On the Steph vs Shae argument: Steph being better comes down to intangibles. The best way I've heard SGA described is he's actually a shooting guard (ala MJ) who can also excel at point. If we are drawing apples to oranges, these are the factors I'd point to as Curry being a facilitator with higher-end potential; or in other words, why I think the Thunder would be better in the regular and post-season as a result of a SGA for steph swap: - Steph has vastly more experience running playoff offenses. As a general leader, he's really second-to-none unless someone had a superstar ego. - Steph is easily the best off-ball player ever. While SGA is good, perhaps even great, Curry just opens new dimensionality for his teammates due to his pressure exerted. - Curry is a much better 3-pt shooter and passer. Granted, low BBIQ players can't really rock with his system - but that wouldn't be an issue in OKC. I believe Curry would even further open up the paint, allowing OKC to abuse their size and athleticism more. I think the Chet pick-and-roll would be effectively unstoppable and open up more opportunities in transition or for rebound attempts (missed 3 pointers rebound farther out quite often). I feel like OKC would've won 3-6 more games with Curry being in the same health as SGA, and they would've beat the mavericks and the depth-compromised nuggets. Really, a currified OKC would be the only team with a realistic chance at beating boston. Now, if Curry's health is the x-factor or you predict SGA to make another leap similar to last year due to his playoff experience, then you'd have to go SGA. Can't really go wrong with either tho imo. That said, I hope I brought up some points that you at least consider, and shoutout to your constant revision and analysis. As an armchair analyst, your channel provides and endless stream of great content. Much appreicated and good luck dood 👉👉
this might be the worst take ive ever read 😭 First of all, if you're going to talk about a player in a semi-negative connotation, at least spell his name correctly. It's Shai not Shae. Second of all, Steph is vastly better at running playoff offenses yes, but does that equate to anything when he is playing alongside a largely inexperienced roster? I don't think it does. Your point about curry opening up the paint is very puzzling to me too. If Shai led the league in drive's why is there even a need to open up the paint more? He led the league in the stat that revolves around the paint the most, and flourished off of it clearly becuase we have people all around the basketball community calling him a freethrow merchant. You do have some agreeable points as in the off-ball stuff and better 3-pt shooter, but the passing is a bit debatable at this stage of their careers. Curry really doesn't have anyone to dish the ball out to now that Klay is gone and Wiggins seems to have lost all of the magic he had in that 22 season. With the offseason additions that we made, there is no need to ever make a move like this, even if its just a hypothetical one. I believe our current roster, after the additions of Caruso and I-Hart, has a way better chance at dealing with Boston than if we were to trade off SGA for Steph. (Side Note, we don't need curry as we were one of the best 3pt shooting teams in the league, and just had a very unfortunate lapse against the Mavericks.)

Hali and Trae are both very similar players both have been to the ECF and are two of the best passing PGs in the NBA. You can make an argument Haliburton is better but not clearly, he wasn't the same player in the second half of last season and the trade for Siakam really made them get to where they did. Trae also had a harder path to the ECF as he faced two healthy squads while Haliburton didn't. And if Trae doesn't get injured in the ECF who knows the outcome of that series. I'm also a Hawks fan so Trae could still be better imo.
