I love that he's as wise as an old man, but there's still that child-like enthusiasm in him that makes him so perpetually interesting and lively
I know, right? He's got that enthusiasm or mannerism of kid, yet at the same time he'd speak words that are very profound or sagely (like his answer to Stephen's question about what happens when we die during one of his last appearances on the show).
I love how we coincide in our internal struggle with stopping ourselves from jumping off ledges every time we are near one. Why does this happen to me? same with knives

Stephen is great at getting Keanu comfortable enough to get him to share. One of the better interviews with Keanu Reeves.
It shows you don’t watch enough chat shows. You don’t watch Keanu with Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Graham Norton, James Corden and Jonathan Ross. Some bring out the comforts side of him and some bring the naughty and fun side (Fallon+Norton). Colbert is the worst of them all.
I would strongly disagree. This is, in my opinion, a total opposite of him being comfortable. Keanu is clearly anxious around him - he barely even looks at Stephen. His movements are stiff, he seeks the audience for comfort and support. The previous interview (2019) where Stephen (inadvertently) made light of Keanu's deep answer to the question "What happens when we die?" is probably to blame. Burnt interconnection bridges.
You should watch his interviews with Graham Norton.
@@kaarliitys I didn't see this clip that you are speaking of. I only see two videos other than this one. He seems find in the other 2 videos. Though Stephen brings up a photo Keanu setting on a bench, maybe that brought up some bad memories, but that clip was after this one. At then end Keanu looked relaxed.

Breath taking. Best thing about Keannu he doesn’t have a gimmick. He’s just a guy living his life and he doesn’t pretend to have the answers or being enlightened. Love this man as a human being.

What Keanu is referring to is "the call of the void," which is a real psychological phenomenon and a concept in philosophy. It's not necessarily indicative of depression, but is, as I understand it, kind of an expression of human curiosity. Obviously you shouldn't jump off tall structures, but exploring the part of your brain that is curious about what it would be like is interesting.
Absolutely. 50% of the fear of heights is your brain not trusting your body to not jump over the edge.

It's related to a similar psychological phenomenon with a very fun name: "The imp of the perverse" which refers to the compulsion to do something that you know will have disasterous consequences (not necessarily for yourself) based not on any impulse to cause harm, but rather simply because it is possible. For example, having a strange compulsion to push the priceless, fragile vase off a table to watch it shatter on the ground... not because you have any desire to destroy priceless things, but only because the awareness of the power you have to cause such destruction of value with such a simple gesture draws you toward wanting to do it. Like the call of the void, most people are able to control these compulsions and then later wonder why they even felt them, but some people, especially those with a more chaotic streak to their personality, might be more susceptible to the impish compulsions.

My dad was an engineer at bank 1 plaza downtown Chicago . For New Years he’d take us up on the 80th floor rooftop and we’d look down on the fireworks. Ever since then I remember always imagining how it would be to just make a few quick leaps and I’m seconds be falling to my death. And how much of an impact those few feet and seconds would make on so many lives. The rush gets intoxicating . Thinking about how quickly it could all be over really makes you feel more alive than ever!

I've been his fan for over 30 years. I still remember checking every week for his interviews in magazines and making copies of them in the library because there was no internet.
So many times he was considered a joke and not a serious actor, just a face. People constantly stepped all over him, yet he never attacked back, nor be bitter about it. He just marched on and now everyone is finally truly seeing him for what he is. I am just soooo, I mean super proud to be his fan for this long. It's like a glowing badge I wear.

Keanu is great at action and comedy roles. Drama isn't his strongest role but I could careless about that since I generally avoid drama movies.

I have a weird nostalgic, sentimental love for Keanu. My dad died when I was young but he LOVED Keanu. We have almost all his movies, the good and the bad and my dad pretended to be Neo all the time. Every time I watch an interview or movie with him it just makes me smile.

yeah I really didn't think that at all... I felt like Keanu was nervous as fuck, and probably drunk or on something and Colbert wasn't grooving with him at all.
Colbert is just a few months older than Keanu.

I just posted a similar comment - coming from my experience of dealing with, well a lot - ptsd, anxiety, depression - (the reasons WHY I have these...) - people are laughing? when what he is saying is very wise - mindfulness - living in the moment - "you can't think of the fear, ... you have to deal with it, absorb it, and then just be there and DO, and that's what we did" - wow, that is life summarized - that is life skills that are actually taught
