I will forever unapologetically love this movie. Glad to see people warming up to it!

I can tell you're a fan because I saw your video on it after I had recorded mine!
It's pretty nice to see Gunhed still getting love today here in Japan!

@@ZettaiJapan Thanks! I do suppose because of the new BD, my video with MD Chaos is a little dated, but I'm glad to see someone continue to spread the Gunhed love. Keep up the great work!

I remember watching Gunhead and being surprised to see the credits say "Directed by Alan Smithie"

It's one of my favorite movies. I've always love mechanized stuff and the soundtrack is awesome. Bought the cd years ago and good thing I did because it is hard to find one now.

9:24 So my favorite Godzilla movie would not have been without the mess that is Gunhed. I'm still disappointed that Gunhed has no real plot with real characters because I would like it to be a better movie. On the same level as the great atmosphere conceived by the music and the visuals. - Thanks for the video. 👍

I randomly came across this on cable one night, but missed the title card and had no clue what I was watching until years later. Kind of wished I could find the original novels now.

If you're looking for those original novels then I hope your Japanese is perfect, because they'll probably be untranslated forever

I think I'm not alone in this one, but more real robot mecha tokusatsu would not only be great, it would elevate mecha to even more the cultural juggernaut it always was. Just imagine it, Gundam but live action tokusatsu with special effects on par if not surpassing the likes of Godzilla Minus One and Ulraman Blazaar and storytelling/world-building that is classic Gundam at its core as well as introducing new ideas and concepts like interstellar travel for one.

    Heck yes, Gunhed!
The official US release of the manga is interesting. They colorized it, and it's full of ads promising that the film would be hitting America that year (spoilers: it didn't). Kawakita actually went back and did a short film that was included with some of the model kits, which was part of them becoming such great sellers.... I'm still hoping for a sofubi, though. Another neat Godzilla connection is Gunhed's cameo in Hurricane Ryu's short story for The Godzilla Comic.
Also, it's always amusing to point out that Blazing Lazers is Kanye West's favorite video game.

Oh man really interested in what the colorized version looks like, I'm surprised I didn't come across it in my research!

Ah, a weapon to surpass Metal Gear... Gunhed... which is a Metal Gear, kinda!
I do believe this could serve for a manga series, animated show, even another live-action movie.
It has enough potential, but the old stuff probably needs to be rebooted.
Personaly I still need the DVD, movie has a certain 80s style/tone I prefer, even though the movie itself isn't thaaat good.
But it's a mecha movie, with big stompy mechs... that prefer to drive around.
In that case "Robot Jox / Crash & Burn" is better.

I absolutely love this movie, I’ve been trying to find this on blu-ray forever, but what I like about this movie was my favourite industrial band Front Line Assembly, used scenes from this movie in their music video for one of my all time favourite songs Mindphaser from their album tactical neural implant. Check it out sometime 👍🍻
