I remember BananaKen went on a rampage online back when BBCF got rollback, and he's so fun to watch on Kokonoe. Same for Barlowe with Valkenheyn, I miss seeing him play.

on the jp tier list video they actually said kokonoe was considered the gatekeeper for the truly degen chars. There was a lot of "nah I dont think shes better than koko" kinda thing.

Guilty Gear Strive looks to be Arc's focus of their two IPs as BlazBlue got that odd Bloodrayne: Betrayal- style game recently
I miss fenrich so much man. I never realised how much i would miss the players. I still like watching blazblue, but it's just not the same.
Bken and I played extensively against each other ever since rollback released, and especially leading up into CB. It's always going to be a great finals when both players are intimately familiar with not only the character matchup, but the player matchup.
Winners Finals was an even crazier set if you haven't seen that!

Was trying to get into blazblue recently since it looks super fun, but was having issues where every single online match would crash. Basically makes the game unplayable for me which sucks because from what I've seen and played it's super fun.
"Just tech the throw" is a phrase i hear all too often when playing with friends

@ANIMEILLUMINATI Good video, just wanted to say you don't have to pause/unpause to go frame by frame when going thru a youtube vod. When paused, hit comma for 1 frame back, and period for 1 frame forward.

Arc should see all the love still but they focus on Guilty Gear Strive more currently. With luck all the interest and players not happy with the Bloodrayne: Betrayal- style new BB will get them to see BB is still profitable as it has been since Day 1. What I'd love is an internal crossover- BB vs GG with the roster voted on by the playerbase as it would reunite the two IPs since BB was first and while Sega held the IP from Arc, Arc went and made GG in response after all 😋
1:38 The popcorn baron was in the back left corner of where this Top 8 was. It was good, and they had some crazy flavors, but that line was LONG long! I wish they had smaller 'try me' bags so I could find good flavors faster, but it is what it is. Definetly worth trying!

BK was a MONSTER with Shadow Labrys.
I think most tierlists are severely outdated and at least in europe folks seem to agree that Kokonoe was misplaced and is a top tier contender.
But then again differentiating High and top tier is pretty difficult in this games, as the high tiers are super buff too.
Also I just have to come through with the Kagura Propaganda: He could have c-fafnird all layers of those mixups, except for those that include going away from the opponent. If you are a fan of microdashes, he also got those to make combos more consistent and work across the entire cast. (mostly when using b-fafnir)

I don't get Monarch not picking lambda. Lambdas zoning is so good at shutting down Kokonoe's set-ups and her 22D beats so much of her wake up set ups too. As a Lambda main that also plays Kokonoe I know she is good against her
I also hated fighting Lambda/V13 as Kokonoe, but that was a long time ago.
I've tried, it's not a good matchup for the sword Murakumo's. Kokonoe's gravitons influence sword placements too heavily, and set up easy whiff punishes for her. This also isn't considering other threats like fullscreen 236[A] (safe on block if not IB'd), graviton > teleport, graviton > fireball etc. Also, properly timed meaties and setups beat 22D outright, so you can't rely on that either.
Overall, too much mental stack when the risk/reward skewed towards Kokonoe.

10:42 If we are talking about the turnout, the number of high level players who show up, and view count, CEO, Frosty, and CB are the biggest Blazblue events. Way more than Evo.
13:21 Murakumo players still love the Koko matchup. It's not free, but Koko has to work a lot harder against Nu, Lambda, or Mu vs say, Hibiki or Ragna.
13:48 Here's the thing: After rollback, Bananaken was active in Spooky Tourneys', but disappeared for like a year. So many online and IRL events happened without BK. Then literally a month or two before CB2023, BK goes up against a bunch of online gods, holds his own, and then wrecks Monarch in CB (Not in any way to speak ill of Monarch, he will destroy any of us. BK was just able to handle the onscreen chaos more at GF)
17:32 We talk alot in Discord about tiers, Es is more stable, easier to use.... but characters like Koko, Izayoi, etc have cheaper shit to deal with. And depending on who you ask, Koko is top 5 or 6 (Es and Koko are easy top 10 for me, but anyone after the four gods gets weird in terms of placement.)

I knew I wasn't crazy; Lambda/V13 matchup was rough when I played Koko.
Wasnt this stage typically banned in evo because its one of those infinite stages technically? Because of the fact that its difficult to judge how close you are to the corner on either side since the backgrounds dont move so that kinda messes with players’ neutral and setups, so this one and BLUE are typically not allowed for both netplay and tournaments.
I remember watching BK's streams around the time and he grinded the absolute fuck out of the game when he won combobreaker after that you can't blame him for burning out on the game.
He's fully dedicated to getting good at SF6 now.

Yes, it's my main controller now but it does not work on PS4 which is a big issue for playing offline.

Its always Blazblue and GG that gets my attention, even if I do get busy. Some of these characters are hilarious and broken to look at. Its amazing. I still love Hakumen
Hakumen one of the coolest FG characters for sure. I just don't like playing him.

After all this time, I still don't know who play in this game. It feels almost impossible tonot play like 6 different characters.

I also want to see monarch play against some of the older heads in this. Ive seen him play aginst both jona and bananaken (through you of course). I also want to see him play some of the newer games or at least play some games where international competition is involved.
There are just some things im not convinced of just yet. Monarchs defense is crazy, but is that only in this game? Ive seen monarch play against some stiff competition but never the *top* tiers. Definitely not trying to take away anything away from monarch. Hes earned it, but there are some questions that needs answers. For instance, can he take on a justin wong or daigo? Can he take on omito? Just some food for thought.
Need more bb content. Id love to see either azrael, susano or hakumen match covered at the highest level

15:17 hell no, god i hate microdashes. It's not that i hate difficult inputs, i play +R I-No at high level, but i hate having difficult execution when it's not for something that looks cool. Moving a millimeter forward is not cool or hype at all. That's the main reason why I don't play Blazblue, it's full of little things like that that just rubs me backwards.
Microdashes are what make characters like Naoto so much fun to watch tbh

Yeah, I don't think they belong in every game, but they definitely give Blazblue a unique flavor.
@Rhannmah I mean, microdashes are literally how you get Naotos enhance special moves. So yeah,it's pretty his gimmick.

Anyway Blazblue CF isn't for everybody, especially the feint of heart,but I still feel it's Arcsys best game, especially gameplay wise.

I feel like Jiyuna hit the nail on the head for why I feel like I like Xrd better than CF, it's cuz it feels like all but the most broken characters are based around laggy ass arcade monitors. Azrael's 5D is his main mixup option and it's well within the window of reaction, being 21 frames, and because that's considered fast he needs a weakpoint or meter to combo off it. Meanwhile throw in GG is just universally not a reactable mix, and it's especially not dealt with with such a godlike OS they had to add an entire system mechanic to make sure it didn't make throwing literally useless lol
yet gauntlet hades is still hard to block lol, 21f with no frame 1 telegraph is only consistently reactable if you have very little mental stack or incredible defense like monarch
@@tdwl2802 That's the thing though, you saw on this channel that Monarch was just like the king of blocking and BananaKen was hitting him because he was playing one of the characters in the game that doesn't actually have to care about your defense. It's an unfortunate remnant of the era it was designed in that they relied on cab delay for balancing and you can def feel it on some of the characters like Ragna and stuff lol

@@rachetmarvel931 Well one the point is that Gauntlet Hades is not hard to block period. It's a 24f overhead with a reactable animation and a loud voice line, and 6B is just as slow. This means you need to rely on throw, but even throw is borderline reactable in a 0 delay environment, which is because it wasn't unreactable when you had to play with like 5 frames of arcade lag. Now there is a clear gap between characters who have pure 50/50s and characters who have to rely on their reactable options or easily OS'd and still technically reactable throw
@@NeoBoneGirl Gauntlet is 20f not 24f. Throw tech window is 15f which is only reactable if the only option your opponent has represented for the entire match is throw. Mental stack is a thing which interferes with reaction time y'know
Es not cheap with that j.C? At least chars like valk take a risk to get in, she has not only the best fireball in the game but also the best fireball to run behind in the game for a free skip neutral.

6A is not even worth mentioning when talking about her strong tools. She is the most solid all-around character with Jin, but still an "All-around" type character instead of one that's focused on 1-2 cheap mechanics.
