    Man, that opening piece was really good. It's quite fun watching you play guitar. Definitely one of my all-time fav's on this YT journey. As well, I totally appreciate all of the work you put into making your videos. A class act all around.

    Wow, I'm very impressed with the amount of range the EQ has in that module. You can really sculpt your tone to fit whatever you need. Very cool demo Pete.

    It has been years and every time I watch your reviews you have a golden intro song! Keep up your great work, Mr. Thorn!

    I swear Pete, you need to teach a master class series on song writing. Every week you compose a killer new track based on a tone/pedal. Endless well of creativity. I freaking love this channel.

    This is my personal favorite of the Synergy modules. Fat, but tight and aggressive without any mud with just a bit of Marshall peaking thru. THANX Pete

    I like this unit! A lot of times module's have a bit of muddiness in the " chunky " sound for me. This is really clear and cleans up really well for a full rounded tone.

    I love the green channel, especially for metal! Slap an SD1 in front, pushes it more into Marshally territory. Red Channel works better for passives imo, given how compressed it already is.

    Interesting that they didn't add some kind of "cold bias" switch to simulate the cold/fixed bias of real amp's power section. It would be less thick and have a layer of that signature 5150 fizz on top.

  • @jeffbutler6729
    @jeffbutler6729 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Pete! I’ve really been impressed with what I’ve heard from these Synergy modules and considering going that route, but I currently have a Matrix 1000FX power amp, which is obviously SS and was wondering what your thoughts are on running these modules through that amp rather than having to invest in their 50/50 tube PA, which is much heavier. Is there going to be THAT much of a difference being that these are tube pre’s?
    Hope to hear from ya and get your thoughts since you’ve had hands on experience with both. Thanks!!

  • @rebuiltbyusn
    @rebuiltbyusn ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Mr. Thorn why did you go with the black headstock? I would think the natural Rosewood would be great, or the Red of the body might be pretty cool too. Nice commentary on the 6505.

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, originally, my signature guitar came in two colors - black and gold. Black worked well with black obviously and gold looked cool with black because it kind of reminded me of 57 gold top but then we just decided to keep it consistent, make all my guitars have a black headstock.

    • @rebuiltbyusn
      @rebuiltbyusn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeteThorn Thanks for the reply. I guess my tastes run to more natural wood tones when I can get them. With you as an example of what your guitar sounds like
      Suhr should make a lot of money. Would love to see you in person in concert. All the best to you

  • @dddocmusic
    @dddocmusic ปีที่แล้ว

    It would have been cool if synergy made a cheaper syn 2 rack casing. That alone is the price of two modals. More so if you planned to use it in a home studio.. cool wee amps but I would rather have a clean, edge of break up and rocky pre amp thus the desire for two... but the syn2 prices me well out.

  • @martinaddison4880
    @martinaddison4880 ปีที่แล้ว

    Pete, what a great music intro, I know it varies, and it depends from week to week, but for this one, how long did it take you to write then record the intro?

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one, did it over two days. Usually I write and record most of the song in one day, and then I might play the solos on the second day and finish the talking parts/edit the video on day 2 as well.

    Oh yeah…Pete’s Da best!!!!

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The resonance is on the power amp

    • @Boogieplex
      @Boogieplex ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PeteThorn
      You are right, Pete..I completely forgot about that. Whats funny is i actually own a small device by the amp maker of the 5150(james Browne) called a depth finder. It replicates the resonance circuit in a 5150 and Is half the size of a small mxr pedal and goes in the effects loop of any amp. Takes a thin amp into as fat as a 5150. There’s a second knob that lets you adjust the presence as well. Its by amptweaker and called a depth finder. Impossible to find these days,but it’s amazing. I use it on thinner sounding Marshalls for more bottom end.

    I've never understood the "crunch/lead" designation of channels or modes in amps. To me it feels like everyone who wants to play metal or higher gain tones just plays "lead". And in many amps the "crunch" can actually sound kinda neutered in terms of punch. Not this one, but that's been often my experience. Like they often lack juice, I might like the clean channel with boost mode/pedal much more than the "crunch" channel. I can probably understand the idea that for lead you might want more distortion for compression and sustain (I often like to turn distortion down for leads to prevent the lead from sounding a bit dead and less like rusty nails and more like that blooming middly sweetness that is the trademark of klon type of boxes).
    This is my unrelated two cents that got sparked by the video. But I have to repeat, the 6505 module didn't suffer from that, the Unhcained sounded just the right way in the crunch mode.
