I've become interested in melbourne as its where I grew up, Its nice to see videos of melbourne the city over the past 200 years, I have tried to find videos from Monash, Mount Waverly Ashwood Oakleigh, Homesglen and surrounding areas, as I grew up in these suburbs of melbourne, If anywhere there's footage, images, stories anything of these areas reply back
Is this the original music? I love it. Also, I have a lot of old newspapers from Melbourne, including a front page from the day of federation in 1901. What should I do with them? They are fragile and hardly ever seen. Any ideas? Anyone throw in your thoughts. I’d be very grateful.😊
I have a Facebook page called 20th century Melbourne Australia Photos Videos memories with 60k following the page. Feel free to message the page some photos please and I’ll credit you however you wish?
@@Gezza1967 hey Gezza, I watch most of your vids. I just realised a few things. I had a video camera in the 80s and 90s. Friends said “ you’ll use it a few times and forget about it.” Nup, wherever I went the camera came with me. Mainly my young children and their friends and holidays but when I was driving kids would video as passengers when I picked them up from Watsonia station driving home to Watsonia North. I’d even video the cat playing lol. Haven’t used for years, not sure if still working but still have all my master tapes, that’ll be history one day. Also watching this vid, my maternal grandmother was born 1885 and passed away 1978, she lived in Carlton so this is life how she saw it. My paternal great grandfather was a member of parliament during federation, so great to see Parliament House when he was there. I put quite a few on disk years ago, so I guess I should tell my kids to give appropriate copies to someone for history purposes. Must right a will, lol, I’m pushing 70 😱😂
@@bernadettelanders7306 that’s terrific. I remember your family history you’ve shared on the Carlton 3053 FB page. You should start up a TH-cam channel and post your videos 🤗👍
If i could turn back the clock, I want to come in this early 20 century. Life was much more fun on Yarra River and the Melbourne Show Ground. Now, it's far TOO QUIET esp show ground just a piece of land without anything as fun as it was where I just went there during COVID 19 for pop in test. Ghost town after N numb is the best words to describe the scene I have which worse than a century ago. Damnnnnnnn
Flew to Melbourne Brisbane Hobart looking for mudflooders Melbourne blew me away.coming from the UK I'd say it's all the same Age. .. Hobart Post Office was flooded so obviously it hurts
Holy cow, I guess I only can recognize two buildings still SURVIVE today was The Hight Court as well as SLV but why needed iron fense for what? Again I still the remodeled face better..........STF.......
I heard Melbourne was pretty great in 1810, no traffic, hardly any people. What would I know, theirs no video to be all nostalgic and sentimental over.
OMG, SLV was a giant city barn hoarding a lot of Trash and Treasures. I knew SLV's prelife by audio but not the visual till now. Again, I like that place as library rather MESSY HOARDING MEGA BARN....HAHAHA....STF
Flamington Show ground now becomes a ghost ground esp COVID epicenter. And nothing like we used to have. Very bleak oval without tumbling grass...Hahaha... maybe now it can be ghost play ground to continue the past promising feature rather future.... Hahaha....over.........STF.........

Abour the 3 minute mark: "Melbourne's population is predominantly rural"
So who built those spectacular buildings?
Tartarian architecture all over the world
Bobo bibi, convicts with hamer and chisels+ hoarse and cart lol
Victoria's population*
Awesome! Loved it.
The painting at 1:50 I believe is called 'The Resistance' and can be viewed at the NGV.
Looks like The Last Supper by Leonardo Da Vinci

Who could have predicted the whirlwind of events that would unfold in the remaining years of the 20th century....
You mean who could of predicted all the lies and deception by your government's and media

PITY THE MUSEUM is full of so many dead stuffed animals, including a poor elephant. Other wise interesting footage of another time another world.
Taxidermists
Looks just like Tokyo why?
Once a grand city, now a horrible distopian hell in a failed state. But the people get the governments they deserve apparently

It's very unwise to impose current social thinking on what happened all those years ago.
It hasn't changed it's 2023 Melbourne still the same just a bit updated
Old
