I ordered the Aceman in june 2024 and cannot wait to have it. Merci for your explanations and video - i think i understood most of it ;) - Born in 1961- not REALLY into the newest technical developments... i HOPE i will come along with all this stuff .... my first electric car ! So much looking forward to it - the old lady will throw herself into something really new :) thanks and brgds from Luxembourg , i think you will hear again from me after the first kilometers - i was told to have it at the beginning of december 2024 - me here , beginning january 2025 - still waiting
I tested one a couple weeks ago in that trim too. On paper wouldn't be my choice. Once I picked it up...Man! It's like judging the book by the cover. You have to try it! Great car, indeed! Well done review. Thank you!
I've never been a Mini fan as such but this new generation of car has caught my attention! Well done for the comprehensive review. It sounds like a holistically cracking driving machine!❤🎉 I think this would make a perfect replacement for my BMW i3S.💯
I watched your review and, to be honest, this was not the car my wife and I were considering purchasing. After test drive at the local Mini dealership in Sydney (back to back with a test drive of a 3 door Cooper which we were originally considering as a second car) I agree with you totally - it has 'oodles' of personality and is fun to drive while feeling well planted on the road (and the 'grin' factor when driving is great). We decided to purchase one and pick ours up next week. Good in depth review. Thanks Bryan.
A good choice presenting a red one. Petrol Ped’s review featured a dark grey example and was getting a very high level of hate in the comments for the way it looked. The contrast between the chunky SUV add ons and the red body colour make the proportions and overall design appear much better. The 4 door design of the Aceman is more appealing than on a regular Mini which just looks stretched in a lazy and bad way. I agree that this is the ‘Goldilocks’ Mini and actually used that term commenting on Peter’s video. A lot of the Mini purists think anything post 2000 with BMW input isn’t a real Mini so there’s not much hope for accepting an electric one with Chinese underpinnings is there? I’d agree it’s too pricey and the ‘option packs’ are a bit of a con. Another 50 miles range would also broaden the appeal. However, I’m not a purist and I actually quite like its appearance and if it drives like a Mini without the crashy ride it’s something of a miracle.
Great review. 💯 agree. Recently test drove Volvo EX30 & Kia EV3 and the Mini Aceman was the only car that put a smile on my face. Head v Heart as you say and Aceman is top of my list as our next car. (Just don’t tell the Mrs)
Amazing how different reviewers feel about this car! Thanks for such a comprehensive look at it. Like you I had hoped it would have a slightly better range and charging speed (for instance similar to the EX30) but depending upon your typical usage it’s doable.
As an owner of 6 minis now , 4 coopers and now on our second countryman currently in a exclusive model and only 18 months old , tomorrow we are test driving the aceman sport se your right , any media pictures you see of any new mini they all look rubbish , but in the flesh they look so much better , but I am struggling with the looks of the aceman , I feel you have to have the aceman sport to get the best looks , especially from the rear with the bigger roof spoiler and the bottom defuser , but the price is not sitting right for especially as it has a small battery and range , we have driven the vw id3 , cupra born , the Volvo ex30 , I like the new Renaults , Meghan and scenic e-tec but looking at price , value for money combined with insurance costs it’s the. Volvo that’s winning atm .trouble is we both do like the mini interior, and the Volvo is pretty plain , the whole ev experience is a very new thing for us , I’ve taken the plunge and should have my new vw I’d buzz cargo next month , which I am very much looking forward to, the driving of the ev is a real nice smooth driving experience, certainly makes ice engines quite Jurassic I feel . Any another great informative video 👍
I tested the Aceman recently too. I would have liked to like it more. The exterior design works well. I am a fan of the round OLED screen too. However the interior needs to feel more premium for me. The weave effect on the dashboard and doors looks good but feels rough to the touch. And the whole thing feels quite stripped down and bare. I would have liked the car much more if it gave more of a lux feel inside. Not for me unfortunately.
Hiya. Not sure if there's been a review release for the Huyndai Genesis GV60. But if not, then could I request you to kindly do one please ? Many thanks, in advance.
Covered the GV60 in many videos. If you go to the little magnifying glass at the top of the TH-cam home page and type in the name of the car, it’ll bring all our reviews of the car up.
Going though the last 18 months of my leased BMW i3S, it is clear that the lower specs car is just the same engine and battery in a different form, pity it’s now a front wheel drive. Also surprised the boot is not larger as it’s not much of an improvement, despite the extra length. And the range of the 184 hp variant doesn’t really cut it going forward. The larger battery car could be the next, but then prices get really high, and get into BMW territory, as well as AWD EVs. Still time to test and think…
Totally unimpressed with the exterior and interior, would rather have the Kia Ev3 , ive got the Kia EV Niro level 4 now rather have that than the Aceman 😊
This was a car I considered, but on paper it came across as a worse, more expensive EX30. As it's the lower range, slower charging, slower acceleration, and more expensive options.
A few months ago I was walking around South Derbyshire and saw a Mini Clubman on the driveway of a posh street, so I went onto the Mini website and there was a photograph of a Mini Clubman with red/brown metallic paint and it looked very stylish and premium. I know that EVs have to be higher because of the batteries under the floor, but I don't think that I could live with the new Aceman. It reminds me of the Fiat 600 with non-metallic red paint and a bland body. Some EVs look very boxy with terrible colours and the Aceman looks similar. Where is the design flair? What has happened to the paint, cars tend to be greyish or with negligible pigmentation? A car of this price should have metallic paint. I wouldn't buy one, but the MG4 is nicely styled and the red paint really looks good. I thought that technology was supposed to make life more exciting and interesting, but I cannot say that about the exterior styling of a lot of new EVs. I am not sold on the round screen and it won't benefit from being rotatable like some BYDs. Maybe it is because I am a retired old git and I know that you will not like this, but I would rather go for a skiing white/urban grey BYD Dolphin Design. Even though I am not a fan of grey, the other colours are worse.
I know that I am becoming a bit of a stuck record on this but I do think BMW needs to work on how it is using the electric power: the EV database suggests one is going to average something more like 180 miles from the bigger battery Aceman.
Can't understand why manufacturers insist on "three" seats in the back when it's clear that there really is only room for two. Far better getting rid of that centre seatbelt/buckle combo and creating two, slightly larger and more comfortable seats. Minuscule door bins and no arm rest = a no-no. You say it looks better in the flesh. I hope so for Mini's sake, because to my eyes (based on viewing various reviews/first looks on YT) it's ugly,, ugly, ugly.
Still think my BMW i3S beats it in every department. Better looking, more space, more versatility, simple controls and made from better materials. Why oh why did BMW give up with it. I own an original 1275 Cooper so I am a Mini fan, just not a fan of this one.
Still not convinced. It may do everything apart from cooking your 99p microwave dinner but the price is as usual the one of many reasons why I wouldn’t part with a penny of my money. I’m not interested in any of the bells and whistles I am only interested in running costs reliability and more importantly cost and this is another over priced moving explosion in the making . Another ev which will be out of the reach for most people due to the overpricing Now that is the reality of this thing. Nice colour though !!
That is just hideous. I don't know what's going on with cars recently, it's as if companies are competing to build the ugliest cars ever to pollute the roads. This one has really fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down hard.
Alfa Junior for me when comparing to this so called MINI. The Alfa is a far more attractive deal in every way. The MINI looks awful. Looks like it's been designed and built by a young child. How much?!
No, it's a review where I give narrative, information and opinion. If you don't want to hear my thoughts, that's fine. Other channels do it differently where they just read out information. Thats not what we do.
Pretty poor car in my humble opinion and not even nice to look at. Anything out of Stellantis these days needs a good dose of hesitation - their softwae in the Fiat 500e is diabolical - buyer beware
Have you been paying any attention to what he is saying about the driving experience? I consider that far more important than the external appearance. As for the interior, I think it looks great and apparently it is very comfortable. The only thing that doesn’t appeal to me is the round screen but it certainly seems very functional. I’m certainly not shopping for a new car but I can certainly see the potential of this one.

Excellent start. Confident. Well delivered. Part of the trade.
Much appreciated!

Surprisingly good little car, isn’t it?

Great review, great car - from Thailand ❤
Thank you! 👍
Saw one in the flesh the other day, and my first response remains. It looks like it was built to meet a price point.

Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for letting us know. The Volvo is a great car too. Big favourite of ours.
Great review and made me laugh. We own a countryman but love this just a bit pricey but understand it’s premium 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
So, you like it then, Brian? This sounds like the only car in it's segment that may tempt me out of my '21 Cooper SE.

Honestly I love it... I don't if it'll make it to my side of world 🌍 🇿🇦.

I do quite like this but it's the range and charging speed that's a little disappointing

No ICE? And we won’t get this model in the states

I was thinking the exact same, until I drove them, which instantly rocketed the Aceman past the EX-30 as the way more desirable car.

Some people object to Chinese EVs for a range of ethical reasons
Good review👍 Car a bit meh though
Thanks for the comment.

I can only agree with you as I am going through my second BMW i3…

I have to agree on the i3. One of the best EVs there has been and so futuristic. Shame they didn’t develop it further. Good used buy now though.
IMO it's the only design appealing new Mini

Nice colour though !!
Please don’t refer to seeing cars in the flesh. It’s not an animal or a human. In the metal is the correct term.
they killed the clubman and came up with this monstrosity. Definitely the ugliest mini generations these ones.

You’re implying this is a Stellantis product. It isn’t!
This headlight 🤮
No thank you, it's very fisherprice looking and not in a good way. There is absolutely nothing appealing about that car. 😂

Fair enough!
It's bloated, irrelevant and ugly. Sir Alec Issigonis will be spinning in his grave
