had success with. I am so very proud of you both. You both work so very hard at making a better life for you both and for baby boy. I wish I could help with money or send you guys gifts but right now I'm living with both my elderly parents and I can not work because of this, so money is tight. I pray for y'all everyday and wish only the best for you all. P.S. BECCA GIVE THAT FATHER IN LAW OF YOURS A GREAT BIG HUG....😂
Have y'all thought about adding a mudroom/entryway to front door to mainly keep out the cold winter air directly going i to your cabin plus kick off your muddy shoes/boots ?
I think you guys work really hard all of the time. Your building your future together. My Aunt advised me in my 20's to 'do as you please, always, there are too many critics out there ❤😂
Becca, you have an amazing family and I can’t wait to see the progress for the future. Henry will have an awesome future growing up there in Alaska with such amazing parents and Grandparents.
Love the work you are doing on your cabin. It’s looking so good. You are both very hard workers. Not easy working and still have a baby to look after. The oven turned out great. I know it’s easier said than done but try and not worry about those nasty comments. You are both very hard workers. Should be proud of yourselves. Can’t wait to see when it’s all finished
We remade a grill and repainted with the high heat paint when we found it falling apart on our farm 18 years ago. New glass too. Still going and it's a great grill that was almost free! Smart to do when you can!!! Everything looks great!❤
Love your cabin by the lake. Your famlies dream is coming to fruition with all your hard work. Thanks for taking the time and effort to film so we can follow your journey.
Love watching your Channel, find it so Relaxing, Cabin is Absolutely Beautiful, and Views to Die For, Becca ignore what other People Think, there Opinions DONT Matter 🥰🥰🇬🇧🇬🇧
The cabin is coming along nicely!! and I feel you guys with the pressure of teams dropping and have to get ready for winter!! Summer is just to short.. so much to do and so little time! But, strong work to you all!!! 💪
I started watching your channel right after you moved to Alaska and just want to say what a phenomenal job you’re doing! Henry is going have an amazing childhood ❤❤
Everything is coming along nicely! You have all gotten a lot done over the summer. Most important is you are dried in for the winter with a heat source. Time for wood!👏👏👏
Hi Becca, Levi and Henry. I love the batting and board skirting. The stove looks great. Get a paint made for appliances if you redo. The flat black is popular now. My son just bought a new stove and fridge in a flat black. Henry is a real trooper hanging out on your back. Will you use under the house for cold storage? Next year you can concentrate on a better greenhouse. Plant only what you want to eat. Have you considered solar panels for the future. Start small and add to them each year. Have a good week.
I really love your videos. You two are great in many ways. I wish you prosperity in your adventure in Alaska. More film of Henry he’s so cute. You rock momma carrying that chunk around while doing everything too! 🙂
I've seen most of the homesteads in Alaska are going with raised bed just because the soil in them heats up faster then putting your plants directly in the ground , that's just a suggestion
The stove looks so much better with the good cleaning job. Was wondering did you guy’s put a door on the underpinning? Maybe I missed that part. Good job you you and Levi and not to forget about dad. He definitely was a life saver helping you guy’s get as far as you have. Sending lots of hugs and kisses to little Henry. He is growing so fast.❤
I know comments help the monetary income for you. So, I am gonna try and help every video. 1st, yes, they make high heat glossy paint, it's what people use on engines when they "doll" them up. Glad you didn't paint more than you did. The enamel finishes on appliances, just doesn't hold paint very good at all. Levi, the way you put your top piece on the cabin, Looks like a good place for water to roll over the log, and in between, going to the inside. I'd put some water proofing on that top piece, and then caulk it. Also, a lot of "up north" Alaska and Canadian folks are using that bubble foil type stuff and are very happy with it. That would be something pretty cheap to insulate the inside of your crawl space. That. or foam board would be my choice. A few tomato plants is plenty for just having some fresh tomatoes, but, if you wanna can stuff, tomatoes are very versatile. I usual put in about 50 tomato plants, and make spaghetti sauce, and soups out of them. Both are awesome for a good, quick, hot meal, esp during the winter cold months. A real time saver, and just like during the summer, there are plenty of chores to do, just different ones! So, it helps keep down the cook time for a good meal. The Peppers are easily stored. I just chop them up, and put them in vacuum bags. Just put into a bag, how much you'd use for a meal you'd use them for. Also a big ingredient for the spaghetti sauce! If you can grow beans,I'd recommend blue lake bush beans. They will start producing in July, and continue as long as the weather permits. Here, (in NC) I get 9-11 weeks worth of picking. I pick like every Thursday, of each week. Canning is easy, and fun, just have to get started. Market place is a good place to find a canner (or two) Used jars, and other than that, you only need a stick magnet for getting lids out of boiling water, a jar grabber, to take the canned goods out of the canner. Also, Jars can be expensive, esp up there, so again, Market place is a great place to shop for such stuff. The internet is a good place to learn how. I referenced it a few times, after my mm passed, just to get details such as pressure, for what food, and for what altitude, and what type of food. A canning book will be your friend. Potatoes, Grow as many as you can. A root celar will be handy, but, until you have one, and also what my Mom and dad did, dig a hole, line it with plastic, put down a layer of lime(powdered type) a layer of potatoes, more lime, and just repeat. A board to cover it, and plastic over that. Now I ave a question...(in jest) How did such an ugly goomer (Levi) get such a beautiful lady, that would move off grid like this, and is such a hard worker(have to be tough as well), doing all you do, AND carry a baby on her back as much as you do! ??? Seriously, you are beautiful, he's a very lucky man to have found you! The cabin is, AWESOME, I love it. I can't wai to see all you two do with your home, and, your property!
I used appliance paint on my canning stove! Worked out well for me! Other paints omitted fumes at high Temps. That's why there is such a paint as appliance paint... high temp and food friendly!!
You are so close 😊. Your subscriptions are going to continue to grow as I originally predicted! Great job on all the videos & editing Becca. Ev1 had pepper problems this yr sweetie 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Looks like some nice rustic wood skirting! Will you seal in the gap at the ground some way to keep drafts and rodents out? About that generator, maybe the guys could move it about 50 feet away and use a heavy duty extension cord. That loud racket can't be good for their ears all day, just an idea from a guy with hearing damage.
Looking good, the skirting around the house is finishes. Solar panels looks in place and even here in Charleston South Carolina fall is early. Leaves are turning colors. We are wondering, will we have a very cold winter. Henry is cute as a button. Plus he is growing. Have a blessed week as you guys continue to get ready for winter.
I think the oven looks great and as long as it works you will get lots of use out of it. Good job. The cabin is looking awesome, can't wait for move in day for you all.
After you scuff it up it's better to apply a primer then paint. Then your paint will last and not peel off in a year or two. And you might should have covered up the eyes before you put soapy water around them. Water is soaked getting to the eyes gas won't come out and you'll have to wait forever for it to dry.
There is an appliance spray paint that is shiny. It uses very little paint. It goes on really well covers most everything but it’s called appliance paint. I’ve only bought it in white, but it may come in colors, but it makes it look really well. I have a white storm door that the dog scratches so every spring, I spray paint that panel looks like a brand new door so see if you can find out or let me know when see what I can do
They make appliance paint in spray cans. It’s not quite as durable as the original paint, but I got about 5 years on a stove top before it started looking bad. Less if you clean with anything abrasive. It will be glossy.
Hi Becca and Levi, You guys are doing such a good job. I love your cabin, and the size is perfect for you guys. I love the wood skirting as well, it adds a lot of character but must ask, will you have some kind of protection for rot and bugs especially termites if Alaska gets termites. Thank you for sharing!
We'll be staining it in the spring when the weather is warm enough for that again. Unfortunately, our stain needs over 50°F for 24 hours to dry, and we just aren't that warm anymore.
The bed frame with storage underneath is a great idea. Always need someplace to tuck things away. So much progress. Your "to do" list is getting shorter and shorter.
It's looking great! I like the skirting and as has been mentioned try not to have dirt touching it due to rot. Something I've meant to ask but always forget, Does the pond have fish in it? If not is it deep enough to winter over fish?
On your skirting around your home. If you can dig out a few inches below the skirting and fill it with some kind of washed rock. Maybe river rock if you have access. Its important you have good drainage so water doesn't soak up into the skirting. Avoid using dirt if possible? Looks great!!
Cabin is looking great! Nice find on the oven. You did a great job on it. Love the skirting. Amazing how content Henry is just hanging out on your back. Thanks for sharing
Yes! Insulated and then sheeted with white painted plywood. There's a light and outlets down there, too. Someday, I want to insulate off a room for a makeshift root cellar and water storage.
Really nice build and beautiful property!
Hundred times better, Becca, because you did it. You worry too much about what others think….that’s because you are young. Believe me, you will get over that. Would love to see even more of your progress 💕
Comments can be brutal, so thank you for your sweet comments. ❤️
That skirting looks great. Kind of tedious to put up but is so valuable. Henry is so interested in everything that's going on around him. Thanks
After being in the workplace for 43 years I got to admit one of your best weapons is to not worry what other people think.
Your cabin build has been the most beautiful I have seen. Stunning
I can't hardly wait to see Henry running around his new home. Beca you are a good mom .
A Million Dollar Home, Nz here, have been following you both for a long time! Proud of you all! Congratulations, people would love to be able to do the same as what you are building!
Your cabin is looking great, Becca. As long as its clean and works well, thats what matters.
Have y'all thought about adding a mudroom/entryway to front door to mainly keep out the cold winter air directly going i to your cabin plus kick off your muddy shoes/boots ?
Possibly someday!
I like the skirting going around your cabin. The views from your cabin is so beautiful!! Each step getting closer to moving in exciting.
I think you guys work really hard all of the time. Your building your future together. My Aunt advised me in my 20's to 'do as you please, always, there are too many critics out there ❤😂
Henry is SOOOOOO big and cute!!! Love seeing him and his antics!!!
Sure wish this was a hour long video ❤. Awesome video. Love how calm Henry gets when he sees himself in the camera ❤

The skirting looks awesome with those planks of wood.
🙋♀️❤️. Flats good! Looks nice! Doesn't show finger smudges!
What is Levi's fathers name. He and your husband are such a Blessing.
I've seen most of the homesteads in Alaska are going with raised bed just because the soil in them heats up faster then putting your plants directly in the ground , that's just a suggestion

We did! It's really hard to see from the outside but there's a "door" piece of plywood on the inside where the live edge is nailed to it.
You are very hard workers and the house looks fabulous.💕
I love love the house skirting. What a neat idea!!❤
The skirting looks awesome with the live edge boards..Cabin is coming along nicely
I love everything about your little cabin and property!
A beautiful home in the making ❤
Start lining the walk up to the house with rocks and bigger ones to define the path
I absolutely love the way you did the skirting around your cabin🧡💜
Love the skirting!!

Build a open top box and place it around your generator. The noise goes up and lessens the noise.
Leaning leaning safe and secure from all alarms,
Great job guys it is going to be awsum.

Hi Becca and Levi ..Congratulations on your new cabin build and the stove ..looking beautiful!!😇🌻🙏🌈✝️☮️👍🇺🇸🍁🎃❄️
A Mr Clean Eraser works well on a stove top.
I love the skirting!
Beautiful Cabin and the stove looks great

I think the oven looks great and as long as it works you will get lots of use out of it. Good job. The cabin is looking awesome, can't wait for move in day for you all.
Good job on the kitchen range. You were wise to leave well enough alone on adding more paint.
Get you some apalance paint it works great on stoves and Refrigerators
Can't beat free.

Always top your plants when they start budding. The plant will put energy into the fruit instead of leaves and buds!!
Hope you are going to construct an access panel for your crawl space!

We did! It's just hard to see lol which has pros and cons. 😅
❤❤😊😊
Nat has verses Propane has. !😇
Will you eventually get a bathroom in the cabin ?
👍♥️

Did you insulate under the cabin?
Yes! Insulated and then sheeted with white painted plywood. There's a light and outlets down there, too. Someday, I want to insulate off a room for a makeshift root cellar and water storage.
You're not doing like THAT are you Becca? Couldn't resist lol
There's many reasons my poor spray painting abilities were not captured. 🤣🤌
@@beccanlevisalaska It looks great!
Ok please build a hatch for under the cabin so you castore things under there
The grills in the oven may be discolored due to high heat , so just get them clean, n.o one will see them in the oven
Do you go fishing at the pond ❤
We do when we can! Which hasn't been much this year. There's pike and trout in it.
