    Love this guy. Don't care about the legal stuff with Queen. He knew how to use this great groove differently. He can rap and the boy can dance. I wonder if he still has his home remodeling show ?

    I mean Rob Van Winkle might have been born in Texas but definitely in the 90s when he was rapping as vanilla ice he was definitely representing Miami to the fullest because Miami is and was his residence at the time and that's what he was claiming Miami Bass sound baby

    He was clowned as fake and unoriginal with his beat. Fast forward to today and every rap song has a sampled beat and every rapper is a fake studio gangster. In retrospect Vanilla Ice was just ahead of his time.

      thats 100% true. he was the pioneer for many of us...he created a bridge to the white pop and rock genre and then introduced using other artists now known as "sampling" now, which wasnt considered a compliment then. he was sued, chastized and bullied for being a copy cat, but in reality, he was the pioneer of what other artists were to become. sampling that music may have seemed like a mistake legally, but for the rest of time, vanilla will be always revisited for his choice. irony at its best. hes resurfaced now, and he finally has goind some peace and humor in the new found success, but he had a hard journey for a long time internally...hipefully he now knows how pivotal he was and what a legend he will eventually be.

    So cool you are checking out some of the vintage rap tunes!!! This song was an introduction for a lot of us white folks that hadn't heard rap yet!!! Other than Vanilla Ice stealing QUEENS baseline from their song, Under Pressure & getting sued for it, Vanilla was quite popular back in the day, & I cannot lie, I loved this song, & their dance moves!!! Vanilla kind of slid out of popularity after the QUEEN scandal, but nobody can take away the fact he was incredibly talented in rapping & his dance moves!!!

    Try Snow rapping Informer. Canadian guy who grew up in a Jamaican neighborhood...the opening riff you like was stolen from Queen. They sued and he had to include them in credits. 😀🖖🏻

    The song's hook samples the bassline of the 1981 song "Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie.
    After representatives for Queen and Bowie threatened a copyright infringement suit against him, the matter was settled out of court, with Van Winkle(VANILLA ICE) being required to pay financial recompense to the original artists. Bowie and all members of Queen were also given songwriting credit for the sample.
    I still like "Ice Ice Baby" and it is still a good song.

    This video is filmed in Dallas. I heard you say he got Dallas swag. He was actually from Miami. The graffiti on the walls and the warehouses they dance in look like Deep Ellum. Never noticed that before.

      I remember they made the lawsuit look worse then it was. A lot of ppl misunderstood that he just didnt get permission when he sampled the beat from the song under pressure by queen. The medias made it sounded like he stole the whole song and made him look like a phony rapper. We didnt have the internet back then so our mouths did the spreading of a lot of false informations without Google to verify if the info was correct or not lol. Well at least vanilla ice own rights to the under pressure song

  • @onewxrldmusic7303
    @onewxrldmusic7303 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Of course this Vanilla Ice song is classic on its own merit, although it still creates controversy. But it is brilliant. But the Queen thing is something else. You reacted to the Queen one. So thanks. By the way, you could also react to the British brother duo Jedward mashing up "Ice Ice Baby" with the original "Under Pressure" and adding Vanilla Ice to it. Their track is called "Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)".

    Mmmmm mmmm mmmmm..... I’d sop him up with a biscuit. I’m from Oklahoma, but I’m pretty sure that phrase translates to Texan. Right? I’m his age too, so I think I still got a shot. He was on Dancing With the Stars not too long ago. He does home renovations and flips houses. He’s man candy.
