These guys were definitely not saints. I think it’s especially important to point out the faults of men within the Church to highlight the miracle of its survival to this very day. What scares me more than any of these personal(and sometimes public) sins of these Pope’s, are the problems facing the Church today. I view the sins of a pope who makes clear violations against natural law as a lesser evil, than one who leads his sheep into corruption and confusion in regards to Church teaching. Of course I will not deny the stuff these older pope’s did was pure evil, and I’m not necessarily speaking of the current pontiff in particular. Rather any pope who attempts to harm the Church in its orthodoxy and it teaching are doing a great evil. I am reminded of pope Honorius, who’s only real fault was to not preach against the heresy of Monotheism(I think that’s the one). He was more or less condemned as a heretic by certain councils, and at the very least condemned for being light on heresy. This particular heresy wasn’t even that popular either. This situation was nonetheless, taken as a major threat to the Church. Now put that into perspective of the things going on today. It’s scary.
Monophysism: This heresy asserted that the person of Jesus Christ has only one, divine nature rather than the two natures, divine and human, that were established at the Council of Chalcedon in 451.

The Catholic Talk Show, I recently read “At the Court of the Borgia” by Bishop Burchard, which he wrote while he was Master of Ceremonies at the Vatican. He also deliberately leaves out details about the death of Juan Borgia, and tells of the war crimes that Cesare Borgia committed in re-conquering the Papal States.
This was a very interesting episode. It truly shows how the Holy Spirit is protecting the Church. It would have been nice at the end to at least mention how all that serious mess ended, and then possibly have a full episode providing details of the key people that ended that era of bad popes.

I was just telling my sister that I enjoy your discussions because they are so educational without a lot of small talk like others. Enjoy the lightheartedness but too much bantering in this one.
I hear such awful comments about Pope Francis. I would say that Benedict XVI was the worst we've had in a very long time. Many bishops petitioned the "Holy Inquisition" which Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XVI) was in charge of, to return priests who molested children to the lay state. Ratzinger sat on those petitions. He didn't act on them. Those priests, knowing they wouldn't be punished, continued to molest children. Pope Francis has directly defrocked the most egregious priests and so far even two cardinals and I don't know how many bishops. I do know and know of at least one: Archbishop Anthony Apuron, the Bishop of Guam. I knew him when I was a member of the Capuchin community in Guam and he was a brother Capuchin. Pope Francis, a simple man has set an example of simple living for the clergy and us, called out bishops whose lifestyle is over the top. He has shown the love of the Lord to those who the Church persecuted and has asked the church to look at some ares where Jesus's love needs to shine. I just can't see where he is such a bad pope. Actually I admire him.
I don't think Pope Francis is a bad man, I truly believe that he is trying to steer the Church in order for it to speak to today's society. However he is misguided in the way that he is doing it. It's a shame that he is discarding the old traditions. The Church needs to adapt as it did during the counter reformation but never abandon traditions.
Why these people they want to see and know the mistakes or bad things of others as if they are very perfect. Instead we should pray for ourself or others not to make mistake or do bad things in the future
Holy father's? Maybe the church should consider changing the names. Our Holy Father in heaven is holy and he doesn't sin. Something else. You commented that the "gates of hell will not prevail against the Catholic church". It's funny, my bible doesn't say Catholic church anywhere. In fact my bible doesn't mention Catholic or Catholicism anywhere.
As much as it pains me to know these monstrous people became popes, it makes me feel better as a Catholic that we can be honest when even when we misstep and know we have a God and Church that is still good independent of how we act.
I want to watch this, but at the same time I don't, not because I'm not curious, but because I already get enough anti-Catholic suggestions for videos.
If you are among the anti-Catholics or are hearing trash from them, then learn the truth. Go back and read the Church Fathers and writings of the early Church. Read the Didache, the first catechism of the Church from the mid-first century. There was ONLY the Catholic Church for 1500 years until Luther decided to cure his demons by inventing a theology in which he was guaranteed salvation. There were no Protestant churches during that entire time. Don't take a pass on what anti-Catholics say. Almost all converts to Catholicism state that one or both of the following two items convinced them to become a Catholic: 1. Reading the Church Fathers, 2. The Authority of the Church (i.e., there is no authority in Protestantism which has caused the divisions). Finding out the truth breaks down all barriers.
The thing is that we as Catholics have the duty to accept the pope’s humanity and the right to criticise his sins and missconducts. The point is, today we are in an era where popes are considered immaculate angels, no, they are humans and they deserve criticism
Your hearts are not receptive to truths as are revealed in God's word - te Bible. It's obvious you don't spend time with the bible if you have one. The Pope you are defending knows who he is serving, the pope knows he is not worshipping God, soon it will come proven to you all that the pope is out to serve his master, the devil and not God.
well I think you spoke a little too soon on that hundred and fifty years since there was a bad Pope because we currently have a bad Pope we have a pope rejects the Catholic faith as it was taught for more than 2000 years I don't think it gets too much worse than that
@@michaelhaywood8262 I hate to argue with you because in some sense of the word I do agree with you he's not a good pope but the problem with your argument is that he has done fewer bad things than pope Francis and then on top of that he has violated fewer doctrines dogmas disciplines and teachings of the catholic church in fact he only did one or two questionable things in terms of violating catholic doctrine and that was having fathered illegitimate children by mistresses while he may have been under a vow of celibacy but the difference is pope Francis is completely abandoned the catholic faith I mean completely jumped ship since Pope Francis was elected pope I've yet to see a day where he did not violate the doctrines dogmas and teachings of the catholic church

Theophylactus means "guarded by God" . There was an historian in 7th century Byzantine author/ historian and also a Patriarch Theophylactus, co-adjutor of Greek Orthodox Church; hopefully those 2 were good! ;)
@@cvb79 oh thanks for correcting my grammar. So wait you ask in every thread about why people dislike the pope but apparently I'm excluded from your inquiry. Did you take a look at the filth happening right now at the Vatican????
The first 5 & 2 in this era , depending if U mean ruthless or plain incompetence .As Catholics we have lost the faith in the Vatican & even in the hiarchy of the clergy Roman Catholic faith , from the Pope right down to priests !!!!This is worry some, wow ,I got to stop smoking cigarettes ???Those big gold chairs , are comfy for the backside !!!!In 2 era's we had 2 or more popes at the same time (Shared Papacy) , what's that all about ?
Everyone has a side in this modern age, and many are influenced by what they THINK they know. As Catholics by our doubting Church, we are losing our faith in Jesus to keep the Church on an even keel to the salvation of souls. Jesus said that the Church will last to the end of the age. Believe Him! Maybe we should rely on prayer a lot more and worry about straightening our own lives. And yes, Pray for Our Holy Father. I believe he is a good, decent, and humble man. Sometimes I don't know what is happening, but I rely upon the presence of the Holy Spirit to give him counsel and to protect the Church from its enemies, both without and within.
I knew we had some bad popes in history but didn't know they were basically all from one clan and that it was all in the era of 100 years - seems to me like the Lord was angry with us and we were possibly cursed for some horrific sin because one of the saints said the worst thing God does to a People is to give them bad leaders of the faith... that is paraphrased.
Have I just watched an admission that the pope is not "infallible"? Not saying much for his role as "the vicar" or one who is the sole earthly voice for God.
No. You are perhaps confusing the concepts of "impeccability" with "infallibility". There are very strict times and conditions to infallible papal statements. (2 to 7 times depending on who you ask.) Popes can (and often have been) bad people who make mistakes without countering the actual Catholic doctrine of infallibility.
That does sound very familiar nowadays, not just the homosexual aspects but the promoting of people obviously not qualified to perform the tasks. but none of these popes ever tried to change the doctrines of the Church, pray God that no matter the weakness of the men who rise to power, our beautiful holy deposit of faith, given to us by Jesus himself will never suffer degradation or corruption.
We will never understand why God allowed these horrible popes but we will never understand too why Jesus said something like this about Judas, it would have been better that Judas was never born. I will just leave judgment to God for everything and I love the Catholic church because Jesus loves her so much
How do you KNOW that these, (which ones) are horrible popes? How much do you really know about them? Pray for them that the Holy Spirit will guide them (if one or both are still alive).
Guys, if it wasn't for the Virgin Mary, l believe the Catholic Church would be in a worst situation. I have been Medjugorje 88 and 95. We have to overlook the leaders of the church. Think only of JESUS on the alter of the Holy Euchrist. JESUS is there. No matter how holly or unholy is the clergy. We are there only to be with Christ. 👈👁️🕊️💥

I wonder if you would think the same today about Pope Francis?
Why these people they want to see and know the mistakes or bad things of others as if they are very perfect. Instead we should pray for ourself or others not to make mistake or do bad things in the future
I'm really interested in the history, but I had to leave because of the comments.
Don't read the comments
1st Pope named at 10:00
Holy father's? Maybe the church should consider changing the names. Our Holy Father in heaven is holy and he doesn't sin.
Something else. You commented that the "gates of hell will not prevail against the Catholic church". It's funny, my bible doesn't say Catholic church anywhere. In fact my bible doesn't mention Catholic or Catholicism anywhere.
As much as it pains me to know these monstrous people became popes, it makes me feel better as a Catholic that we can be honest when even when we misstep and know we have a God and Church that is still good independent of how we act.
This is the funniest episode ever, you guys crack me up 🤣🤣
It true what you say, those pope's are hillbilly trash!
Good Lord, no wonder we had the East/West split! 😱
Funny that the Jesus bob head is moving. Seems to be agreeing to what you guys said.
12:36 Jesus agrees. Hehehehe!
The thing is that we as Catholics have the duty to accept the pope’s humanity and the right to criticise his sins and missconducts. The point is, today we are in an era where popes are considered immaculate angels, no, they are humans and they deserve criticism
And our prayers and respect for their office.
Any list of terrible popes that does not include the current one as number one is not to be taken seriously.
No. He isn't perfect but there have been many far worse. Look up Alexander VI.
Where is the video of the cadaver synod?
Nvm
well I think you spoke a little too soon on that hundred and fifty years since there was a bad Pope because we currently have a bad Pope we have a pope rejects the Catholic faith as it was taught for more than 2000 years I don't think it gets too much worse than that
william terrill True. False Francis opposes our Lord Jesus.
No. He isn't perfect but there have been many far worse. Look up Alexander VI.
@@michaelhaywood8262 I hate to argue with you because in some sense of the word I do agree with you he's not a good pope but the problem with your argument is that he has done fewer bad things than pope Francis and then on top of that he has violated fewer doctrines dogmas disciplines and teachings of the catholic church in fact he only did one or two questionable things in terms of violating catholic doctrine and that was having fathered illegitimate children by
mistresses while he may have been under a vow of celibacy but the difference is pope Francis is completely abandoned the catholic faith I mean completely jumped ship since Pope Francis was elected pope I've yet to see a day where he did not violate the doctrines dogmas and teachings of the catholic church
We are in the greatest spiritual warfare and destitution in all of human history. This is a God vs. evil war to the death worldwide. *Our daily Godliness and prayerfulness are a matter of life and death from now on.
* The cowardly and diabolical abandonment of exorcisms, spiritua warfare, deliverances, St. Michael prayers, and Godly Holy Spirit infilling has caused all the troubles of the world, past and present
If you are leaving old tires around St. Peter's, you might be a Theophylactuses. If you use holy water in your moonshine still, you might be a Theophylactuses. If you keep a spit cup on the communion table, you might be a Theophylactuses. 😂😂😂😂😂
If you're not going to include Francis, then you don't have a complete list.
No bad popes in the last 150 years? You're joking, right? How about Pope Paul VI? How about Pope John XXIII? I mean, personally, from a distance, I liked them, but with what I've learned about them since then....well they aren't quite so impressive.
Yea, real terrible pope, that saint pope Paul vi
And don't get me started on that monster saint pope John xxiii
@@kylepietrusiewicz2749 saint....very interesting term....
@@teresabaker-carl9668 they are both literally canonized saints, if you do not recognize this, then you are not a Catholic
@@kylepietrusiewicz2749
Not believing someone is a canonized Saint doesn't make you a non-catholic there's a number of people who have been canonized as a saint only to be taken off the registry later I believe Saint Christopher is one of them
Pope John XXIII convened the second Vatican Council which brought modernism into the church some believe he may of been a mason and he ignored the first Vatican counsel Which the main focus was on modernism and not to change the mass. He also ignored the Blessed Mother's command consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart
Pope Paul VI after the death John XXIII continue to implement the second Vatican Council under Paul VI is where we get The NEW MASS which was developed by 6 Protestant ministers and to Catholic priest he brought protestantism into the mass he also ignored our Blessed Mother and did not consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart you might want to look up father Malachi Martin who explains this pretty well Reverend Fulton Sheen compatibilidad who's head of the Communist Party in the United States and she explains how they infiltrated the Catholic Church
Some claimed Alexander VI was amazing.
They’re probably white supremacists. He is credited for saying that Europeans can enslave the natives if they don’t convert.
Theophylactus means "guarded by God" . There was an historian in 7th century Byzantine author/ historian and also a Patriarch Theophylactus, co-adjutor of Greek Orthodox Church; hopefully those 2 were good! ;)
Did you add the current $##+show going on?
This isn't an attack on you at all, I'm just genuinely interested in your opinion, why do you dislike the current pope?
@@cvb79 your joking right???? Maybe just for an idea take a look at the Vatican in the last 48 hours

@@cvb79 oh thanks for correcting my grammar. So wait you ask in every thread about why people dislike the pope but apparently I'm excluded from your inquiry. Did you take a look at the filth happening right now at the Vatican????
@@odin64community nobody can seem to validly answer my question and engage in an adult conversation 😂
Many have made mistakes, and others have been personally immoral....but frank INTENTIONALLY is leading the church astray...he is the champ, hands down
No. He isn't perfect but there have been many far worse. Look up Alexander VI.
What about the pope who worships Pachamama?
I don't know about yall, but I would count the current pontiff as a bad pope... Or at least a careless pope.
But if the pope is changing the religion yes we respect the position but not the person. Please give me your reply
No one said it, but Winters was a major, not a general
I knew we had some bad popes in history but didn't know they were basically all from one clan and that it was all in the era of 100 years - seems to me like the Lord was angry with us and we were possibly cursed for some horrific sin because one of the saints said the worst thing God does to a People is to give them bad leaders of the faith... that is paraphrased.
just because the baddest popes came at a small time, doest mean all the rest were holy, holy, holy, right?
Some of the commenters on here are seriously weird.
You guys missed Paul VI, JPII, and Francis.
Sometimes harming the faith directly is worse than just fathering a child outside of wedlock.
JPII? He's a saint, and by far the best Pope of the last 100 years at least. That is in spite of my admiration for Pope Ven. Pius XII.
@@michaelhaywood8262 He's a saint of course. But not for his papacy.
If it's Monday, anyone?
Bobblehead Christ and saints seems pretty irreverent to me. Not surprising for a group of guys who think our present pope is a good one.
Ratty Hall they look gay so I ain’t even watching this. Too Protestant modernized like
Have I just watched an admission that the pope is not "infallible"? Not saying much for his role as "the vicar" or one who is the sole earthly voice for God.
No. You are perhaps confusing the concepts of "impeccability" with "infallibility". There are very strict times and conditions to infallible papal statements. (2 to 7 times depending on who you ask.) Popes can (and often have been) bad people who make mistakes without countering the actual Catholic doctrine of infallibility.
Definitely 7 of the worst popes
Definitely the stupidest video ive ever almost watched..1 minute..gone
Will you guys talk about church tax in Europe.
What was the Pope like during Luther's time?
Good question. Corrupt I would expect.
Could you tell us all about Pope Francis and his papacy? Where is he taking the Church? To Reformation or Destruction?
Guys, if it wasn't for the Virgin Mary, l believe the Catholic Church would be in a worst situation. I have been Medjugorje 88 and 95. We have to overlook the leaders of the church. Think only of JESUS on the alter of the Holy Euchrist. JESUS is there. No matter how holly or unholy is the clergy. We are there only to be with Christ. 👈👁️🕊️💥
Alexander the VI?? You can’t talk about bad popes without mentioning him!
#1, Pope Francis
I think we have to take a good look at the Vatican today in the light of History. I think you know what I 😢 mean! God bless...Fr.James

Pope Francis is going to be on that list for sure!!!
Nope to that pope
7 worst.
1..Francis
2. Alexander VI
