It occurs to me now that as strong as Ayon is, there was a good reason not to match him up against other Captains. He had his best possible showing against people with no Bankai. So Yama taking him down only made Yama even more the man. Where as if Ayon was summoned and instantly got cut in half by Zaraki, nobody would care.
Well there’s also the fact that he basically used no release to split him in half. Even if a captain showed up they would probably need a technique to damage Ayon.
