I just tried M5 Arcus and Coda Marquis for cello. The Arcus was wonderful, Coda unplayable (for me). Coda was very heavy and clunky. I’m now going to try S4 and S5. Maybe I should try the T5. This was a very helpful video.

Das Video lässt ja so gut wie keine Fragen offen. Nur eine wurde nicht gestellt: gibt es funktional einen Unterschied zwischen weißen und braunen bzw. schwarzen Pferdehaaren oder ist das nur eine Frage der Ästhetik?

Bin sehr zufriedener A6-Nutzer (Cello, Amateur), sollte ich irgendwann mal viel Geld übrig haben, würde ich wohl den S8 oder den S9 ausprobieren.

I'm intending to make baritone violins and the like a bigger thing. Portable cello sound, yo!
Bow choice seems more important that with any other instruments due to the short, thick, medium tension strings used exploring the bowable lowest possible notes for the string length. It pushes the boundaries and almost everyone likes the portability of the cello register instrument. And at a lower price, I might add. I will not claim equal sound quality of course.

A friend of mine play one of his violins with those special strings and plays with a normal Arcus violin bow, which works like a charm, as they are much more resilient than wooden bows. If you make them viola size, the Arcus viola bows will probably be the ideal match.

Not for the benefit of the stick, but for the hair, yes.

Since you are so well versed in acoustics, do you have an opinion on human-to-music resonance?
There was a period in my life I just could not stand 440 Hz music. 432 Hz made all the difference. Much more than between a bad bow and a good bow in terms of listening enjoyment ;-)
Does tuning matter to a bow or do they simply produce any frequencies desired?
