I remember that i got the new knife like 3 days ago, and i went and played solo zombies with it. I got to round 26 and got my knife to level 20. I died because i jumped into the train just because i wanted too pet the dog i had used brain rot on LoL.

The camo grind is definitely backwards, it should be easy enough to rank up a weapon but the grind comes in the challenges, not impossible to level it up and the challenges are a breeze
I want to go for Dark Matter but leveling these weapons up is just too horridly slow. I only play SnD so I wanted to level the guns up there and go to hc to finish off challenges. It's just painful.
Have the XM4 and MP5 done, XM4 I have about 1200 kills and mp5 was done in about 700 I leveled the MP5 in zombies and xm4 was done purely in multiplayer

That's 2 games of round 50 I pretty much played with them... Over 8 hours and they are only level 20 and 12.... Sooooo slow

For all you zombie grinders I have some experience to share. I have been going through SKS, AK, and RPD as my first guns. I have only been using one gun at a time (start with it and keep upgrading it along with Packing it). I have noticed in a solo game of round 30-35 I can get around 3 to 4 gun levels. I got my SKS from 29 to 33 and got my AK from level 38 to 41. I got the level 40 zombie camos done within 5 minutes of getting level 40. I'm estimating to get to 50 it will take 3-5 more games with each game lasting around 1 hour to an hour and a half. (3 to 4 hours probably) What sucks is between levels 41 and 50 there is nothing to unlock, besides reticles for the different sights, which sucks. *edit for note- I have around 5,000 kills on SKS (level 33 all in zombies) and Ak is level 41 with around 7,500 zombie kills ( I have around 70 multiplayer kills with it too).

I found the knife quite easy to get to gold Viper (only had to get to level 30 for camos though) Ive got about 8 hours in zombies now and probably did the knife in about 4-5 hours. Although that was with a decent private 3 man lobby where every game we're getting to at least round 35.

The longer people are stuck grinding, the more time there is for them to spend money. Activision doesn't care. They will do everything they can to milk the money out of this franchise.
A thing I noticed, however it may be similar to your finding of "damaging a zombie but not killing it makes you get XP for your teammates' weapon" The thing is : If I used the Ring of Fire skill and my teammate sits inside it and kills zombie, I get XP for his weapon as well. I don't know if it's something similar to "You participate in the damage dealt by his weapon by increasing it, so you get XP for it too." I'll need to try it out if I can

Got to round 115 in zombies using shotguns, it took like 7-8 hours, the guns level, 21. It started at 3. The camo challenges and mastery challenges are so easy but I can’t even start on them since it takes so long to level guns up. Also I’ve been having this weird issue where it’ll say I’ve leveled up but the level/ number I am on the top of the screen doesn’t align with what the notification says, but the more frequently I pause the game, check social, do online stuff, the more it seems to update, it’s like some xp gets lost somewhere along the way unless you babysit your network connection my last game said I’d reach level 67 but when I finished I was only level 59, and it happened with the previous game too, it seems like with high round games it stops tracking xp properly which is super frustrating.
@@seanptk8043 theres a super cheese shotgun/ raygun combo, you abuse kill streaks and just kind of camp, it’s pretty lame and considering it seems like the XP is bugged I don’t know if high rounds like that are worth it. Oh the spot is between pond and the tunnel I’m 90% sure there are tutorials for it if you’re interested, you do still get a lot of xp (end of that round it said I had around 900,000) but it takes forever and you need to be able to buy/ build self revives. I also don’t know if it’ll work with anything other than a fully packed legendary shotgun and the raygun. Also camping doesn’t really feel like zombies so idk
I wanted to put an update on zombies xp, it has been confirmed by devs that the higher the round the less XP you get for gun progress so honestly there’s no point going past round 40 for gun XP
The weapon leveling is slower than molasses. I played a match trying to level the GL- and I played a solo match for about 1hr I got 2k Kills, a lot of medals, finished a lot of camos and when I exfiled at round 45 I guess the game bugged out or something, because my game went black, didn't show an after action report or no "server disconnect" when I checked my status I had only 129 eliminations and was still at level 1. It's was so frustrating that I quit.
Same its like how in old cod games I didnt know what to do when I was done grinding but in this game it already feels like I make no progress. The first 25-30 weapon levels aren't bad but after that it is way to slow
Just hit level 100 and I’m barely about to get diamond AR’s. On one hand I like it because it will make camos rare but damn 6 hours per weapon is crazy!
The biggest thing is, unlike MW2019 where all attachments were "sidegrades" that made your gun better at something and worse at something else, in Cold War there are attachments that explicitly make your gun better. Going into MP with a level 1 weapon actually puts you at a disadvantage. So now I'm basically just playing zombies until I get all the guns I care about to level 10 or so.
@@bioforce5 my first gold was the knife so when I use it in multi it won’t matter how I kill someone it will go towards a camo. Going to do the same with launchers as well. Since those are the worst things to use in multi.
Amazing video, so in dept. I love it! This is the stuff I want to know to save the time if possible since little adjustments can save you hours. I notice you're playing on pc, on playstation there is a 25% weaponxp bonus in partys. That wouldve explained the xp difference when playing with others but then you're not playing on ps4 so I dont know anymore lmao. awesome video!
I have a handful of clips all showing that I ranked up my held gun when I injured an enemy and someone finished with a different gun in MP, as opposed to the opposite in Zombies, but if you have something to the contrary maybe it could give xp for both weapons or is somehow random based on who dealt more damage, who knows.
I’m currently going for Dark Aether because that’s how much I’m enjoying zombies, but leveling up all these weapons is an absolute pain. They definitely should make it much easier to max them out. I mean, camo challenges are a grind themselves, there’s no reason whatsoever to make such grind even longer by a country mile.
I definitely recommend leveling up your launchers in Zombies! That way you can work on all your kill challenges at once. Instead of going to get your 50 kills at level one, you could do it at level 30 and not miss out on challenges. The worst feeling is getting a 3 killstreak or double kill but not earning progress because it wasn't high enough level.
Solid plan if you want to rush it, but I love doing launchers passively and don't mind shooting down spy planes at the start of each life for however long it takes, and I definitely won't be using it as a weapon until later of course

i thought i was losing my mind, glad that pretty much the whole community agrees that weapon xp is miniscule. considering how important attachments are, those at lower levels are gonna get destroyed until they slowly climb their way up those weapon levels, then they stomp on lower weapon level players, rinse and repeat. it’s a drag and honestly the second biggest offputting aspect of this game. 1st being that ridiculous scorestreak system (rip objective playing i guess)
So from my experience I took my 10 hours in game to get the pump shot gun to maxc level and gold zombie skin. I was purely solo zombies. With that. i disagree on the leveling been 'off' The game is here for year or two? even an hour a day, you'd get there in a week or so, per weaponry. And a final point, most people absolutely put 8 hours day into gaming, especially in current situations!! love the vid dude, subbed
Interesting thought, but I thought based on wording that was only be for PS players who partied up with each other, and that partying with a cross-platform friend just wouldn't take away their xp. Also, in the private group matches I was only partied with my PC friend. Anyway, if that did happen in the pubs, the 25% wouldn't account for the craziness
I think I'm going to pass on Cold War entirely as I'm not feeling the game, and the gridn for Damascus in MW left me with PTSD from the excessive grind
same with me, i started my grind for dark aether 4 days ago and im still on XM4. I’ve exfilled at round 30 average every game with around 600-1000 kills every time. it sucks
@@aiac5108 no, because you’ve had double my play time and have probably been using better zombies guns than the M4. XM4 in zombies really isnt that good.
The losing XP thing has been extremely common for me, it feels like everyday I come on the game I lose some XP on guns to the point where I have attachments on them which I unlocked before but are now locked
i like it that it takes longer to get them to max lvl, having longer something to grind for isnt always bad. When it goes too quick there will be again ppl complaining about its too fast, nothing to do anymore and stuff like that.
I was wondering something yesterday while playing with a friend, I’ve been leveling up the thumper and I was getting a lot of kills where I would shoot someone with my primary and run out of ammo and finish them with the thumper. Is that giving both my primary and secondary weapon xp even though it’s one kill 🤔 the elimination system makes me believe yes but idk
I think it only gives you xp for one of them. I’ve done this with smgs/pistol and sniper/pistol combos and i cannot remember which one it gives xp for but i think its the one you shoot with first.
Big brain strat- do quad zombies and load in each with a different gun and get progress on 4 guns at once (mainly your equipped weapon and small amounts for the other 3)
Yeah not surprised here really, even some of the stats on the Stat list in mp witch are supposedly "directly taken from the code" aren't correct. I think that working from home hasn't helped treyarch stop releasing buggy mess that they'll fix in a month or two, remember bo4? Honestly this is just a beta with more content at this point lmao

Campaign was disappointing to say the least, the multiplayer isn’t garbage, VIPEX is a great game mod, but the maps aren’t great in my opinion. 10v10 TDM shouldn’t be on the short version of crossroads. VIPEX shouldn’t be on crossroads large Map. And other issues with the MP5 being a god weapon and beating anything and everything except maybe shot guns. The XM4 is the least competitive weapon in the game, the m16 out does it, and it doesn’t feel accurate at long range. I also wondering how and why and what guns they’re going to import to warzone. Makes little sense to me what they’d bring over unless it’s just skins and stuff. Thus far I find myself playing MW multiplayer more my self but with friends I play BO
It was disappointing. I’m not saying the story sucked or anything, but it was just too quick and ended so fast. I didn’t like that at all. You make your choice and have 3 different outcomes and bam that’s it? To me It was good in that regard.
I leveled up my m4 during a zombies match, completed all the "Kill 10 zombies rapidly 20 times" in that same game, after action report showed the camos, but they were locked until I unlocked them all again. Was a little annoying but at least it was a challenge that naturally happens when finishing your trains.
Hey man fyi i think your 1000 kills in multi to get to weapon level 50 is on point. My mp5 is almost 50 and i am almost at 1000 kills with it. This was hella helpful
One thing to note, if you use a weapon that you haven’t unlocked yet, you won’t get EXP until you reach the level requirement to unlock it. For zombies at least, I’m mainly playing it. So you can’t get a head start before equipping it in a loadout. Proof: I used the Spas12 before I reached level 34 and once i unlocked it was still level 1 with no exp progress.
For niche weapons like the knife and thumper, it's better because you don't heavy to worry about I'm dying so quickly. In one short match, I got 3 levels on the knife and I was only using it for 2/3 of the match.
It took me until prestige level 8 to get the 1911 maxed out. I didn't use it in every game, but I'd say about 70% of my games and it is my most used weapon.
It would be such a simple solution to fix this: Don't allow party members to join games/matchmaking in progress. It should have you form your party first and then join the matchmaking queue.
I’ve been getting that glitch where someone finishes your kill and you get XP for their gun for the last few Call of duty is now not just the ones with more health either I noticed it with modern warfare and World War II
Just for some extra numbers: Maxed out the stoner at approx. 1839 zombie kills and 639 multiplayer kills/ 772 eliminations (they are different in the combat record) for the rpd, I have 94 zombie kills and 1142 kills/1301 eliminations. I’ve only used the xm4 and mp5 for a meaningful amount of time: xm4 at 196 Elims and mp5 at 273 elims. With that said, I think I can say the majority of my time; 8hrs 46 min on zombies and 17hrs 49 min on multiplayer was spent on the 2 lmgs. This averages around 13 hours to max a gun. That’s pretty insane if u ask me.
slow is an understatement I have 7506 kills in zombies with the m16 and its lvl 45, my 2nd best gun (74u) has 2861 kills and is only lvl 32 I'm already prestige 2 with 1d 17hrs played, i don't know how acti thought this system would be any good for casuals, dark matter camo should be the main grind not getting your prefered scope/gold for your favourite weapon. hope it gets changed on dec 10
A lot of these points are why I’m waiting for them to balance/fix the game. Would be interesting to see a game do a boost the first three or four games a day for people who have limited time.
I can’t watch the full video at this moment, but I think that zombies makes unlocking issues seem easier because it is based on grinding, not getting killed because you didn’t have attachments
from my small amount of testing if you leave a mp game and you unlocked a camo or ranked up a gun it will give you that reward but at the start of the next game that previous games xp and unlocks will be gone
The problem arises when you get from level 30-40 and then from level 40-55, the XP needed to level up at those thresholds ramp up significantly. It takes a whole day of play to get from 40-55 but you can get from 1-30/40 in the same time.
Nope, all PC. Even if I did I wouldn't get any bonus as I'm on PC. I believe the description of the exclusive just states that playing crossplatform won't "ruin" the bonus the PS players get, not that everyone gets it.
I'm just leveling up everything upto level 30 in zombies then at least I have attachments to use in MP and I'll be able to progress on a few camos at the same time. And I'm not touching snipers and weapons Im not good with untill 2WXP comes in. I think the most efficient strat for both Dark Aether and DM Ultra is to start each gun in zombies reach level 30 then go to MP get the camos challenges you have available done then go back to zombies and finish off back in MP.
That level roll back thing happened to me 2 times in one day. I'd level up I know i saw i unlocked a new sight I'd go in gunsmith to unlock it and it wasn't there did the same with my camos
I decided to take note of my stats at one point in zombies as soon as my gun ranked up because it felt like I was earning no weapon xp later on in a game, it took me 650 eliminations from round 28-34 to go up an entire level. The next game with the same weapon from the start of the game I went up 1 and a half levels with the same amount of kills from round 1-21. I don’t think we get rewarded as well in later game zombies

They really do, I heard that one zombie kill is 14 xp which is way too low

Do shotguns, pistols, specials, and launchers first because they only go to level 30, get everything else to level 30 then wait for double weapon xp

Yes. It is too slow. It sucks. Getting Gold Viper on a weapon with 50+ lvls took me 5 days (playing zombies for like 3 hours per day).

Then maybe a good strategy would be for 2 people to go in with the same wep so they can always gain wep xp no matter who gets the kill.

Oh the spot is between pond and the tunnel I’m 90% sure there are tutorials for it if you’re interested, you do still get a lot of xp (end of that round it said I had around 900,000) but it takes forever and you need to be able to buy/ build self revives. I also don’t know if it’ll work with anything other than a fully packed legendary shotgun and the raygun. Also camping doesn’t really feel like zombies so idk
I wanted to put an update on zombies xp, it has been confirmed by devs that the higher the round the less XP you get for gun progress so honestly there’s no point going past round 40 for gun XP

The weapon leveling is slower than molasses. I played a match trying to level the GL- and I played a solo match for about 1hr I got 2k Kills, a lot of medals, finished a lot of camos and when I exfiled at round 45 I guess the game bugged out or something, because my game went black, didn't show an after action report or no "server disconnect" when I checked my status I had only 129 eliminations and was still at level 1. It's was so frustrating that I quit.

The xp grind is what’s killing this game for me. It feels like there’s just no progression and there’s no reward
Same its like how in old cod games I didnt know what to do when I was done grinding but in this game it already feels like I make no progress. The first 25-30 weapon levels aren't bad but after that it is way to slow
They just patched the weird shared weapon xp in zombies: "Addressed an issue that caused weapon XP to be earned on weapons used by teammates"

Wanted to say I think your weapon xp is spot on from doing my snipers I found 1000 kills in multiplayer is about lvl 50 every time.
Honestly ranking up in zombies is the way to go. When you go into multi you can complete multiple challenges at once.
The biggest thing is, unlike MW2019 where all attachments were "sidegrades" that made your gun better at something and worse at something else, in Cold War there are attachments that explicitly make your gun better. Going into MP with a level 1 weapon actually puts you at a disadvantage. So now I'm basically just playing zombies until I get all the guns I care about to level 10 or so.
@@bioforce5 my first gold was the knife so when I use it in multi it won’t matter how I kill someone it will go towards a camo. Going to do the same with launchers as well. Since those are the worst things to use in multi.

I notice you're playing on pc, on playstation there is a 25% weaponxp bonus in partys. That wouldve explained the xp difference when playing with others but then you're not playing on ps4 so I dont know anymore lmao.

I have a handful of clips all showing that I ranked up my held gun when I injured an enemy and someone finished with a different gun in MP, as opposed to the opposite in Zombies, but if you have something to the contrary maybe it could give xp for both weapons or is somehow random based on who dealt more damage, who knows.

I’m currently going for Dark Aether because that’s how much I’m enjoying zombies, but leveling up all these weapons is an absolute pain. They definitely should make it much easier to max them out.
I mean, camo challenges are a grind themselves, there’s no reason whatsoever to make such grind even longer by a country mile.

@@Jf179_ I have Modern Warfare and Cold War but the leveling in Cold War multiplayer is so slow. You level up pretty fast in Warzone.
I definitely recommend leveling up your launchers in Zombies! That way you can work on all your kill challenges at once. Instead of going to get your 50 kills at level one, you could do it at level 30 and not miss out on challenges. The worst feeling is getting a 3 killstreak or double kill but not earning progress because it wasn't high enough level.
I recommend the same for the knife and thumper(which is much easier than it sounds, they're actually very good when Pack-aPunched)
Solid plan if you want to rush it, but I love doing launchers passively and don't mind shooting down spy planes at the start of each life for however long it takes, and I definitely won't be using it as a weapon until later of course

i thought i was losing my mind, glad that pretty much the whole community agrees that weapon xp is miniscule. considering how important attachments are, those at lower levels are gonna get destroyed until they slowly climb their way up those weapon levels, then they stomp on lower weapon level players, rinse and repeat. it’s a drag and honestly the second biggest offputting aspect of this game. 1st being that ridiculous scorestreak system (rip objective playing i guess)
Non attachment weapons are so bad that you're better off playing zombies until around level 20-30 for the weapon and then going back to multiplayer.
If you don’t have the data I have a maxed out xm4 in multiplayer and it took 1344 kills to get gold and get level 55 on the weapon

So from my experience
I took my 10 hours in game to get the pump shot gun to maxc level and gold zombie skin.
I was purely solo zombies.
With that. i disagree on the leveling been 'off' The game is here for year or two? even an hour a day, you'd get there in a week or so, per weaponry.
And a final point, most people absolutely put 8 hours day into gaming, especially in current situations!!

When playing zombies with the randoms were any of them on Playstation? Maybe the higher weapon XP was due to the PS bonus for the exclusivity?
Interesting thought, but I thought based on wording that was only be for PS players who partied up with each other, and that partying with a cross-platform friend just wouldn't take away their xp. Also, in the private group matches I was only partied with my PC friend. Anyway, if that did happen in the pubs, the 25% wouldn't account for the craziness

Your right, it takes 1,250 kills in multiplayer to be level 50, I did it for 3 Assault rifles. Grind is tuff.

same with me, i started my grind for dark aether 4 days ago and im still on XM4. I’ve exfilled at round 30 average every game with around 600-1000 kills every time. it sucks
it took me 14k kills with the krieg 6 to get gold viper camo, not even max rank

The losing XP thing has been extremely common for me, it feels like everyday I come on the game I lose some XP on guns to the point where I have attachments on them which I unlocked before but are now locked

i like it that it takes longer to get them to max lvl, having longer something to grind for isnt always bad. When it goes too quick there will be again ppl complaining about its too fast, nothing to do anymore and stuff like that.
I was wondering something yesterday while playing with a friend, I’ve been leveling up the thumper and I was getting a lot of kills where I would shoot someone with my primary and run out of ammo and finish them with the thumper. Is that giving both my primary and secondary weapon xp even though it’s one kill 🤔 the elimination system makes me believe yes but idk
I think it only gives you xp for one of them. I’ve done this with smgs/pistol and sniper/pistol combos and i cannot remember which one it gives xp for but i think its the one you shoot with first.
Big brain strat- do quad zombies and load in each with a different gun and get progress on 4 guns at once (mainly your equipped weapon and small amounts for the other 3)
How do you get kills with the first launcher? Than thing has zero splash damage

I don’t even know if that’s. Campaign was disappointing to say the least, the multiplayer isn’t garbage, VIPEX is a great game mod, but the maps aren’t great in my opinion.
10v10 TDM shouldn’t be on the short version of crossroads. VIPEX shouldn’t be on crossroads large Map.
And other issues with the MP5 being a god weapon and beating anything and everything except maybe shot guns.
The XM4 is the least competitive weapon in the game, the m16 out does it, and it doesn’t feel accurate at long range.
I also wondering how and why and what guns they’re going to import to warzone. Makes little sense to me what they’d bring over unless it’s just skins and stuff.
Thus far I find myself playing MW multiplayer more my self but with friends I play BO

With zombies again it took roughly 6k kills for a level 30 weapon. (Pistols, Shotguns, Launchers and Special Weapons)

I leveled up my m4 during a zombies match, completed all the "Kill 10 zombies rapidly 20 times" in that same game, after action report showed the camos, but they were locked until I unlocked them all again. Was a little annoying but at least it was a challenge that naturally happens when finishing your trains.
Hey man fyi i think your 1000 kills in multi to get to weapon level 50 is on point. My mp5 is almost 50 and i am almost at 1000 kills with it. This was hella helpful
One thing to note, if you use a weapon that you haven’t unlocked yet, you won’t get EXP until you reach the level requirement to unlock it. For zombies at least, I’m mainly playing it. So you can’t get a head start before equipping it in a loadout.
Proof: I used the Spas12 before I reached level 34 and once i unlocked it was still level 1 with no exp progress.
Did my Damascus during shipment and shoot house individual 24/7 playlists. Easiest grind of my life lol

For niche weapons like the knife and thumper, it's better because you don't heavy to worry about I'm dying so quickly. In one short match, I got 3 levels on the knife and I was only using it for 2/3 of the match.
It took me until prestige level 8 to get the 1911 maxed out. I didn't use it in every game, but I'd say about 70% of my games and it is my most used weapon.
Took me 1200 kills on the mp5 to get it max level so seems pretty accurate!
It would be such a simple solution to fix this: Don't allow party members to join games/matchmaking in progress.
It should have you form your party first and then join the matchmaking queue.
I’ve been getting that glitch where someone finishes your kill and you get XP for their gun for the last few Call of duty is now not just the ones with more health either I noticed it with modern warfare and World War II
Just for some extra numbers:
Maxed out the stoner at approx. 1839 zombie kills and 639 multiplayer kills/ 772 eliminations (they are different in the combat record) for the rpd, I have 94 zombie kills and 1142 kills/1301 eliminations. I’ve only used the xm4 and mp5 for a meaningful amount of time: xm4 at 196 Elims and mp5 at 273 elims. With that said, I think I can say the majority of my time; 8hrs 46 min on zombies and 17hrs 49 min on multiplayer was spent on the 2 lmgs. This averages around 13 hours to max a gun. That’s pretty insane if u ask me.

I have 7506 kills in zombies with the m16 and its lvl 45, my 2nd best gun (74u) has 2861 kills and is only lvl 32
I'm already prestige 2 with 1d 17hrs played, i don't know how acti thought this system would be any good for casuals, dark matter camo should be the main grind not getting your prefered scope/gold for your favourite weapon.

A lot of these points are why I’m waiting for them to balance/fix the game. Would be interesting to see a game do a boost the first three or four games a day for people who have limited time.
Would have loved to seen a breakdown of fireteam, I've been using this mode to rank up weapons, feels faster - although I don't know for fact
I can’t watch the full video at this moment, but I think that zombies makes unlocking issues seem easier because it is based on grinding, not getting killed because you didn’t have attachments
from my small amount of testing if you leave a mp game and you unlocked a camo or ranked up a gun it will give you that reward but at the start of the next game that previous games xp and unlocks will be gone

The problem arises when you get from level 30-40 and then from level 40-55, the XP needed to level up at those thresholds ramp up significantly. It takes a whole day of play to get from 40-55 but you can get from 1-30/40 in the same time.
For zombies there was probably a PlayStation player In you group and gave you some more weapon xp
Nope, all PC. Even if I did I wouldn't get any bonus as I'm on PC. I believe the description of the exclusive just states that playing crossplatform won't "ruin" the bonus the PS players get, not that everyone gets it.
I'm just leveling up everything upto level 30 in zombies then at least I have attachments to use in MP and I'll be able to progress on a few camos at the same time. And I'm not touching snipers and weapons Im not good with untill 2WXP comes in. I think the most efficient strat for both Dark Aether and DM Ultra is to start each gun in zombies reach level 30 then go to MP get the camos challenges you have available done then go back to zombies and finish off back in MP.

That level roll back thing happened to me 2 times in one day. I'd level up I know i saw i unlocked a new sight I'd go in gunsmith to unlock it and it wasn't there did the same with my camos
I decided to take note of my stats at one point in zombies as soon as my gun ranked up because it felt like I was earning no weapon xp later on in a game, it took me 650 eliminations from round 28-34 to go up an entire level. The next game with the same weapon from the start of the game I went up 1 and a half levels with the same amount of kills from round 1-21. I don’t think we get rewarded as well in later game zombies
