Hey all, first video of 2024, let's go! January is going to be a weird month for me as I'm moving out next week, and it might take some time before my PC joins me for the journey. I'll try to upload what I can while I'm here though, so keep an eye on my community tab for more information!
The Dirty Colossus fly mechanic is indeed in the remake, but in my opinion the flies are way harder to see in the Ps5 version, although since my first play through I can’t say I’ve had much trouble with him.
I was keeping track of which bosses left for most of the video, but completely forgot about the Vanguard Demon, so it was really wrinkling my brain trying to figure out which boss I was missing up until he was revealed. But man, I completely agree with that placement. That high damage and single attempt turn a relatively easy boss into a real butt-clencher sometimes.
After watching this video, and more specifically the Maiden Astraea segment, a fun idea for a Souls boss list would be the top 10 bosses you don't want to kill, consisting of bosses that you feel somewhat sympathetic for, due to their lore and story significance (for example Astraea, Sif, and Emma).
I would also maybe put Maria there too, because she’s just trying to hide the horrors of byrgenworths experiments on the fishing hamlet from the world, so I did feel kind of bad killing or, or kos, cause y’know, it’s a dead baby violently mourning its mother
@@trypticon8619I’d even put Ludwig phase 2 there. By that point I feel horrible about the fate he’s endured, and on top of that he’s found enough sanity to die a warrior’s death, and when you get to talk to his head after you realize how honorable he really was, as he owns up to his mistakes and his only concern is for the other warriors of the healing church. His whole arc in any other story would be that of a protagonist, or even a final boss, but in FromSoft he’s just a boss you run into on the journey. It’s amazing how much lore they put into each boss.

The hardest part about the adjudicator, and we’ll throw old hero in here as well, is the fact that the runback is so insanely horrible that you’re terrified of death the first time you play. My first fight with adjudicator was actually hard (don’t judge me it was my first souls game) but only because I knew if I died I’d have to replay almost all of the level again, with those flying birds shooting stuff at me, fight the guy outside the door to the boss, etc.
I apologize for making you spend an inordinately long amount of time trying to pronounce that Maneater comment.
False King Allant might not be the most difficult boss in every Soulsborne but he's got the most "WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL" attack with his level drain, up there with Waterfowl dance.

True King Allant is one of my favorite final bosses in the series for how unsettling it is. The one long comment explained it well, but additionally, it’s horrifying. It shows that YOU can also become just like him! Lore is such a big part of fights and his atmosphere, lore, and representation is perfect. The fight is so easy and boring but the rest makes it a 8/10 for me! Still, I have (not including DLC which would be Gael) Gwyn or Isshin as the best final boss.
If you haven’t played Demon’s Souls on NG+ I highly recommend because it will completely change this list. The true Demon’s Souls really does begin there because for me I played around SL 60 and it was easily one of the hardest runs of any souls game I played and I’ve played them all. Leechmonger literally became harder then Flamelurker for me because half the time I can’t see what that thing is doing, it can 2 shot you and if the leeches attach to you, another hit can mean death because of the DOT. 5-1 becomes the hardest level for me which only added to the stress of dying to leechmonger because I’d have to run through the level again. My NG+ ranking would be hardest to easiest: False King-Maneaters-Leechmonger-Flamelurker-Fool’s Idol-Penetrator-The rest from here can really be any order I didn’t have any random difficulty spike for them so I’ll rate them by annoyance-Dragon God-Phalanx-Storm King(Stormruler)-Iron Spider-Tower Knight-Vanguard(tutorial)-Vinland-Old Monk-Old Hero-True King-Dirty Colossus-Adjudicator
In NG+ I was surprised how fast I was wrecked by Storm King and it’s spawns. One shot took down a little less than half my health.
I’m surprised Leechmonger wasn’t 2nd as well. I think I’ve died to Phalanx more than Leechmonger and Dirty Colossus combined. Not to mention you can easily hit 30k damage on Leechmonger with the right set up (as I did in my video yesterday!)

NG+ leechmonger is surprisingly fun and challenging, where he can out heal your damage 95% of the time and makes it an actual fight rather than a fire weapon three shot
I love that Vanguard did so well. That’s amazing. Very solid list and yeah, I do argue that the false king is the toughest because that fear of level loss really gets in your head. Thanks so much!
Don’t ever RUN in the Old Hero fight. The strategy I used (given to me by the TH-camr SweetJonnyCage, is to follow behind him, hit him 3 times until he roars and then back away. It’s a pretty easy fight. Also use the thief ring.

I remember playing this on PS3 way back in the day and it was my first introduction to the series. Phalanx killed me way more times than i would like to admit

Dirty Colossus still has the flies in the remake. I did the battle using Magic and it was a pretty fun strafing fight trying to get off attacks while avoiding his shots.
I played the PS3 version just before the polls closed. So, I will make my top with a personnal note :
18) True King Allant : joke to be the final boss even for lore explainations (F-)
17) Leechmonger : I always go on Valley of Defilement in the end, so yes, rip (E+)
16) Adjudicator : so easy I don't know what to say about him (E-)
15) Old Monk : Played only PvE, IA looks I gived my controller to a baby (E+)
14) Phalanx : really easy and boring... I'm glad the firebombs exist (E-)
13) Astrea & Garl Viland : one of my favourites fights, still really easy but beautiful. Garl IA can be easily exploit (A-)
12) Dirty Colossus : This is out of question I would make the Leechmonger archstone another time, time for the Colossus to melt (D-)
11) Storm King : My favourite boss in the game, I just feel like a true badass, what a magnificient beast. Still easy, but so cool (S-)
10) Fool's Idol : Pinwheel but better ! Still easy but a ok fight (D-)
9) Vanguard is hard but you destroy him on the second encounter at the Shrine of Storms. Well, technically he's still hard the first time (D+)
8) Old Hero : Really cool boss but easy to exploit his weakness. Still a really really good fight (S-)
7) Penetrator : Easy knight 1v1 fight, really cool and simple (A-)
6) Tower Knight : Not really hard but clearing those archers can be annoying each time (B+)
5) Iron Spider : Fuck this silk attack, fuck those fireballs, at least sick design even if this is a AC boss (F+)
4) Dragon God : What is this, I see the concept but this isn't ended well... (F-)
3) Old King Allant : Hard fight but I don't really like him. His IA is really strange and I hate the level sucking mechanic (B+)
2) Flamelurker : Banger fight I love to do early, banger moveset to learn, truly in my trinity of favourites DemS boss fights alongside Old Hero and Storm King (S-)
1) Maneaters : Fuck those guys. Fuck their IA. Fuck the RNG. Fuck this arena. (F-)
I always though that false alant was the old one and real alant became the sludge that was the old one prior having new human host 🤔 hence the speach you are given when you find king alant.
That early into this style of game development, I can see why they did what they did with Dragon God. Pretty sure he's the tallest boss in Fromsoft history (Originally thought he was a half body clinging to the side of a cliff before discovering he's basically swole bodybuilder Godzilla)
With a boss that big, fighting him at ground level would have probably been a worse Last Giant fight and fighting him on the cliff would have probably been a worse Iron King fight.
Still shot themselves in the foot for hyping up something I think they knew they couldn't deliver on.

I did back in the day on ps3 up to ng5. Firestorm was just the most broken spell until ng4.
If you have a well done build with firestorm you can one shot to almost one shot all enemies in ng1 and bosses to. In base game its a sure one shot.
But demon souls on ps3 was a simple ng1 game. It was mandatory to be ng1 at times for pvp and trolling.
On tower of latria i join up a few dudes and we invaded people and soulsuck them. We ran across afk players and left them and sl 1. This is how the soulsuck soul level glitch came to be.
You could soulsuck someone and when you had all their souls. If they disconnect their internet. The game would save all before you getting soulsucked.
So when you came back online you never lost anything and the other player was pretty max level.
But i did stranded players on latria and pretty much ruined their character 😂

The Grafted Scion only gives you one chance at the beginning of Elden Ring, if you die you go straight to the cave at the beginning.

Mine was the comment about False King Allant being a lot easier having come from Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3 beforehand - and it really is a shame because I could imagine enjoying him as a fight a LOT more if I hadn’t experienced fights like Father Gascoigne, Gehrman, Sister Friede and Gael beforehand

Storm king is super easy because you can actually ovoid all the mantas and take them out before you deal with the boss. There’s a house in the arena that protect you from their attacks 99.99% of the time. I don’t understand why all of you just fight him out in the open instead of taking cover behind that house, it can’t be that much of an obscure trick.

I gotta say OG Demon's Souls is one of the goofiest looking game that is supposed to be serious I've ever seen
It does look and sound a little comical. The music borders on the edge between scary and absurdly funny at times, and the 2009 graphics are definitely dated at this point. The remake definitely improved on it and is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played. I know they made a couple missteps in the remake, but overall it’s just better.
Honestly the hardest part of Demons Souls are the fucking runbacks, I absolutly loathe that shit
