    I really like the inclusion of Wikipedia-style citations, which is what ChatGPT is lacking. It would be even better if it could quote and cite sources like books and journals as well (not sure what sort of copyright issues that might entail).

      They are different dude. ChatGPT is AI assistant that trained by large database, and it can create sentences by its own. This one is an AI search engine that collects everything on the internet, and make it short for a specific question, it similar to google.

    • @pauljthacker
      @pauljthacker ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BorSam ChatGPT had significant web sources, like Common Crawl. But then it forgets where it actually learned something, which means you have no idea if its answers are true or hallucinated. Perplexity gives similar answers (though a bit more concise), but includes an actual source you can verify. OpenAI should add this feature.

    • @pauljthacker
      @pauljthacker ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sebbog ChatGPT's sources include Common Crawl, a massive scrape of the Internet. So even though it learns from the web, it can't give you the link it learned from. (If you ask it for sources, it generally just makes something up.)

    I am currently in a college class studying food borne illnesses. As you can imagine, this is a fairly complex subject and requires a ton of time and energy. I find perplexity AI IMMENSELY helpful. I use it almost exclusively when I’m studying. I am able to save precious time when searching the internet for in-depth information on what I’m learning and allows me to research more and find more information than I previously could with a standard search engine. Not only can it do this for me, but if I have questions on the notes we go over in class, I can literally ask it and it will give me a cohesive explanation. This is irreplaceable for me. Makes my life miles easier, and gets me right to the information because it cites all its sources. Because it cites sources I can verify that the information being fed to me is accurate, and accurate information is necessary or else I can get confused with the wrong info. I LOVE this application. I hope it becomes something huge, and I have no doubts it won’t do so. This is a irreplaceable utility and I am so glad this is a thing. I genuinely feel like a much smarter person when utilizing this AI engine. Thank you Mattvidpro, for bringing this to my attention. So glad I subscribe and I feel for the people that don’t know this exists. Feels like a superpower or something like a fast pass in my studying. Really makes me happy. Thank you.

    Google already uses AI. What are called "featured snippets" is an example. They're mostly focused on curating versus providing answers directly, although they're headed in that direction. I prefer curation most of the time, since I like getting multiple viewpoints instead of just one answer (which may not be correct or not fully accurate). Google could easily switch to an answer engine and that'll probably be their next step to compete with ChatGPT/OpenAI and their spawns. They're probably more worried about Microsoft getting involved than with ChatGPT itself.

    I believe the issue is not that the answers are good or not. Its about building trust. If it fails even 1 out 10 times, the trust is lost and I will be back to google where answers are always backed by a supporting article which is definitely more accurate than these cases. One of the limitations of LLM based search would be that they are stuck in time when they were last trained. Not sure how that problem will be solved.
