      My aunt has this glass decor partition between the toilet seat and tub. After years in fell on my cousin and cut his whole leg. He was alone and bled. Hes a doctor so lucky him but he somehow shouted for the neighbors from the bathroom window and they has a spare key and came to the rescue. So scary fml

    Hey Melissa, just wanted to let you know I finally pulled the trigger on purchasing your microfibre cloths. I've been wanting to for awhile but the cost (plus currency exchange + shipping to Canada) was a huge deterrent.
    But you've really changed my life and it began with this video a few months ago when I was really depressed and down and unable to clean my own bathroom.
    My favourite part is when you do that little twirl right before you enter the bathroom of horrors. Somehow watching you clean made it easier for me to picture myself cleaning. Having a roadmap of exactly how to go about it helped immensely. So thank you. Thank you thank you.
    Now I have dollarstore spray bottles filled with all your DIY cleaners. I've invested in several essential oils, and now I'm a baking soda and vinegar fiend. The Maker's cloths are the last item to fill my cleaning kit caddie. Dollarama cloths simply don't do.
    I can't wait for them to come in. In the meantime, I'm enjoying your book I have borrowed from the library right now. It's amazing. I think it's the perfect Christmas gift to any young person moving out of their home for the first time. Or maybe when they become a teenager. haha. I may buy it for nieces when they are old enough (they can't read yet). My sister in law will love me. :)

      I struggle with depression and also find inspiration in the site Unfuckyourhabitat.com. Hope the title doesn't offend. The person who runs the site has a great sense is of humor. The tips are for people who struggle to keep their place clean and organized whether they just don't like the work or have chronic physical or mental health struggles. Lots of ideas for getting going when you're feeling low, dealing with cleaning emergencies (like a landlord visit), etc. Good combination with this channel.

    • @DalokiMauvais
      @DalokiMauvais 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went into a 2+ year depressive episode and didn't clean a thing. But toward the end of the second year I advertised for a cleaning person and found a _wonderful_ woman who does all the hard things (I'm almost 74 and kneeling to clean the outside of the toilet, for example, is impossible). So I also can testify to the fact that depression destroys housework. Since then I have slowly been learning and re-learning to do more chores myself (I was never any good at housekeeping; my mom taught me "Mess 101 through 402"). I would like to see Melissa work on _dirty_ houses and appliances - when you can't see any difference after she is through, I don't find it inspiring.

    I used to work for a housecleaning company, and MY main task was bathrooms because somehow I was one of two people at the company "the best at it." Anyway, we had a routine, or a pattern on how we cleaned the bathrooms. Start with: Spray the shower down with bleach, or bleach alternative, and then the toilet. Saturate these surfaces! You'll do yourself a favor. Then, take out the trash and begin dusting. Now that your bleach (or alternative) has had a chance to soak in, we can clean! Put a washcloth under each foot (the regular kind is fine) to help you scrub the bottom while you move around in the shower cleaning the walls. Then with a third cloth, scrub the shower walls making sure to get all of the crannies too. Dry as you go to avoid spotting. Then, when you reach the floor of the shower, or the tub... it's already got some pre-scrubbing on it, so it wont take long to finish off. Once that's done, move to the toilet, and scrub every surface you can reach with a damp towel, and a brush for the bowl. Flush away the bleach (or alternative) Then we go for the mirror... vinegar water was our choice here... clear off the countertop completely, spray the mirror and wipe with a microfiber towel make sure to scrub a little extra towards the toothpaste gunk areas. Then dry with a regular dry towel. Double check for streaks. Then the cabinet fronts, counter top, sink, floor and DONE. On average I got the pattern down to a point where I could clean a medium size bathroom in about 10 minutes from start to finish with every surface cleaned.

      nightmiztrez I do the same thing with the wash cloth underfoot, but instead of wash cloth I use the scrubbie side of a sponge. My legs are a lot stronger than my arms, does a much better job. I also spray the whole toilet down and spray the shower. Let the product do the work for you.

    Quick tip for people who need to clean the ENTIRE mirror every time they clean the bathroom. Micro fibre clothes do a decent job but SOMETIMES it leaves streaks of fibre marks. I recommend using a sheet of newspaper for this. it does not leave any marks. It helps polish the mirror. AND BEST PART. YOU'RE ACTUALLY RECYCLING NEWSPAPER! (ps. this is how I get rid of all my shoppers and Canadian tire catalogs)

      Khaitoon Katy Kendall Hmmm... Are those shoppers and Canadian tire catalogs in color ink? Would it matter on a mirror or window whether it's color or black/white ink? (Yes, this may be a dumb question, but oddly, I've tossed my color print store ads recently so I have nothing to test at the moment.) I've used plain printed newspaper but wasn't sure about color ads.

    Have you ever tried putting an old rag/t-shirt on the bristle part of the broom, tie it down with a rubberband, then go around the ceiling and corners? You get a larger surface cleaned.

  • @anafelipe8298
    @anafelipe8298 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Hi Melissa,
    Due to physical ailments I clean the tub n tiles differently but it's easier and I find faster. Before anything gets cleaned we spray the wall ties n put whatever cleaning products on the tub so it can do its thing while everything else gets cleaned. I purchased a soft Bristol broom that is only used for cleaning the shower. After cleaning all else in the bathroom we move on to tub. Using the broom we scrub the walls n tub give it a quick rinse n voila! No bending no getting in the tub etc. the broom is left in shower upside down allowing the bristols to drip dry before placing it in a plastic bag for storage.

    I love this video! The only thing I would recommend to others is when cleaning your bathroom tiles (or any tiles) with water and vinegar, is to not use too much vinegar with the solution, as it can attract a lot of unwanted bugs and especially pinchers! I learned that the hard way..another great video, Melissa! I look forward to more :)

    I do a light spritz on the shower floor and grout on door after every shower and let it sit all day. The solution is Meyer's Cleaning Day in Lavender. It smells great and gives an aroma therapy like scent while I'm getting ready. Leaving it all day eliminates build up. Also, I use the vacuum cleaner to pick up all hair before cleaning the floor - way less messy and hair is really hard to get up if it is wet and clinging to the floor from being moved around with a damp cloth. :-)

    After every shower, I always squeegee the tiled walls and then dry the silicone sealant with a towel. It substantially reduces the frequency with which your grout and sealant gets manky with dirt and mould. It also reduces the time it takes your extractor fan to remove the humid air. And there’s no worse job than having to scrape away the mouldy silicone sealant, so a bit of maintenance here saves a lot of scraping later.

      I do the same..you are right..it helps so much!..but I know it still needs weekly cleaning for bacteria. Thinking of spraying shower with distilled water and white vinegar..then squeegee..then no need for a weekly cleaning!

    Well, there is a lot to clean in a bathroom and this is a whole bathroom routine. I can't exactly demonstrate how to properly clean a bathroom in 3 minutes. When people come to the channel, they want to learn how to do something and in order to do that, detail is required along with information. I feel like most people are appreciative of that approach as opposed to rushing through vital information that could really help them clean better.

    I loved that you wiped down your toiletries and nail polish bottles too!! Good job! Window Sills: Wipe all around and top and sides (not only the blinds). Waste basket - should be cleaned/disinfected inside/outside/bottom before putting in new trash bag. Bathroom doors: Not only the door knobs, but the entire door(s) from tip top to bottom and underneath bottom, hinges, and the side where the door latches - to both inside and outside doors. Toilet: Wipe clean/disinfect walls in back of, alongside of, toilet metal hardware, and entire toilet paper area. All bathroom walls and baseboards should be wiped cleaned/disinfected. Cabinets: Clean/disinfect handles, inside and outside cabinets doors and their floors and faucet piping. Mirrors and lighting: Dust/wipe/wash top of mirror and top and inside of lighting. Shower Curtains: Buy new shower liners if they're dirty/brown at the bottom. That's how I clean my bathroom. I clean my floors also with a "Floormate." It vacuums/washes and dries. I will never, ever buy another floor washer. I also use Mr. Clean Magic Sponge to clean any hard-to-remove spots! OH! Don't forget to clean and soak and disinfect the plunger/toilet brush and the holder it sits in.

    Spounges spread bacteria. No one I have ever met ( I do home care) EVER cleans their spounge....Plus you wore gloves, touched the toilet and then re folded your towel, putting toilet germs on your towel....If you use bar towels you dont need the none scratching spounge. You could easily clean the sink when you do the vanity and use the water from the tub instead..... I cleaned houses for years and you go sink, tub, toilet, this way you are cleaning the germiest place last.... I like you videos but from a health perspective you always go clean to dirty, top to bottom. You need to revisit this .....

      true clean toilets last normally use paper towels

    • @maiawashington8468
      @maiawashington8468 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I typically use individual sponges for each area and only use them once. ESPECIALLY the toilet one. I've recently started to be A little less wasteful by using a sponge for the sink and counter and setting it to the side for the sides of the tub (I use a heavy duty tub brush for the floor of the tub). And then after everything, I'll reuse that sponge solely for tee tub one more time for my next clean and throw away. I'm used to cleaning wit sponges tho, so seeing someone clean a toilet with a paper towel throws me off lol. I am super particular about a clean bathroom and her even just walking in there barefoot, cleaning, stopping to put her hair up with all the cleaning products on her hands, getting on the floor in her regular clothes and I don't recall seeing her wash her hands after all that. Makes me not want to trust people and touching them when I go to their house lol😬

      Exactly! And on top of that, is it healthy to clean a bathroom barefooted? I watched this tutorial because i needed some tips on cleaning a bathroom and they were helpful, but health wise there is room for improvement and these small details reduce the credibility. I'd like to see what @cleanmyspace has to say about this.

      I agree about the sponges... what puts me off cleaning a washroom is how to store and clean the cleaning equipment... I want to learn the right way to do it.. people usually just put the scrubbies, sponges etc away carelessly before their next use... Just lying around somewhere in the washroom innocently.. That gives me a dirty, unhygeinic feeling.. But the problem is, i don't know an alternative myself, as i have never been into cleaning much

    How do you get rid of mold in the corners of a bathtub?

    • @Anisia
      @Anisia 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use Cillit Bang Mold spray for this (black bottle) - i spray it locally and leave overnight, then wipe it clean. It helped me to remove mold from shower corners, silicone grout sealer in the kitchen & bathroom (i thought that was impossible to do before) and even ceiling corners. Hardest thing to remove mold from turned out to be washing machine rubber parts, but i repeatedly applied the solution and covered with cloth overnight, and after three-four applications it was perfectly clean as well! I also use it (or white Bleach & Hygiene variety) to whiten my light stone kitchen sink several times a year, when nothing else helps.
      I guess regular bleach will work too. Both Cillit Bang and bleach smell like hell though. And please don't ever ever use it together with vinegar!

    hey, I wanted to recommend the bathroom scrub brush see ive added to my bathroom that make cleaning relatively easier.
    velida has a scrubbing sponge attached to a stick, that allows you to clean your bathroom without putting too much strain in your back. Walmart sells it for about $20.
    There's also a rotor scrub brush available by black and Decker to clean your tiles and grout. there's also diy tutorials on how to attach a regular scrub brush to a drill machine, making scrubbing simpler.

    Q1: Why do you need 5 microfiber cloths, and when do you change them?
    Q2: I shed like a dog and my floor and everything including inside the drawers gets covered with hair. Every sponge or scrubber or cloth or broom or vacuum gets embedded with hair and even tho it's my own hair it grosses me out. It's the worst in the bathroom because I style my hair there. Any suggestions for controlling hair in the bathroom?
