  • Indigenous communities have looked after their ancestral forests for millennia, cultivating immense amounts of knowledge on how to protect, nourish and heal these vital environments. Today, 470 million Indigenous people care for and manage 80 percent of the world's biodiversity -- yet their legal rights to these lands are inexplicit and subject to exploitation by illegal loggers, miners and companies. Human rights lawyer Nonette Royo describes how her team at the Tenure Facility, an organization that provides legal assistance to Indigenous people by taking their land rights battles to court, will help these communities secure and defend 50 million hectares of forests over the next five years.

As much good work as she's done and is doing we, the people of earth, need more. This won't get fixed at the core problem until governments fix themselves and their internal corruption that has enabled earth's lungs to contract planetary lung cancer! Heal the trees and preserve biodiversity!

Indigenous forest guardianship is crucial to climate action, as these communities have valuable insights into how to protect and restore ecosystems, reduce carbon emissions, and adapt to the impacts of climate change. By supporting Indigenous peoples in their efforts to protect the environment, we can not only safeguard biodiversity and ecosystem services but also uphold Indigenous rights and promote social justice.

This is silly. Why is an adult seriously suggesting that governmental policy be dependent upon retrograde cultish belief that such vague concepts as spirits exist, especially as interactive entities?

We have to involve all countries in this climate strategy. The first one to lead is the U.S. State Department, which is the largest hydrocarbon polluter on the planet with the various ships and jets around the world. The next step is for rich countries to reforest their own countries, because there is no point in the poor conserving for the rich to continue to pollute with their industries and their high standard of living.

This is vital work, not only to prevent climate catastrophe and further climate refugees and property losses, yet also to protect the biodiversity and ecological processes that underpin all of our lives and livelihoods.
What they are doing it important, and let's start these conversations within business and governments so we can an economic system that truly values people and planet above short-term profit only.

This planet desperately needs humanity to go extinct. Our own egotism is the *only* thing on the planet that would attempt a feeble, evidence-ignorant argument in favor of our survival. If humanity wants to have proven itself to have any value whatsoever, it should focus on how to leave behind something better to replace us and then get out of the way, so at least we can have something positive as our legacy. Instead of fearing AI, we should design it toward being a beneficent, nature-nurturing steward that helps mitigate the suffering of organic life forms. This is something we can’t be, and is better than even the gods we’ve imagined. But we might have time to create it. And then we need to disappear like the evolutionary dead-end we are.
