Our next guest on the podcast is congress MP from Manipur, Bimol Akoijam. A first time MP, Akoijam used to be a professor at JNU. He has just written a sharply worded letter to the Home Minister and Primeminister on the growing crisis in the north eastern state, where violence has erupted again and 11 people have been killed since 1st September.
This interview puts what's happening in Manipur in the right perspective. Salute to hon'ble MP.

It was a real shocker to listen to Dr. Bimol, who so emphatically explained the real crux of problem like a junior doctor has opened up the ailing body of this Manipur problem before us.
And if the surgeons (our PM/HM) are not coming forward to complete the surgery of this opened up body lying before them, atleast you journalists act as a Head Nurse of this operation theatre and shout out loud & clear to the surgeons to do the surgery.

The timeline of violence that broke out during the so-called Peace Rally, with AK-47 rifles used in Churachandpur, shows that it was preplanned and not spontaneous. They start destroyed many Meitei shops and burned down numerous houses. At that time (May 3, 2023), the Meitei were unprepared, and even the Manipur police did not intervene. If the police had intervened, the rally violence might not have happened. There were no tear gas, no rubber bullets, and even no significant police deployment. A few police personals were present, but there were no orders from higher authorities to stop the violence, so they were just watching. Remember that during that time, the DGP of Manipur was P. Doungel, who is from the Kuki community.

More than 400 guns and around 25,000 bullets looted from Churacanpur Gun House, including over 2,000 of point 3,2 along with a large amount of other ammunition, were also looted on May 3, 2023 around 01:12 PM.

After the violence started by the Kuki in Churachandpur and Moreh, it was eventually retaliated in Imphal. Given all the activities by the Meitei, there was no option but to defend themselves. Guns were looted in Imphal to counter Kuki activities, as helping the police and central forces were unable to control the violence. The question is, are the Meitei anti-national for not allowing the creation of a new country called Zoland or Kukiland, or a separate administration or union territory? Are the Meitei not helping the central forces or police, making it difficult for them to control the situation alone?
Where has the reality of this all been missing from some national media and, especially, from certain leaders in the central forces?
And why are not talk about looted weapons from Churchanpur PS, Shinghat PS, Tengnoupal PS , Kangpokpi PS, Sapermeina PS, Motbung PS etc.?
National media are questioning the Meitei about the looted guns from Imphal, and this is the answer.
Neither the police nor the central forces could stop the Kuki violence against the Meitei, which continued cant blocked, The Meitei had no option; it became a question of survival in their own land.
Now core issues are subsided. ST demand for Meitei, drugs and poppy cultivation by narco terrorist, illegal migrants, etc.

This is why education is important. Kids stay in school!! Couple of noteworthy issues:
1. AR not respecting the authority of the state. e.g 2003 SOO without state's consent, refusing the order of the CM in the current conflict.
2. Weak CM unable to exercise his authority. 1994 Bommai VS Union of India, gives extremely limited scope for central Govt to impose anything on a state legally. So if he wants to stand up and do the right thing, he can.
Strange thing noticed in the current crisis,
1. PM silent for all this time.
2. AR imposing buffer zone thereby enforcing the kukiland demand instead of protecting the state.
3. Current AR not distancing itself from Gen Nair's PR fiasco. I wonder how they sit together the next morning 's meeting.
