Nicely explained.Sir. How they calculate capital gain. Now my father had aquired a flat from a bulder to whom he had surrendered his plot of land and in return the builder had given him the said flat in the building constructed on the plot. Thirty five years back the plot cost was very less, and we also don't know about it. the flat is transfered now in my name after death of my father. I have sold the flat for 33 lakhs. So how they will calculate my capital gain. Thirty five years back the price of the plot was may be a few thousand rupees. How much tax, I will have to pay ?

Nice explanation. Pls clarify on the below scenario
    1. Seller sells a residential property on 01.06.2023
    2. Seller has booked an under construction / to be constructed residential property with a builder on 01.01.2022 i.e. more than a year before he sold his / her residential property. However, the payment to the builder for the under construction / to be constructed property will be made in installments beyond the selling date 01.06.2023
    3. Can the seller claim the benefit of section 54 since he / she is making payments towards the new under constitution property within 2 years of selling the ready residential property, even though the booking of the new under construction property was done more than a year before selling the ready property.

    Please clarify,
1-) Bechne se 1 year pehle Tak matlab, agar 15 june 2023 ko bechne ka plan hai to 15 june 2022 se 15 june 2023 ke beech kharid lun OR 15 june 2022 se just pehle kharid lun agar 15 june 2023 ko bechne ka plan hai... please confirm is case .e exemption milega??
2-) And one more question residential plot bechna hai and residential flat kharidna hai is case me exemption milega.. please confirm.
3-) last question capital gain amount ko home loan repayment me use kar sakte hain is case me be exemption milega kya.

Another question is - the property I want sell was purchased for 5k (5000) in 1981 & now the value is 60L. Then how the Capital Gain is calculated? Please advise.
