Great vid as always Lizzy! 4:56 A little piece of information: trains with the letter D still aren't the fastest type. The fastest train goes to those with the letter G (250~350km/h). Also: D (160~250km/h) C (160~200km/h) Z (≤160km/h) T (≤140km/h) K (≤120km/h)
I usually ride first class, but even if you are riding second class, it's not that bad. The trains from Kowloon station in Hong Kong to Changsha were all booked up, so ended up in second class. The real difference is when you bump up to business class. That's where you feel like royalty. lol Also, the G trains, those are the fastest. Fun fact: on the train from Beijing to Hangzhou via Shanghai, they stop the train for very short periods of time and girls from the local areas get on and sell fresh fruit. I got a whole bunch of fresh jujubes on my first train ride in China, and that was also the first time I had ever seen jujubes. I thought they were tiny apples. I have been addicted ever since. If you are a westerner, the number one thing to remember about fitting into China is you always bring your own food with you everywhere when traveling, but those were the best 'little apples' I have ever had.
Yes, 2nd class and first class have no big difference. Must try a short distance for business class. Do not forget to arrive 1 hour early to enjoy the VIP waiting rooms with many free stuffs😀
Thank you for showing us your experience on a Chinese fast speed train. It’s very convenience and comfortable and not to mention the ticket is also cheap. Yes, I agree the grapes is a bit expensive. I don’t know if it’s an import grapes from outside of China or local. If it was imported maybe that might be the case why it’s expensive.
On the Chinese high-speed train, First Class is equal to Business Class on airplanes. If you want an exclusive, luxury cabin, try Business Class on your next journey.
When the USA makes a foreign policy like Ron Paul, and an infrastructure policy like Hamilton, Friedrich List and Roosevelt, building a tunnel through the Bering Straits, it would become possible.
Not even charging stations are safe here😂 Thugs are removing Tesla’s charging station panels to steal copper wires to be sold at scrap yards for crack cocaine. Panel needs to be animal proofed.
Lizzy is right that the govt paid for the capital expenditure (CAPEX) of building the high speed rail system which connects the whole country at 350kph, aids economic growth/activity and is green tech. This is similar to US Interstate Highway System of 1956 where US govt will pay 90% of the cost of construction. With high usage from large populations, it is starting to make a profit from operations. The cost of developing HSR will also be offset by exports.
Australia is such a massive country and many of it's largest cities are located at very opposite ends like Sydney and Perth. HSR between them may be profitable.
I think the first class is the best bang for the buck. Yes, it is still pretty much the same as 2nd class. But you got bigger seat. Which is a good thing for a fat person like me. And moe leg room. But the bussiness class is something different, you can actually sleep in it. The newer model actually give you a small comparment so no one will disturb you. It is even more confortable than some bussiness class in the plane
Hi Lizzie I enjoy watching your videos and learning about China but I do hope in the future you showed more interaction with the Chinese people themselves so that we as foreigners might get a feeling for how theit lives are going, all the best.
13:35 40 rmb is $5.50 cents. If you ask me, that's not bad considering you order it right to your chair on the train. That's amazing value if you ask me. You get waited on just like you have room service.
Don’t do business class on maglev! Maglev isn’t really popular because the subway runs directly underneath it and the maglev train is generally only like 25% capacity (they don’t even assign seating). Also maglev only runs for about 6 minutes then you’ve arrived Do business class on the long distance high speed rail, definitely worth it! Depending on the city/station you’re at. I took business class at Shanghai hongqiao, there was a dedicated business class only entry with its own super quiet security check point which lead straight into business class lounge. Advise the staff what train you’re on and when the time comes they will remind you it’s time to board and personally walk you to the platform and carriage!
5:10 It needs to be noted that D trains aren't fastest. They are generally regional high speed trains - 200-275 km/h with a lot of stops. But fastest trains are G trains. Those are 300+ km/h trains on main high speed lines. Those are much faster.
10 mins into video 220 rnb for 3.5 hours where in europe. Well Spain... Malaga to Madrid ie bottom of Spain to near top 34 euros.. also clean and safe.
$700m loss on train operation not in overall railway system. Railway system is in profit. Its simple those stores in railway station going to pay rent , there is massage chair, etc etc. so these things gives profit to railway system but ticket cost is low making lost for train. If you wanna understand in depth there is video by another foreigner who explain why train is failing in west but success in china.
Very nice high speed trains 😅, almost as good as the train in India!!. Bty, Indian Modi must slow down their trains to 160km an hour Max due to too many COWS!! roaming around the tracks !!
Actually there are differences for 1st class and others. Must depend on the lines. For instance if you check out Living in China, Jason Lightfoot's channel. He often takes 1st class on trains and airplanes. And Jason does travel a lot in China. If i am remembering correctly. Some trains have 1st class that look they belong on a airplane 1st class. Especially i think on a high speed train which takes you cross country. These 1st class almost look like futuristic luxury cubicles.
Train staff have to scan your foreign passport. Passport is your ticket. No physical ticket. Don’t worry loser your ticket 🎟️. Government owns the train station and more cheaper.
0:15 th-cam.com/video/w-R9iD_hNHk/w-d-xo.html "China’s High-Speed Trains Shake Violently" You'll noticed that only the focused areas were shaking but everything away remained still. Clearly, the uploader, China Observer and her accomplice were doing the shaking of those selected areas. 🤨
It would be very difficult for most countries to build a high speed rail network since it is very expensive and they don’t not have the population to justify such an expensive project. Secondly , nobody can build at the super fast pace as China and delays will mean the project will be over budget significantly. Thirdly no govt has the long term vision like China and a newly elected govt might just cancel it. Fourthly no govt would do this for its ppl and take losses ( at least initially). That’s why China is supreme in public transport and infrastructure.
I believe that the debt is not 700 million, but 700 billion USD, which is big, but it all went to building stuff, and the stuff that the Chinese government built, has already started making profits.
Lizzy, having been a language teacher for many years I notice little mistakes. May I correct your use of "it is" vs "is it". Check your video. 😂 I still love your videos though.
Jealousy? China is a huge country and trains are more economical and environmentally friendly. Westerners love their cars and most western countries are puny so trails may not he practical. For the ignorant, traine are practical for sure.
China's high-speed railway network is about 40,000 kms and it is in deficit of about 700 billion USD or 5 trillion RMB as mentioned in this video. Well that's not as bad as it looks like. Would you rather have Western style capitalism running these HSRs? If yes then at least half of them would be shut down because they won't be profitable. And what good was US regime spending 3 trillion USD on wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and countless billions on wars in other countries?
Yes. The China HSL lines in china re overrated. The same run in Europe and Japan. So don't make a big fuzz about the trains. The good achievement is that China did that in a very short time and build 40.000 km rail with joint venturing the start with Siemens (Germany), Ahlstrom (France) and Bombardier (Canada)...
Great vid as always Lizzy!

A little update. In fact, the Chinese railways are already making a profit, slowly but surely leh!
Typical China speed❤
Great new video! 🎉😊❤
Thank you! 🤗

Trains in China are for the people. Not just for profits, as in the west.
Don’t push bullcrap communist props.
By West do you mean USA or UK. In Spain trains are good.. and inexpensive
Sweet! 💪🇨🇳
On the Chinese high-speed train, First Class is equal to Business Class on airplanes. If you want an exclusive, luxury cabin, try Business Class on your next journey.
Forgot to say, Business Class is very spacious and comfortable. Big difference from First Class.
we will never have this in america
Facts
When the USA makes a foreign policy like Ron Paul, and an infrastructure policy like Hamilton, Friedrich List and Roosevelt, building a tunnel through the Bering Straits, it would become possible.
Not even charging stations are safe here😂 Thugs are removing Tesla’s charging station panels to steal copper wires to be sold at scrap yards for crack cocaine. Panel needs to be animal proofed.
USA 🇺🇸 needs to consider rebuild the infrastructure in the country 😊rather than to spend the money on wars
Not after the recent election.
Love your videos Lizzy! You are a great person, hope one day I can meet you face to face.
Maybe one day! Let me know if you're ever in Kunming
@@lizzyinchina I will do for sure, you are one of my favorite humans, and have yet to meet you face to face.
Kunming looks like a good place to live but I think it's difficult for foreigners to move there.
Low speed & high crime trains in America! 😂❤
big eyes girl , i like your voice and accent of english , thank you for supporting china
She's South African.
Another great video , thank you for sharing.
Great sharing. More foreigners should visit China.

High speed train is awesome❤
Food on the train is for emergency use by a small number of passengers and is priced high to reduce demand because the amount carried is limited.
Thanks for sharing.
一般都不会选择在高铁上买东西,很贵,可以在车站外买好带上高铁
Love your channel..
Great video 👍🏼🔝, thank you Lizzy ❗️
im from india we r happy in our country and our country change lot of thing but we need more change
The Chinese Trains are making a huge profit. It is now called the gravy train.
中国火车不挣钱,一切都是民生工程!
你说的啊
u r ryt! we need more west ppl thinking like u. it's soooooooooo good
And not because of price gouging, but because the trains are so popular.
No High speed train in Australia
Australia is such a massive country and many of it's largest cities are located at very opposite ends like Sydney and Perth. HSR between them may be profitable.
@ true
@ The east coast is suitable for high-speed rail
Not even in america, the greatest country in the universe, as claimed by the ten million homeless streetpeople.
Everyone there rides kangaroooos!

Wow.
351 rmb (yuan) is equivalent to $67.96 Canadian dollars. That is so affordable. 🚂
Hi Lizzie I enjoy watching your videos and learning about China but I do hope in the future you showed more interaction with the Chinese people themselves so that we as foreigners might get a feeling for how theit lives are going, all the best.
火车上价格就是这样,自带入站就会便宜,我一般都带饺子上车,如果来不及我也只吃火车上的素餐。
I'm planning to visit China, see it for yourself and ride a lot of High-Speed trains and subways, something that my country needs to have too.
Im excited for you! Know you will have a great time here
13:35 40 rmb is $5.50 cents. If you ask me, that's not bad considering you order it right to your chair on the train.
That's amazing value if you ask me.

In first half of 2024, China raiway is profitable.
Very nice
这个只是一等座位,会比二等座位好坐一点,如果想要更好的舒服可以坐商务舱
Thank you. Very beautiful.
😀😀😀

Business class is the highest class in which the seat is totally different.
我们搭高铁一般都买好食物,带上去。不在车上买。太贵了😂😂😂😂😂
I like 👍 your Videos Lizzy
Yes, that is really expensive.
Expensive? Try the slow train between Washington DC and NYC. 😱😱😱
Dear Lizzy, I think it is little different for Dong Zer ( train start with Dxxxx), may be trying Gou Te ( train start with Gxxxx)

In general, arriving at the station 25 minutes before the departure time is enough.

nice video
❤
Agreed. Don't buy anything on the train because it is very expensive.
The expensive grapes on the train are pretty close to what they would cost in a grocery store in the US.

Hi Lizzy, may i ask one question. Is Ammy your friend or assistant?
Now, serious business, is there any biltong in china?
😂😂😂😂 there are SA people that sell it here, yes
@@lizzyinchina then here's to china my china:)
Although I would love this world to STOP building and designing differing 'classes' into anything.

different types of grapes. in the airport everything is expensive like a pain

No. The simple answer to your question.
second seat is enough
Neither 10 nor 8, it should be 6.66666666..... round up to 6.7 !! 🤣 🤣
Lizzy, you promise your mom will take her to get first class high speed train😅

只要看過,就知道現在大陸政府的高鐵造福多少人。

Don't try buy food on the train as the price is high so much!
