Man I’m so glad you guys made this channel, love it so much. Jason is a monster fish wizard. He even brings out the fish wizard in John who goes on random tangents staring about fish and ending with an iron board or a story about a couch he moved. John is also very knowledgeable but gets distracted on being funny, and I’m so glad Jason is so smart he makes John’s brain work at a higher pace, and shows all the wisdoms he also has to spread to all the fish nerds(me) that love the info! Great job guys and appreciate collaboration
Nice insight into how the stores get the fish. My LFS is terribad, most fish die with a week, just outside the warranty. And the last time I went I was repulsed by the conditions, it is all about a quick sale with them. I did find a nice 3 or 4 store franchise that has knowledgeable fish staff and well kept fish, though a couple of the Big Box stores are pretty good as well. I look forward to the quarantine and break the internet video.
You two are the Dukes! Ayy Number One. It's such a fun, educational, and comfortable listen. I hope you're getting the views this podcast deserves. Movie quote time! President: [fires machine gun at the Duke] Ayy! Number Onnee! You're the Duke! You're the Duke! [stops firing] President: You're the... Duke. [quietly] President: You're... A-number one.
Got me on that one. Here is my oddball quote: KIX morning news update. Mok's promise to rewrite rock history was prematurely and tragically interrupted last night when an overwhelming power surge totally destroyed Carnage Hall and blacked out the entire city. Survivors described the destruction as "evil," "spooky," and "wow, bad karma, man."
I had my first ich breakout after 3 years of fishkeeping from not quaranting a new sorority. Thankfully I didn't lose any of my fish but lost 6 of the 8 I was bringing in. Never again.
I do have to holler out about the bird thing, I always allowed my bird to keep their flight feathers after I taught them to fly, they usually preferred not to buy most birds I've had were usually trained better than most dogs are so they had full run of the house and rarely did I even have accidents with poop because they knew they had to go back to their cages
Great show !!! From now on QT for sure 😷 Just because I have never had any of the issues that potentially arise from several factors , I have been convinced in the majority of cases that new fish going into unstable aquariums , overstocked or they have no buisiness keeping live animals etc. Best part of QT is that I can get the next " last " tank .. 😊
I keep swordtails fish and I realized that covers a spectrum of fish but I like all the colors so my tank would be considered mixed swordtails everything from tuxedo all the way to the green
Gentlemen..when can we expect the "Tank Talk ,Nerd Talk " podcast shirts coming.....super Great Job as always...this is my obligatory first thing to watch on Mondays.. Blessings and Prosperity to Yall....
Love you guys you feed well of each other. A wealth of experience and knowledge look forward to your videos every week a breath of fresh air . All the way from the uk🇬🇧
Stendker Discus ceased operations last year. Discus Hans gets his fish from Thailand (?) nowadays. I've grown WC calvus. They have different behaviors and like harder water than domestic fish, most of which come from Germany
I do wonder how you feel about truly domesticated fish like koi from a scientific standpoint. I have theories because of their genetic lineage as pets from the carp family. I prefer auctions for that reasons (call me crazy). Tank talk please....
I have gotten to the point that i will not buy wild caught personally. I will leave that to those who are trying to establish a population within the aquarium world. I feel like there are a lot of fish out there for me to not feel that need. The point of knowing where and how they were bred, specifically about discus is important. My brother in law basically did the exact thing with trying to make his tank "natrual" and the discus did horrible. They were not wild, they were the beautiful gemstone colored types.
Terrified of ordering fish online and never done so because of the potential of dealing with drastically different water parameters. As for quarantining, I can’t quarantine because I’m only allowed to have one tank in this house, which is a 240 gallon. My dad pretty much told me that if I bring even a little 5 gallon betta tank into the house, he and some friends will tear down both the new little tank and the 240 I already have while I’m at work, and shut down my hobby for good. I’m not even allowed to set up a plastic bin and use that as quarantine because my dad says “It still counts as another fish tank if it’s holding water and fish” so that’s not allowed. So I just have to be very picky with which fish stores I buy fish from and I haven’t had any kind of ich or disease outbreak since 2016. “Well why don’t you just wait until you have your own place before having aquariums ?”… Okay well I already had a 5 year involuntary break from this hobby as a kid due to a custody battle, so I’m never taking a break from the hobby again.
ONLY 55 minutes! 😮😢. Where's MY an hour and a half Podcast? You better have a good excuse why it's only 55 minutes. And yes John I'm yelling at you. Of course I can't yell at the professor 😂
I have very hard water but my platies they love it I have so many babies and my gubbies too, 😆 any way my tetras not so much should I use a softener for them?
@TheTankTalkPodcast another dumb question. Do I need to avoid working in my tank if I have a wound on my hand. Great example I split my knuckle this morning. Just enough that I had to bandage it. My concern is picking up some kind of crazy bacterial infection from my tank. And more often then not I've got nicks and cuts on my hands. Just apart of my job.
Watching your podcast from my hospital bed while i wait for a heart transplant. Great topic! Kept me busy for almost an hour ! Thank you!!
God Bless You! Hopefully you get your match!
Hope everything goes well Sir.
God bless you
good luck!

Glad you are here!
Thanos and The Professor never disappoint.
How dare you call me a fish nerd. How dare you Sir! Definitely the best fish podcast out there. ❤
Another great podcast !!!!
Thanks Guys! Fish Nerds Unite! Best way to spend a Friday afternoon while doing water changes. (Yeah, I guess I am old and pathetic 😁)

The podcast version (I’m using Apple) starts mid sentence. The introduction is missing. Love your content and chemistry!

Oh my gosh! This is perfect! I'm doing a research unit in my English class on this specific topic! Thank you!
Synchronicity is amazing. Good luck with your paper.
Love Freshwater Exotics! Been to his house a few times and gotten some great plecos from them!
I'm from South Africa, but I'm sure the process works very similarly here. Very informative and insightful! Thank you, gents! 😁🙏
Top quality podcast, cheers gents!

I agree about wild caught, it’s not right to put them in aquariums, in general. Love my chickens, super low maintenance
I looking forward to talk on Quarantining my fish because I had to many fish Petco and PetSmart die on me with in 2 Weeks of being purchased.😮😮😮😮

Great podcast 👏.
Just saw the chicken part...would that be an issue with all of Lisa's cats?
I can't find episode 33 on Apple podcasts.
Or Spotify.
Edit: 24 hours later it's there except for the first 5 minutes.
Bro I love Hawaii. Bad every time

Do u know why people sell wild caught? Aren’t they aware that their buyers may have very different water parameters?
Some times it’s the only way to obtain the fish.
38:31 do penguins count as wild caught fish or birds... Or both...

I might go with RO instead.
As far as wild fish goes, two words; Project Piaba.
What percentage of fish are wild caught vs tank breed?
Great question - I’m not sure? Jason
Fastest hour of my life
How do I quarantine shrimp? Same process just in a mature quarantine tank?
Yep!
