    The Fly Baby is a homebuilt, single-seat, open-cockpit, wood and fabric low-wing monoplane that was designed by famed United States aircraft designer Peter M. Bowers. It is by all accounts one of the simplest homebuilt airplane designs and has proven to be a very reliable and economical aircraft to own.
    Just like the full-size, this 1.4 metre wingspan Fly Baby is simple to build, great to look at, economical to own and a fun to fly. With features such as the modelled plastic engine cylinders and cowl, the scale undercarriage with large shock-absorbing tires, detailed single seat cockpit, large wooden propeller and sprung rigging wire, this model really looks the part!
    The Plug and Play (PNP) version of the Fly Baby can be ready to fly within 15 minutes of opening the box thanks to its clever design. The wing simply bolts on as well as the undercarriage and tail assembly. The rigging wire are pre-made and simply require clipping in place. The decals are pre-applied but are quite thin and fragile to the touch so spraying some clear lacquer over the top would be a good idea. The wheels are very hard so if flying off asphalt you may want to swap them for softer foam wheels of the same size. We found that the CG was better about 30mm further forward than recommended in the factory instructions. We also recommend using 30% exponential on the ailerons and elevator for a smooth flying experience.
    Unfortunately this model does NOT come with a pilot so we took this from another model to give it that perfect scale appearance in the air. Otherwise that is one small negative point for a model that would be ideal as a second model for any enthusiastic RC pilot.
    Filmed by Al for the 'Essential RC' TH-cam channel using the Panasonic AG-UX180 Pro 4K camcorder. Jason flies the TAFT Fly Baby.

    Another cool video, Dom. Glad to see these are still available. Are you expecting to do a video on the Taft Yak 11 6S? I have one on order and was curious.

      TAFT Yak arrived at the weekend so we intend to flight test it next weekend. Look out for the video early next week...assuming all goes well. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    Nice plane, The tailwheel & engine parts are the same as the HK navy j3 Cub 1400mm.

      I suspect it's made by the same company and just sold under a different brand. Cheers Dom (Essential RC)

    I really like the colour scheme. Personally I would not bother putting those those non functional wire cables on.

    Hi essential rc,having know that you had bought this at Banggood.Had they taxed u on this product?

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don't add tax to the price but import tax may be added when it comes into your country. I very rarely get taxed on anything that comes in from Banggood into UK.

    Young folks seem to be liking the electric planes. Gas is the way to be.

    • @EssentialRC

      Maybe in your part of the world John but more and more RC flying clubs are getting very noise sensitive. Electric is the only way around it. Add to that that electric setups are just simpler. No tuning or mess.

      @@EssentialRC yes. You just mentioned most of the bad things about electric. If you find it fun then great stuff. You can simplify anything in life if you wish to.

      At 77 I find electric is the simple way to go and as I fly, not tinker, throw a model, battery and TX in the car and go. No extra gear, mucking around filling tanks, cleaning spills, emptying tanks, carting extra gear, fuel soaking in under coverings, cleaning up the model and engine at the end of the day, washing oil oaked clothing when returning home.
      But yes, I fly both.
