@@TubbaTubba-em2tmshe was actually first in the preliminary. She lost some ground and came in fifth during the semis. Once she was in the final 3, she surged forward and won the crown.
Courtney Gibbs was upset that Kenya won. Well too bad. I remember when Courtney won Miss USA. There was something about her personality that was not right. The two gorgeous blondes looked like Kenya's bookends. Kenya was outstanding. 👑 💐 🌹 🌟 🏆
Personally, I don't see what the hype over Kenya was, and still don't see it after all these years. I was even more confused about Kansas making it, I didn't like her at all. This was definitely a year where I kind of shook my head at half the semi-finalists. I was pulling for Hawaii and Pennsylvania and was torn between which one I liked more. I thought both would have made an excellent Miss USA. Georgia was pretty, but too much of the over prepared pageant girl.
Kansas had the home state advantage. She also had the advantage of being guided to her answer during the judge's q and a. Hawaii got the same question that Miss USA 1990, Carole Gist, got during her q and a and tried to answer convincingly, but couldn't.
Then and now, I think it was two things that happened to Miss Pennsylvania during the Finalists/Top 6 question round: She became tense or fazed by the very high standard of answers two in a row before it was her turn. And then the other was just the usual feeling pressure when the contest was moving ahead and becoming tighter.
The judges were keeping score. If it were up to Moll and Pride she definitely would have lost. Both of them seem to not like her. Thankfully the other judges stepped up in areas where those too fell short.
In the end when Kenya won and was sitting on her throne Miss USA 1988 that was hosting she did not even have the dignity to go over and congratulate her. Such an ass.
They really didn't predict that Kenya would do well, but she surprised them all. Great job, Kenya!
She had one of the highest prelim averages. She was a front runner.

@@PungiFungi yes she edged out Hawaii by .03 in prelims
They need to bring this back ❤
I cried watching Kenya win
The Queen, what a moment in time 😍
I love that her grandmother was an audience just rooting her on so proud of her!! R.I.p to her grandmother ❤️
Kenya ate them up during the Q&A
I know this moment her grandmother so proud
The US airforce academy can sing... I keep listening to those harmonies. 😯
The 90"s knew how do Evening Gown right!
Kenya Moore and Kelly Hu scored the highest during prelims.
51:45 Dick said CBS when he was also on NBC at time with Scattergories
And with ABC producing the American Music Awards and New Year's Rockin' Eve.
this happened so quick 💀
Watching Kenya Moore crowned when I was a kid was the minute I knew I was gay.

Lol 😂😂 please the two have nothing to do with each other
This made me cry awww Kenya 😊

Richard Moll seems really hard to please.
He's a freakin' hater
It's not a surprise, because he's known in his career to be more serious and almost critical. That's why his judging style here was like that.
Queen Kenya Moore
I was rooting for PA and HI, but Kenya was the only one who could have handled the pressure given her by the Mexican audience.
Couldn’t stand Georgia. Pure pageant Patty. I loved New Jersey. I felt sorry for Pennsylvania when she froze during the question and answer segment.

Kansas had no business to be in top 3.. its should be Georgia. Michigan and Hawaii
46:58 welp that slur didn't age well
Totally agree with Pennsylvania's statement about school uniforms
Kenya was so robbed at miss universe. She gave the best answer in the top6 and was left out in the top 3
Can we talk about cultural appropriation in those costumes???
How did kenya win? It seems like people were more exited for miss kansas
Because she deserved to win it’s refreshing to see a beautiful black woman win something like miss USA 🇺🇸 👸🏿
It was in Kansas that's why
Because she did😇

Miss Kansas messed up the final question, that's why she didn't win.

Maybe she didn't like Kenya's personality. It happens.
Georgia and Kansas are my favorite.
The former Miss USA from 1988 is better looking than all the girls on stage combined from 1993. Wow, what a stunner Miss Courtney Gibbs is.
The racism 😂 blacks can be counted
