I can't get over Nick's demo, its so gorgeous. I used an old cassette player to play the demos, so the speakers were a little crackly, so it made it sound like a recording from the 1940s. It was overwhelmingly beautiful the first time I heard it-- I still get chills every time I hear it.

Part of the appeal to me and reason to buy the cassette and player was the fact that the demos were exclusive to the drop. Granted the pre order period was back in July, but at least for me personally I didn't get my package until a couple weeks ago. To be fair though, the players literally come with instructions on how to use them to make mp3's from cassettes and even then some people would still find a way to share them online. This last part means nothing to anyone else, but I was very excited to learn that Michael's demo was called 'Phone Speaker' as that's how I've been referring to it. I thought Nick's would be 'Winter Solstice' but I will agree Constant Sojourner is a better name.
I just wanna say, this is one of the most varied EP's I've ever heard. Even as demos, each song shows promise, and seems to resonate a different energy. Davids demo is serene in its nature, almost atmospheric. Of course, though, I'll always be up for some American post folk sounding acoustic guitar lol. I feel it tells a story, makes a point, without lyrics, which to me, is impressive. Jons demo obviously brings the energy up with the video game aesthetic, honestly not something I've ever seen in a remix, but I love the effect it has on Summer. I feel like mixing the emotions associated with indie rock and video game music has an extremely unique effect. Micheals demo, for a start, doesn't even sound like a demo - that's just a song. It contrasts so well with the upbeat nature of Summer, teeters on being a midwest emo song in some ways. I mean, the midwest emo element alone makes this completely different from what you guys have done before. A more depressed vibe, but great nonetheless. Nicks demo completely changes pace, with a more traditional approach. I love when bands actively go out of their typical genre, it's so refreshing. It's got your vibe while still being - I have no other way to say it, sea shanty like lol. I love it relentlessly, though. Jacobs demo is nothing out of the ordinary, and yet it carries such a wonderful simplicity to it. Cute might be the first word people use, but I do feel like this could apply to any emotion, like you could be at your lowest, or your best when you hear this song. I can see why you guys make such a great vibe together.

The instrumentals of Jacob's Demo leave me on my knees, begging for more. Would be cool if I could listen to it on Spotify, but the fact that it is on limited edition EP 4 Cassette somehow gives it even more of a magical feeling. That said, I would absolutely love to be able to listen to it more.
All of the demos are amazing and I have loved listening to them on my cassette! Jacob's demo has to have been my favorite though because it just has this sence of contentment in it. I really like listening to it and just looking out the window.
