I hate the drip, drip, and smell of coolant after a pump starts leaking through the weep hole. But it's a stright forward job, and one can save a lot of cost as a DIY. Good Luck!
Wow crazy . I just got back from my trip . I took the 015 2-Door out and luckily , close to home she threw the serpentine belt . The idlers were dry and wobbly ( aftermarket idlers ) and the belt tensioner was wobbly where the hydraulic cylinder bolts to the bracket , the Teflon washer assembly had disintegrated. Do I got a Dorman tensioner , and those heavy duty steel idlers , and put on a Mopar serpentine belt just for good measure and flushed the coolant … runs like a top now thermo opens at around 224 , 226 F . So yeah just did what you did minus the water pump … hopefully that doesn’t go next all the grooved pulleys were smooth including the water pump pulley . Keeping an eye on things though ( as usual and as you should ) !!!
Nice video, just curious can one change a cambelt or does it need to be done by a pro with special equipment? Did you establish what was the cause of the footwell leak?
The only thing worse than stripped out threads is a snapped corroded bolt. Ya see Jerry things could always be worse. haha You certainly deserved a cigar and beer after doing that fun job! Hope all is well buddy.
I got you to start drinking IPA's and I knew eventually you would come around and become a Corvette owner! Stay away from that Mopar turd!! If you ever have any questions about what to look for in a Vette, you know how to find me. 👍
Did you get charged brokerage fees and duty fees when ordering from the states? Some parts do and some don’t. Shitty when you order a $50 part and a week later get a call saying there is extra charges to get it. 😊
OMG same bro. 1st time replacing water pump in JK same bolt f’ed up thread. Oh, and broken tab. Water pump # 2 (after some time), my helicoil held, but same broken tab. ZIP tie trick for sure. I am on third water pump, second from OEM. Same issues you had. Just did my tensioner pulley a month ago. How many miles you at with your rig? (Or kilometers for you? I am at about 197,000 miles on my 07 JK. (2 nd engine, second transmission) Thanks for the content, and sharing your adventures.
My brother in Christ I have a 2016 JKU, same color even. My guy...where did you get that tach display? Holy hell I had to put a towel down on my chair.
Imagine how boring it would be to own something that never wears or breaks Fu#%n boring … all the true gear heads would be out buying Landys and Jeeps Just to get their fix lol !!! Love working on ‘em curse ‘em if they break out on Safari luckily the Jeep is pretty reliable if you keep up on maintenance and preventative maintenance ie. always looking and hands on … keeps things golden …… usually lol !!!
'74 dodge, '78 ferd, '90 '98 '04 heeps ... Zip ties to the rescue! Works e'erytime! either by bio-degradable plastic or ham fisted -40 electrical work, dang tabs break! and a slather of Silicon Dielectric Grease on contacts and White Lithium Grease to fill larger cavities and You'll be ready to do the "Moses" in puddles.
to answer your question about why the alternator bolts are different sizes? To discourage the guy who might try doing repairs himself! By the way, Dodge and Chrysler are having huge problems selling vehicles because they are expensive and they suck! And anyone who works on them knows it!
Sorry to hear about the water pump. I do have to say that you are the king of one handed box openings 😂
😂🤣😂 thank you
Seems like Engineer Johnny is also responsible for fastener sizing….gotta love it …..
I’d like to know how Engineer Johnny gets his hands on everything

Yeah the smell of burning coolant on a hot surface stinks for sure

I used to build Jeeps... I love the idea, but the reality is very different.
I decided to build on a proven Toyota platform... best choice ever.
Proven to rust out in 5 years around here
Just worked on my son’s jeep today, thermostat shot third time crap. Another great video I have to get off my ass and get busy releasing content.
Yes you haven’t uploaded anything for awhile
I would have sprayed bolt in yellow to make obvious for future.
Gotta run small bolts in by hand into aluminum, no power tools

This engine has timing chains
I see jeep still uses plastic thermostat housings .
Yeah….. not the smartest idea that’s for sure
Why the shit are a couple of pulleys so expensive up there? Is convenience really that much of a markup?
Apparently so, I just shop when my money is best suited

I’ve been eyeing up some Corvettes, when I’ve had enough of the back country I may get a Challenger or a Corvette

Depends where you order from and if brokerage fees and duty is included

😂🤣😂 we share the same suffering as I’m sure others have as well
That is why you named it Shit Show Jerry...😁😁
That is exactly it 🍻🍻🍻
I can just swap out the shit bearings with an SKF bearing? Learn something every day!!
In most pulleys, the factory ones on the jk you can not but the aftermarket you can

Here is a video about it
BEST JEEP WRANGLER MOD UNDER 1500
th-cam.com/video/zWPNm16gd5w/w-d-xo.html
I will not own anything newer then 2005 , I wonder why 😂🤣😅
Like Land Rover lots of moving parts too complicated get used to oil drips maybe Land Rover will go bust again like jeep etc
They will always bust at some point

Zip ties are a mechanics best friend at times for sure
