    Great down to earth review. Thanks Tom. The performance is really amazing, as expected from the 576hp, 11.4 quater mile. It seems to be designed to eek out the model 3 in this regard. I like having buttons, heads up display, and instument cluster, but i also like Tesla's range, regular software updates, and charging network which seems to be very reliable. Whilst i have in 10 years of driving electric not needed to charge outide of my home, I've likely not done this as it was so inconvenient to do so. Testla have actively tried to solve this problem. Pros and cons for both.

      To each their own with regards to minimalism vs dials
      Agreed, Tesla makes road tripping easier on the Supercharger network. Except for busy holiday periods when there are queues but then again there are queues at the petrol pumps too during those times 🤔

    40% less storage than a model Y in basically the exact same size vehicle is nuts. I don't see why anyone would pay more for so much less of a car compared to some of its competitors. Even a Model Y long range beats this in every respect except off the line acceleration, for $20,000 less and you get a much nicer interior and a much larger range! A $100k car that doesn't even have power seats is an insane rip-off.
    I would rather just get 2 BYD's than this 😂

    So excited for this one! It will be between a model y, ioniq 5 or ev6 for my next car and as much as i will keep loving your content, i really dislike some design decisions with Tesla and love the capacitive touch and screens of the other two.. nice to see this vid

    What’s that rhythmic knocking sound on the freeway Tom? (first few minutes) Is it caused by the expansion joints in the road?

      @@TheMelbournelad Not really, this costs 20k more than a Model Y LR while having less range, 40% less storage, less interior comforts etc... It has faster acceleration going for it and that's it, i mean its a $100k car and you don't even get electric seats.

      @@SirDragonClaw huh? The model y performance is $95300 msrp atm. The Kia EV6 GT is $99590 msrp. Got the model level mixed up there my guy.
      If you mean the model 3 performance that’s $87300 msrp that’s only $12k difference. Not sure where getting $20k figure from?

    This Kia just makes no sense as a purchase option. More expensive, less range, smaller less reliable charging network, less efficient.

      I bought one too instead of a BMW i4 M50 that I had on order. I love the car, great build quality, nice interior and blazing fast. I am also getting much better range than the EPA rating.

    • @thelukashow1665
      @thelukashow1665 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Michael C same Ive been surprisingly getting close to 250 mile range in normal mode, but I do mainly street driving.

    • @michaelc2254
      @michaelc2254 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thelukashow1665Right now my car’s charge level is 80% and the projected range is 210 miles - more than the EPA rating of 206 on a full charge. A full battery should give me 260 miles. I’m sure if you drive with a heavy foot all the time the range would drop like a stone, but it’s just not necessary. I also drive mostly in Normal mode (which is plenty powerful) with occasional bursts in GT (which is insane). I do some 70 mph freeway driving as well. I would have been OK with the EPA rating, the extra range is a very nice unexpected bonus.

      I come from a Lotus driving background, and Colin Chapman said that to get more performance, you SAVE WEIGHT..... Kia factory is already set up to install the (much heavier) and cheaper electric seats on ALL the lesser models, so they aren't saving themselves money, but these dedicated race style seats cost more, and save weight, to possibly compensate for the use of heavier drive motors, and the electric motors for the suspension adaptability and the electric LSD. They are much quicker to adjust than the electric ones, and my partner and I only need to slide forward or back, which takes a second to so...
      The front grill has flaps that OPEN when the car needs to cool the battery, so they ARE needed, Sir - good overall review 😎

    They just can't compete with Tesla's on storage. It just shows how far ahead Tesla are with the engineering refinements. Everytime I think I might consider another EV it loses me because of the poor storage.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea the Model 3/Y storage is very good

    • @SirDragonClaw

    • @mattconstance2196
      @mattconstance2196 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SirDragonClaw I can't find anything to compete with the 3 or Y in their respective classes regarding storage and sure some lomger ranges in other models might be appearing but I would imagine Tesla will equalise that fairly quickly.

    Model Y performance 0-100 is not 3.7s as has been proven by many motoring journalists as Tesla misleads this number and uses 1/4 mile drag formula to produce a lower number. Actual tests for Y performance show 0-100 @ 4.1 seconds so Kia EV6 GT is much faster.

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think Tesla uses 1 ft rollout subtracted for its 0-100kph times across its performance range. For this accel test with the Kia, I also did the same thing ie 1 ft rollout subtracted hence my final table is comparable because they all have the same formula applied to it.
      My friend Roland managed to achieve 0-100kph in 3.8s in his MYP also using the same device as mine (RaceBox) with the 1 ft rollout subtracted: th-cam.com/video/__P7NZKxwns/w-d-xo.html

    • @TheSpyNZ
      @TheSpyNZ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LudicrousFeed Why did you subtract 1ft roll out from Kia when Kia's 0-100 time does not include 1ft roll out calculation and Tesla's does? Kia is faster compared to Tesla by 0.5 second as has been shown by every professional car reviewer...

    • @LudicrousFeed
      @LudicrousFeed  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheSpyNZ Yeah mate no one is arguing that - it’s clear that the Kia EV6 is faster than Model Y regardless of whether you +/- 1 ft rollout
      If you watch it again, the 1-foot rollout for the RaceBox test was applied in comparison to the Model 3 so that both cars had the same formula applied to it
