The fact he was dropped from consideration after his first year of eligibility proves you can't leave it up to the writers, not anymore, especially not in today's social media driven society (and yes, I get that social media wasn't a thing when he didn't get enough votes to stay on the ballot after one year). Too bad he couldn't do back flips or play in New York. And now the old-timer's committee is screwing him. Total injustice.
