After heatwave conditions the past few days, evening thunderstorms finally brought some relief from the heat and much needed rainfall. A typical summer weather pattern in Bloemfontein and central South Africa.
I went to South Africa over Christmas in 1995. One of my memories from Christmas Eve was the thunderstorm in Ermelo on Christmas Eve. I turned 10 years old on that trip as well.
Been living with such storms all my life. Central and eastern south africa gets a lot of severe thunderstorms during the storm season and just 2 days ago there was a tornado near Ermelo.
