Which US Senators/Representatives own stock in Boeing, and are they on the committee that chose to give them not only the contract price, but also an extra $1.4 billion to deliver something late, that doesn't work? That is heavier, but doesn't have cargo space? Crew Dragon was ready 4 years ago, so why throw more money into a company that can't even maintain it's airplanes? Lobbyists should be outlawed.

Boeing is the problem they have implemented the very same tacticthat gave us the 737 MAX over their whole company.
Instead of testing all systems physically they test all systems one by one in digital simulations.
So you dont get the stress of everything working together.
Frankly i believe that the Starliner needs to be completly re-engineered from the base up.

      *AEROSPACE ENGINEER HERE:*
The answer is: Nobody listens to us.
      Its really that simple.
Look at this story as an example. Do they ask an engineer to come on and explain it NO.
We make the cameras, lights, microphones, transmission gear, TV sets and computers you all need to have a job.
We also provide the electricity to power all of it.
Do we get any respect from the media for making their jobs possible? NO
Do we get any respect form anyone that the lights are turned on or you can sit there and read this on a computer designed by engineers, powered by engineers with software written by engineers?
NO - like so many others you just whine that we aren't getting the job done.
I am so sick and tired of all the people who aren't engineers interfering with engineers, interfering with how we do our work, interfering with our careers, and telling us how to do our jobs when they have no idea what our jobs are.
      As for education and training.
Forget it, the clowns with economic degrees and MBAs wrecked that like they wrecked everything else they have touched for the last 50 years. Did you ever bother to stop and think that when engineers were NOT interfered with that we went to the Moon. Then once the Reaganomics and Thatcherism economics revolution arrived that it started to slide and slide and slide.
I have been trying to tell people in my home country (Australia) we need to build new power stations. We all know we need them but EVERY PUBLIC DISCUSSION involves academics, economists, celebrities and all sorts of people *EXCEPT ENGINEERS.*

The fact remains that the NASA and the contractor were fully aware the now-stuck spacecraft was having the helium leak and thruster issues prior to its launch, and yet they just went ahead blindly shooting it out into the space.
That reminds one of the similar scenario when the Space Shuttle Challenger was launched and then blew up later, where the NASA and the contractor were also fully aware, prior to the launch, that there was a leak in the gasket in the ring that connects the two segments of the rocket, which was prone to explosion and fire hazard. Yet, the NASA just went ahead and shot the Challenger into space blindly. The rest was history.

8 day mission. Were they returned? No
NASA/Boeing can't garrentee the Starliner will correctly orientate for reentry and we all know what a mission looks like when a craft reenters without heat shielding. So they are effectively stuck because of a potential to burn up.

So why did Julia Sega imply there is some kind of problem with one company being more or less competitive with another company by saying: "the problem is if they choose Space X as the savior that is going to strengthen their (SX) dominant position". This seems very political considering there is a real problem to address here. Is this more Boeing mentally concentrating on cost and optics again? Let's just get these guys back without jeopardizing these rest of the station crew and allow the embarrassment to Boeing be a useful lesson so they can lift their game.
