      The thing that makes him especially amazing is not just his speed and precision. It’s that he can do it in any style. All these great players have their own unique set of licks that depend on their idiosyncrasies, but he can play them all note-for-note exactly the way the legends play them. He’s the guitar version of being able to box exactly like Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Muhammad Ali, whenever he wants and change between what style he wants to use whenever he wants.

    Very interesting... Young Troy has a very Yngwie influenced picking technique back then. Anchored 2-3 fingers and much more hand supination compared to now.... Now he is trying to not touch with his fingers... His picking has evolved and improved huge amounts which goes to show the study he has put into it and discovery of all these different movements from his cracking the code series... Bravo Troy!

      Cracking the Code was in some weird purgatory-like "COMING SOON" state for years and years until 2014. There were a handful of videos and articles on the original website. As far as I know all of it has been purged from the net and the only chance of seeing it again would be people who saved them 10+ years ago reuploading them.

  • @rickschneider3887
    @rickschneider3887 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I don’t see any tuning pegs on the headstock. That looks like a regular Floyd Rose trem so how in the world do you tighten the strings???

  • @ubershredder1989
    @ubershredder1989 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Many people admire you for your fast picking and right hand control. However I think your left hand equally stands out just as much, if not more, among the great players. Great form, stability and efficient technique.. Almost surgical!
    What I also noticed about your left hand are the inactive fingers. When playing a 1-3-4 finger combination, I notice you fold your middle finger down into the palm. The same for the ring finger when playing 1-2-4 combinations. When playing 1-2-3 combinations, I notice you actually extend the pinky outwards instead.
    I have started applying this concept to my playing and have noticed my scales improving for the better, and pull-offs are coming out more fluidly and with ease. There are still a few hiccups here and there, as I need to improve flexor strength and flexibility in order to curl those fingers in with ease.
    I was wondering how did you come about to applying this concept of inactive fingers in your playing; did it happen naturally? Or did you observe this from other players? I notice some Gypsy Jazz players use this concept too. Could you give me some tips and advice? Thank you.

    This is interesting to see. He looks like 15 years younger than in the "Cracking the Code" videos. WHAT ARE THOSE HIDDEN TUNING PEGS HE'S USING OR IS IT SOME TYPE OF HEADLESS SETUP?? And, wow, I think Troy's picking was at it's peak here, very Paul Gilbert in style. I really enjoyed all the shred playing he did in this video. How did you get this Carlos? LOL!
