Received mine over the weekend and finally had a chance to try it out yesterday. I primarily purchased it to deprime prior to cleaning brass. The unit works great once you have it adjusted correctly. I also purchased the universal case feeder and collator so I can load more brass in the machine at one time. All in I spent approximately $150 with the options.
I have had the press for about three days. Instructions state that it is not for resizing. I tried to resize 9mm with it and had some issues. Winchester brass would pull out of the pass through xpress-shell holder and stick in the die. You can use a normal shell holder to resize, but that eliminates the automation. Also when bulge busting I twisted the handle up quite a bit. The handle is made out of 1/8" steel so is quite flexible, especially since the design is offset and secured with only one bolt through the knob. I also drove a case right through the plastic rail when bulge busting when the slider did not push the case all the way to the center. JB welded back together, with small file and 400 grit sand paper got in back running but not like new. Have new rail on order from LEE Precision.
I now see what all the fuss is about. Very cool setup. I really like my classic turret press but just how quickly your able to size bullets makes it very tempting. Thanks for sharing!
I really like the way this press looks. For depriming I have have been doing something similar with a universal deprimer as the only die on the turret head on a Lee Loadmaster. The only thing that sucks is having to change the turret head between depriming and loading. So this thing looks cool. But the one thing that I thought sucked about this press is the single feed tube and no collator. Thanks for showing that the old four feed tube setup and collator works. This video is the first I have seen those work together. Also, the sales web pages is not clear on what comes with the press, so thanks for showing what comes with it.
Just checked Factory Sales Lee wholesale $ 99.00 deluxe kit BUT there is a primer pocket swagger available for small and large primer pockets. It will be great to have a dedicated progressive case prep machine !
That's the biggest selling point to me to be honest. That and the bullet sizing. progressive decapping and so on is pretty easy to do on the progressive press that I have. Were it not for the swaging function I'd say just spend $100 bucks and get a full progressive press. As is this is a beautiful companion.

You have great timing! I just was notified last night that my back order was available and will ship in a day or so. I want to use mine for resizing bullets. I must say it looks kind of wimpy for resizing bullets, will see how it works. the handle looks so very wimpy and sometimes I have to really work on some sizing of bullets. Thank you for a great video!
I ordered on from MidSouth today. Plan on sizing and depriming my pistol brass on it. I may also size bullets on it. Will also do 30-30 and .308 sizing if I think it can handle it.
So, you inserted a smaller feed tube inside a larger tube because you didn’t want to change the tube holder? Definitely a good idea to use lube for sizing. LEE bashers, try it before you knock it. I’ve not been a big Fan of the LEE presses either. But this press is a winner. It does what it’s designed to do, and quickly.
Good video. Check out the lanolin and alcohol case lube recipe. You can spray your brass down, several dozen at a time. Shake them around in a tub and you’re off and running.
I got one for decapping only. It is faster once I got the thing to operate right. That's right mine was defective right out the box! But I did not expect much from Lee anyway. Again once I fixed the issues it decaps my brass quickly. From there on I use quality tools from other companies that use better materials and have far better quality control.
Can you use the old Lee push though sizer kits on this press? Like install the sizer into a breech lock bushing and use it instead of buying the new "bll bullet sizer" (the one you used in the video)? I mean, sure it won't have a bottle adapter, but if it works that would be great.
Hey brother thanks for the other comment aswell. Yes you can install the older push through sizer. It will have to be on the bottom breech lock as the press handle will go over the top. Cool thing is, if you get some 3/4 inch appliance tubing, you'll have a awesome way to catch the bullets into a container. Hope this video helps. Lmk if you need any help also
ThecrazyScotsman I don't cast bullets but I believe one of the main goals of this press is for lead bullet sizing. I've already done a couple of thousand 9mm decap and resize. I can tell you the only limitation is how fast can you move the handle. With the 4 tube case feeder and collator this press knocks out brass in short order. One drawback is full length rimless bottleneck resizing is questionable. 223 is pretty much a no go because a third of the shell holder is missing to allow the brass to pass through. But I have seen 308 work, I suppose because the base is thicker.
I got the deluxe model and it "DID NOT" come wit h the shell holders or tube reducers, bullet fingers for small calibers. How ever mine is capable of priming? And I like what it can do... but did I get shorted? And what the hell is that riser .53" for it has a hole on both ends, but they are not capable of letting a case slide out ?
Great video! Just ordered the Deluxe kit up today and it already shipped from Titan, should be here in a couple of days. Going to use it mostly for decapping my 45 acp brass. I've got the Lee Classic Turret press, so this will make a great addition to my setup. For $75 bucks, how can you go wrong?
I was looking at the bottle design. Its actually made with thick threading that protrudes 1 hundredths of an inch (~ 3/32) and about as thick as a Gatorade bottle lip. Held up to a full bottle of 240gr Keith 44's and my knee gave it a good smack. For mass sizing I switch to a funnel and clear tubing to a harbor freight ammo box on the floor
will it work to hand feed 45-70 cases instead of using the case feeder tube? Will the slider parts fit the brass ? I would basically use the press for sizing brass, decapping, priming 45-70 brass and sizing lead .460 bullets and if possible gas check bullets
Great video. Also a few on RN as well. Everywhere I look it's on back order. 🧐 where did you get yours? Also waiting on a range camera since early December. 😇
Thank-you! Outstanding press! Love the innovation. About the case feeder supports, found it easier to just have the biggest tube setup to mitigate the hassle of disassembling the support and switching around when sizing cases like 45 ACP then bullet sizing .356. Seems easier and faster just to drop the reducer. The universal case feeder would be a great replacement. As for the cases jamming up on the shell holder, I've found it's due to the cases being inserted slightly tilted. The rim of the cartridge will then hang on the shell holder. Cases need to be fully guided from the bottom
@@EagleEyeShooting Off the App page on the lee website. " Several users had trouble with cases reliably entering and passing through the X-press shell holder. The cause of problem is the shell holder does not freely rotate. When a case with the slightest nick on the rim or extractor groove or any sort of distortion tries to enter the shell holder it binds. The harder it binds the harder the fingers grip the case. We have a solution that completely solves the problem. We have increased the chamfer on the bottom of the X-Press shell holder. This prevents the detent from applying any pressure on the shell holder and allows free rotation in the shell holder adaptor. Remove detent. Until we can fill the pipeline with these new shell holders you can simply remove the detent from the shell holder adaptor (see left). Replace the detent if you are using standard press shell holders or bullet sizer punch. When the shell holder is free to rotate cases will flow like water through the X-press shell holder." Using the tube as a liner is a great idea. We in fact use this on the bullet feeder for our presses. I don't know why we didn't think of it in this application.
@@EagleEyeShooting to reload the 257weatherby magnum is there anything crucial I need that doesn't come with it ? I'm hoping she'll holder and dies is all. But unsure. Any help appreciated. Regards Todd
Hello, can this press be used as a single-stage reloading press? I am a beginner looking for a starting press, and I want to reload 9 mm Luger, .380 ACP and .44 Magnum. Would this be a good choice? I like the idea of having the space for future, more complicated operations once I get the hang of things.
Not recommended. Its more of a processing press to make fast of tedious task like decaping, cast bullet sizing. The shell holder's don't have enough meat to hold the cartridge in place for sizing reliable. Itll rip out of the shell holder
I'm looking to start reloading. Seems to me I could use this as a single stage to do a complete reload? Am I correct in thinking this? Or should I opt for an actual press? I'm also looking at the load master progressive. I'll be loading 9mm and 7.62 for now. Thoughs? Opinions? I want to try to avoid buying more equipment down the road. I know I have the mechanical skills to manage a progressive.
I don't think this press was designed to "resize" brass. It's main use was for bullet sizing, and as a swagger. I've seen people trying to even do full loading and the press is breaking. Decapping isn't even meant for this press either.
I agree with you 100%. I personally would only limit this press to size 9mm, or 40 cal with liberal amounts of case lube. Or dedicate for decapping and bullet sizing
I just received my APP and got everything running good except some 90 gr RN 380 acp bulets that I cast and need sizing. They are so short I can't run any riser. Any ideas. Using the tube just makes it bind up so doing them 1 at a time is my MO.
@@EagleEyeShooting I tried that and when you get more than 10 slugs in the tube the weight spits them out because the riser isn't holding them. Have you run these small bullets?
Full.Lead.Taco Will resize pistol brass from daylight to dark, BUT rimless bottlenecks are pretty much a no go because a third of the shell holder is missing for passthrough of the brass.
Full.Lead.Taco I did hear of a guy doing 308s. Maybe the thicker rim makes it possible to pull the die back off the case, but I tried 223 with a couple of different lubes and got extremely negative results.
I have had the press for about three days. Instructions state that it is not for resizing. I tried to resize 9mm with it and had some issues. @Reloader 308 I just got one of these, and it is seems like a pretty simple procedure for this dumb liberal. Just resized a bunch of my once used Hornady 6.5 brass. Now I need to replace my Lee Loader classic sets with dies for my .303 and 7.62 x 54r. Shot a sub 1" group with the Creedmoor, so I am pretty happy. Also - I mounted my APP on a 5/8" plank of Delrin and there is less wobble than the one in the video, when clamped to my kitchen table with C clamps.
Why did Lee have to complicate the slider mechanism with a plastic finger? That thing didn't work very well for bullet feeding and by looking at it is a finicky part of the feeding operations for this press. Why couldn't Lee just use a regular slider?
I don't think I've ever seen a cheaper looking press. To call such a tiny bundle of sheet metal and plastic "precision" must surely be a misprint. After seeing this 'thing', I would never buy another Lee product again, including dies. Nothing against your video- you did a fine job on it!- But we have to demand a higher level of workmanship for a press than what Lee has now provided. I think it may be a 'Li' nd not a 'Lee'.
I just got mine today, the deluxe version, and i appalled. It doesn’t come with any clear instructions on how to assemble ANY of the components. It says no shelter is required but I don’t see how that’s possible since EVERY SINGLE VIDEO on this tool features the Xpress shell holder, which didn’t even come with my kit! $150 for a tool I can’t use!
Junk... thank god it was only 105 delivered... eBay here we come. Will not process full-length bottleneck cases. From there it is pretty much a standard Lee-P product. Good idea just poor execution. I was trying to use it for 223/7mm tcu/300 blackout and all it did was result in stuck cases. Before anyone asks yes I used lee dies and the proper lube. I contacted their support email and receive the following response. Andy @ Lee Precision Staff - 06/19/2020 2:52 pm The X-PRESS shell holder allows easy automation on the APP press, however, the pass through design reduces the amount of “pull” that can be applied to the cartridge. That said, we do not recommend full length resizing rimless bottle neck cases. If you insist, we suggest using only Lee dies and Lee case resizing lubricant# 90006. Only Lee dies include a built-in stuck case remover in the event you damage a rim and stick a case. Page 3 of instructions: leeprecision.com/files/instruct/PA4336.pdf Sincerely, Andy Lee Precision, Inc. 4275 County Road U Hartford, WI 53027 In my use case it is not useable and will be on eBay in the next hour with a suitable disclaimer....
That thing looks like a Mickey Mouse Setup. By the time you assembled that thing in real time ... I had already completely loaded 500 44 Magnum on my Dillon XL650 with case feeder!
flimsy...like most lee stuff. If you want that plastic to last you better lube it with a plastic-safe grease or spray type lube. Also, the pass-through shellholder only engages a small percentage of the rim, makes for a bad and weak grip.
My concern with this instrument isnt de-capping, My concern is entirely conceptual. Quite the opposite of the tried and true. The flimsy looking stanchions in this case supporting the die using the exponential dimensional in this case ocular formula that used in determining mechanical advantage ratio results in formulaically infearior required values. Ultimately used in determining the accuracy of your overall outcome. For other than decapping you notice LEE doesn't tout SIZING. Ah ha! The APP out come as applied in sizing is unsound. Applying instead of a solid steel machined linear mechanical ram with perfect concentricity, that is what you're paying for, when you buy a Lee Press, you are buying their reputation, their remarkable perfectly machined rams fitted with American levels of craftsmanship. Which is to say uncompromising. Your assured of no runout. They are perfectly fabricated. That is what you pay for. Their single stage to the turret press, down to .00000 Lee is / was in a world of TikTok and growing American mental liquidation perfect concentricity, precise resolution repeated millions of times. This level of precision permits the exertion of a ratio of over 10,000:1 . The App ? Not so much. If you were to have an accident and dropped the APP my concern would be the light of weight constitution of the assembly, When they manufacture a 4 roller bearing die block articulating / arching on a 50LB casting required to reinforce and assure the die meets perfectly the casing well then I would still have my doubts. Occam's Razor.
Ive seen the comments. It looks like a lot of 'Li' salesmen for this Fisher-Price toy for ages 2-6. I'm calling BS on you. Nobody will look at this who knows reloading and say it looks like quality.
So let's get this straight. Your calling "BS" on a video that was purely instructional on how to setup this press and an overview?? Pretty much just verbally read the instructions and only gave 1 opinion which was to utilize their Universal case feeder. So.... Did you actually watch the video or just came to spread negatisim?
Eagle Eye Shooting When you add the 4 tube case feeder and collator is when the press comes to life. Will decap and resize 9mm as fast as you can move the handle.
Thanks, but I don’t understand why people do reviews on things and never mention the cost. Why is this? Are they getting beaten to near death by the manufacturing company? Did big Government pass another law ? Maybe it because men don’t want there wife’s to know what they paid. Strange

Will resize pistol brass from daylight to dark, BUT rimless bottlenecks are pretty much a no go because a third of the shell holder is missing for passthrough of the brass.
@@CM-ve1bz thanks for the info

I did hear of a guy doing 308s. Maybe the thicker rim makes it possible to pull the die back off the case, but I tried 223 with a couple of different lubes and got extremely negative results.
I don't think I'd use it for resizing, just to decap for cleaning and bulletsizing
Damn it's 2020 can someone please make reloading less complicated? I reload myself but why iPhones are so advanced but we cant simplize this
It doesn't have to be complicated. I started with a hand press, beam scale, calipers and a set of dies.
You down with APP? Yeah you know me Echo LOL
Haha! Great minds think alike and have great taste in music 🤙
Us old men music as my daughter says. Great video
Perfect music choice! LOL!
Why did Lee have to complicate the slider mechanism with a plastic finger? That thing didn't work very well for bullet feeding and by looking at it is a finicky part of the feeding operations for this press. Why couldn't Lee just use a regular slider?
Nice video.
Yeah you know me!!
Can't wait to see the mod's .
I'm with you on that! Why I will stick with my rock chuck. First real jamb and I will bend those flimsy arms like a pretzel!

You must be what they call an expert. You know it's not worth a damn and never laid your hands on one.
$150 for a tool I can’t use!
finally!
I am down with the APP. But I am just naughty by nature. 😁😁
Well, I will pass. I will break that thing. Only one that stands up to my abuse has Been the old rock chucker.Thx for vid anyway.
The press looks rather well thought out......but it's still a Lee.
Junk... thank god it was only 105 delivered... eBay here we come.

The X-PRESS shell holder allows easy automation on the APP press, however, the pass through design reduces the amount of “pull” that can be applied to the cartridge. That said, we do not recommend full length resizing rimless bottle neck cases. If you insist, we suggest using only Lee dies and Lee case resizing lubricant# 90006. Only Lee dies include a built-in stuck case remover in the event you damage a rim and stick a case.

In my use case it is not useable and will be on eBay in the next hour with a suitable disclaimer....
Oh no he di unt ...😳🙃
Ho lee shit that’s awesome
Less metal, more plastic, more expensive cool
That thing looks like a Mickey Mouse Setup. By the time you assembled that thing in real time ... I had already completely loaded 500 44 Magnum on my Dillon XL650 with case feeder!
That press has a lot of flex. It may be good for resizing bullets, but I wouldn't trust it with rifle brass.
Resizing bullets?
Oh for cast bullets.
This thing reads like stereo instructions.
Seems like a lot going on...
Looks like you need to lube those rifle cases
Im-press-ive
I think I have a headache
Hahaha! Im sorry Uncle John
You guys sure make it seem simple. I'm just not very mechanically inclined.
Only time will tell, but it doesn't appear to be something that will last.
Looks like a pain in the butt to set up lol
flimsy...like most lee stuff.
Not impressed. What can this do that the Reloader press can't? Oh, yeah, speed. Why? You're still stuck with one-at-a-time reloading.
Looks finicky!
deltaskyhawk
It's not
The only limitation I've found is how fast can you move the handle.
Watched for about 1 min. Junk.
Eagle Eye Shooting
When you add the 4 tube case feeder and collator is when the press comes to life.
Strange
What does gubment have to do anything? Maybe cause cost changes per retailer? Not hard to just look for yourself... has people became that lazy?
Eagle Eye Shooting yea they are that lazy. When it only takes two seconds to say the price.
My guess is about $10.
Farmer Dude357 No price is ever mentioned because everything is free of charge (you have to steal it)
Im confused you day bullet and sometimes cartridge but you show the case. LOL just bbs.
