RVD run with the ECW World Television Championship was amazing. It's a shame his title run was ended by injury. He could of been the one to defeat Mike Awesome for the ECW Title.
Favorite RVD matches during this run:
vs Bam Bam Bigelow at ECW Hardcore TV April 4, 1998
With Sabu vs Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki Heatwave 1998
vs Jerry Lynn Living Dangerously 1999 and Hardcore Heaven 1999

His TV title reign was great but Heyman really missed out on a huge opportunity to put the ECW world title on him at some point. After Tazz and Dudleys left he became the most over guy in that company. Intead they gave it to B list talent like Justin Credible and Steve Corino.

If Paul paid Rob, he probably would have gotten the belt before they went under; but because he was owed a ton of money, he just stopped showing up in October.

As legendary as Rob Van Dam's world television championship run was for almost two full years, I will always argue that if it was another time in ECW history, what if RVD was the world heavyweight champion for 700 days?

Honestly, I don’t believe Awesome vs RVD would’ve “saved” ECW, cause 1, The TNN network would’ve still dropped them for the WWF anyway, 2, Paul was still Paul, in that he was a horrible businessman who never wanted to change his ways, and 3, ECW never could’ve been on the same level as WWF at that time. Yeah, the match would’ve been big, but saved ECW from the bad situation they were in, I don’t think so.
Now, that said, I do agree that RVD’s TV Title reign was the greatest title reign in ECW history, even better than Shane Douglas’ 15 month World Title reign.

This just popped in my head. After you mention Cyrus of The Network you should do one of the history of the evil authority figures. Memphis actually had the OG heel authority figure. I saw a video of it on here.
