this is scary as i work in a college campus as a nurse aid for disabled students. I walk to the laundry room alone at like 3am. So many young kids out jogging and stuff starting around then. I can't imagine something happening to them

We carry 2 phones, 1 GoPro Camera, Several bottles of water, 1 Mossberg 9 mm semi-auto, 1 Smith and Wesson 357 with large game rounds, and one can of bear spray........ We pass a lot of single young college age girls hiking with nothing but a phone and maybe a little dog. ..... My wife and I always look at each other and say "She's gotta be outta her mind". ........ This case made me stop walking alone at night, even in a safe neighborhood and even carrying pepper spray. I now drive to a community park where there is an open track field and where there are multiple youth soccer teams training at the same time with their coaches and parents all around. There are also joggers, bikers, and people running around the track as well. I am a nursing student as well so this hits close to home. RIP Laken.

Ladies, I really dont think running alone is safe, especially not these days. I dont care what time of day or night it is. Too many of these same stories have been happening. I never walk alone outside unless it's a very short distance. Always have some kind of protection on you at least.

This case made me stop walking alone at night, even in a safe neighborhood and even carrying pepper spray. I now drive to a community park where there is an open track field and where there are multiple youth soccer teams training at the same time with their coaches and parents all around. There are also joggers, bikers, and people running around the track as well. I am a nursing student as well so this hits close to home. RIP Laken.
