My first ever football match. I remember it like it was yesterday. Was gutted when I woke up that morning and heard it might be called off because of the snow. Fantastic atmosphere. I was on the kop and remember the snowballs. Still have all the programmes from all 5 games Inc replays. Exactly 40 years later just watched wednesday draw 0-0 with Luton. The fa cup has lost its magic. Fond memories

Great manager big Jack. Brought us back from nowhere. Loved those days. 3 trips to the balloon covered pitch at Leicester. Eternally grateful to my dad for ensuring I was an owl and not a shithouse from bollocks lane.

I met Pat Jennings and he still laughs at the snowball incident. Great man with a great sense of humour.

Ah I remember this game, cant remember if I threw any snowballs though (I was 19) went to the replay at Highbury and all three at Filbert street. Cost me a fortune & I was on the dole at the time lol. Sure I still have press clippings from the star about the "marathon cup tie".

Shocking commentary . If it had been Liverpool fans throwing snowballs we would have had comments about the "Great Merseyside humour etc"

I was a pupil at chaucer school aged 14,went to the reply at london on the train football special, cost 5 pound, was a night match think it was tuesday, standing there at highbury was bad, they were throwing darts nails golf balls and lots of other stuff over the line of police, what a experience it was,got back about 3 in morning ,mam said where you been ,i said london she said LONDON?on my own too.

Great memories! Went to the Highbury replay-Roger Wilde 1-0 heaven ;we were robbed! All this when the FA Cup mattered. This was the first real 'Big Game' I recall-the previous one was beating Southend 2-1 in our last game in 1976 to avoid dropping into Div 4. Christ we'd fallen. The old boys talking about championship challenges was before my time! Can't believe we've dropped into the 3rd tier for the third time. 75-80 should have been it after Big Jacks rebuilding job.

My 4th home game the first 3 were all 0-0 so the first goal I saw the owls score. Good day. 👍🏻

Yes, it took Arsenal 5 games to beat us, then 5 more to win the cup.
(And Lowey's goal at Highbury should have stood - but how I enjoyed the replays at Leicester)

Anyone else remember big Jack walking towards the Kop to try and get the Wednesday fans to stop throwing snowballs?

Christ how times have changed fr the worst. 3 days later all forgotten about. Today there would be public hangings

If some dropped a sweet wrapper on the pitch today the media would have gone ballistic how things have changed and not always for the good

I was on the cop,15 years old and had twisted my ankle at school the day before.
When we scored i jumped up and my ankle gave way when i landed,i fell under a barrier and god knows how i avoided being trampled by the fans.
WE should have won the replay at Highbury, the ref played well past time (like refs do at man utd when theyre not winning) Any videos on here of the replays?
    Thanks for posting this thaiowl1963.

Soulboy Craig , I was 10 and on the Kop at the front, i got told off by a copper for snowballing Pat Jennings. Claim to fame or what?!

The second, third and fourth replays were held at Filbert Street, because Leicester City had purchased a giant inflatable balloon which kept the playing surface frost-free and protected it from snow and rain. Over 70,000 spectators attended the three games. Did any other club decided to install a similar device after seeing how well it worked for Leicester?

Coventry City's then Highfield Road ground was also considered for the further replays because at the time they had an under-pitch heating system.

Strange that unitedites should mock this given that it is over 86 YEARS since they won a major trpophy...perhaps they should be getting ready for their centenary...I know we will be lol

Jack Charlton, should of been given a stint as England manager.
