    Thanks Tony, it was great having you at the showroom, I am so glad you enjoyed the space. Dedicated cinema has been our personal family go to room ever since I started playing with surround sound in my mid teens. To see technology evolve and the extent of what is possible today still blows my mind. For me to be able to help our clients create a special place is what has kept me in this industry for close to 30years. I have upgraded the AV since you came out so plan another trip soon and we can enjoy a movie together, maybe there can be a Part 2?. I am happy to answer questions and I would love to arrange a BM weekend event when we complete the experience centre for you and your fans. Most of all, thanks for being such a great ambassador for the absolute pleasure that is Dedicated Home Cinema.

    Great video! You gave us a treat. I wasn't familiar with most of the equipment, so when he said, "an average room", I got to searching online for approximate budget ranges. I pride myself in having an incredible room for an "average" budget. Respectfully, I don't think that statement was accurate for this room. Achievable? I may be out of touch.

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the "average room" may have been misunderstood a little. What Mick meant by average room was the physical construction of the room as being what the average room is made up of, standard gyprock walls and plaster ceilings. It may not have come across that way but I promise you that is what Mick meant. It's certainly not an average room in terms of the finished product with all the fitout.

      Yes money can get you all the trimmings but when I think back at all the versions of cinema I have owned many of them on very tight budget I always remember the pleasure they gave me, how impressed my family and friends were. So its not always about building the biggest and the best. The simplest way to ensure great home cinema is to think about the important products first. 1 / Centre Speaker, do not cut back here, the bigger the better, this will give you rich vocals and incredible depth, 2 / Subwoofers, you cant have too many, the subs when used well will give you the excitement the textile feel and make you feel great, 3/ Less is best, dont try and put too many speakers in a smaller space, if the speakers are not in the right position dont use them. 4 / Quality over quantity, I would much prefer to have a very good 5.1 than an average 9.4.6 just to achieve channel count.

    Hey, Wouldnt you go with the Krix THEATRIX ? they appear to be the exact same design ( only talking about Left center and right )

    • @AudioBoutique1
      @AudioBoutique1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have used the Theatrix in cinema designs, for our room size the MX40 is as big as we needed to go, this is mainly due to the floor to ceiling height. The Theatrix are really optimised for rooms 7 to 8m minimum, where the MX-40 works very well in rooms from 5.5m. So for us it was more about showing the level you can take a cinema in average size rom.

      @@AudioBoutique1 Hi Mick, Bascially i have a 7.2m long x 3.5m wide. Would you put a Krix PIX or MX30 ? ( don't worry about the cost or Subwoofer ). Which one will give you better sound quality for Left, Center and Right ?
      Regards

    • @AudioBoutique1
      @AudioBoutique1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TechinaSec101 sorry for delay in responding, that’s a really good question, one of the advantages of the Pix is you can adjust the angle of the high frequency horn, we are doing a project at the moment with the pix in a large room where the speakers have to be mounted higher and the angle adjustment was needed. Both will give excellent sound quality, the pix need to be bi-amped with external crossover, the MX30 have built in crossovers and utilise single channel per LCR. The Pix for what they are are excellent value and if the adjustability is an advantage they would be my pix.. see what I did their? Do you still want to create the infinite baffle? Will the subs still be in the front stage? The room itself depending on the ceiling height, the type of amplification and processing, how you plan on treating the room would really be needed for me to understand the space better. With your room side reflections will need to be managed, so information is directed to listener. Hope this helps, I know I am a little on the fence but reality is both will work, its the room that would sway me one way to the other. Cheers

    Hi Tony,
    Love your work, I’ve built 2 home theater setups so far, first one was 30 years ago installed in a family room with a old school TV it was a $900 Mitsubishi 80cm tube TV 😳. finally upgraded to a Mitsubishi rear projector the system had a Krix centre channel speaker and Anaki fronts and rears. My next home 20 years ago i built a dedicated 7m x 5 m cinema room. Over the next 20 years the system was upgraded many times from 7.1 to 7.1.4 Sonus Faber speakers. The 720p Yamaha projection then to 1080p Panasonic to eventually 4k Sony, cabling from component cabling to HDMi. Both systems featured in the sound and magazine over then years.
    Recently purchased a property so my next project planning has commenced looking to return to Krix after 30 years, MX10 up front and Phonix rears and sides.
    Your channel has inspired me.

    Since I've never experienced a high end cinema room for myself, I'm curious if it makes you think less of your room, or does it make you appreciate your room even more?

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those thoughts never entered my mind. I love my room and how it sounds and didn't even think to compare it. This room was like being in the cinema, big big sound. I see it like cars. I can love my car while still appreciating someone else's car even if it cost more doesn't diminish my own.

    • @TerminatorJuice
      @TerminatorJuice 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuildMontage Let me ask this then... Did you hear a major difference, that was equivalent to the price difference, between your room and that Hero Room? I would think that there has to be a point where the law of diminishing returns comes into play with audio equipment, but I never really heard any high end systems to compare with mine... But I do know that the difference between my $700 living room audio setup and my $5,000 audio setup in my theater room isn't a big as I would hope it would be.

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TerminatorJuice I'll say when you listen to a high end room that has been done properly, it will make sense. My room wasn't exactly cheap to put together by any means, but here, we are talking Trinnov processor, separate amps, lots of $$$ on products and electronics - it all adds up. As Mick says in the video, you can get an experience like this one for as close to what your budget can afford. I think diminishing returns exist but this is not really applicable in the case of this demo room. It shows what marrying the best products together and good design can achieve. I'm not sure how to answer your question or give you an answer that you would appreciate unless you actually experience it for yourself and see if you think it makes a difference. The speakers alone produce the type of audio that is out of this world and not in the same realm as normal tower speakers. Some would be happy with far less, but some want to create the most immersive experience possible, and this shows you what you can achieve if you have the money and determination.It's like anything... Choice is a wonderful thing, and what we individually prefer determines how far we go when it comes to things like this. Having heard Trinnov, I would love to have one in my room. Can I afford one? No... my Denon does a fine job and I'm very happy with my room. I don't think less of my room because I heard one better... that logic doesn't compute to me.

    • @TerminatorJuice
      @TerminatorJuice 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuildMontage When I said "think less of your room" I didn't mean it as you think your room sucks now... I was basically asking if there was something you heard in the Hero Room that jump out at to you as something that you would like to achieve in your room someday.... For example, in 2008 I did a theater room upgrade for a guy who had had a much bigger room than mine, and I was blown away by the separation of the audio channels and how clearly I could hear things coming from behind me in a movie with a 7.1 mix. Now I still loved my room, but after experiencing that amazing channel separation, I was inspired to try to achieve something close to that in my small room... Something I'm still chasing to this day! Lol

    • @AudioBoutique1
      @AudioBoutique1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TerminatorJuice when you get a home cinema right the experience is amazing no matter what the price point of the product is, the room dimensions are so important, if you have the right space and can treat that space, any equipment will preform, the focus should be the SPL’s making sure the speakers have some headroom so they are never struggling. As you move up in the equipment level food chain, add in some amazing processing like the Trinnov you are able to fine tune the room to suite your personal tastes. This level of equipment just gives pin point accuracy, total immersion and textile response so your entire body is living the experience. But the differences are not night and day, they are subtle, refined improvements that make you smile, but not to the point that you can no longer enjoy other rooms. We had a client come in for an audition after I had done some more calibrations in our Hero Room in the video, he commented to his wife, “wow, even at movie watching sound levels we could whisper to each other and still hear each other, the sound is just present but not over whelming, you can have it loud and its not fatiguing” I think that was one of the best complements I have had, you are in total control, at loud levels it is exciting, but not tiring, and at low levels you don’t loose the detail and presence of sound, it is still immersive. I have been in rooms a fraction of the price that have blown me away able to achieve very similar results, I think the care and attention to the detail by the room owner or installer can make the biggest difference. Cheers and thanks for the insightful questions.

    Amazing room and review! What was the reason for swapping the Elektra to Parasound for the LCR?

    • @AudioBoutique1
      @AudioBoutique1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s an easy question to answer, there is such a shortage of electronics at the moment that i had to allocate one of our amps to a client, so I moved the Parasound that I had in another demo room over to our hero room to complete the rack. The MX40 are bi-amped so we need 6 amps to drive the wall the 2 Parasound A-31 serve that purpose, they have more power than the Electra but in reality there is no discernible difference in performance since I changed. The main requirement is to achieve correct SPL at above reference level which both the Electra and Parousound achieve.

      So you didn’t hear the reasoning or that a barco is going in early next year? Or you just decided to ignore it? Genuine question.

      I would not call a $23,000 projector cheap, but as we built an entire showroom consisting of 3 cinema’s 3 Audio rooms, training centre living rooms and working kitchen and bathrooms this was the best I could do, we also have installed the MadVR Video Processor and the image is stunning. I do have a Barco Balder coming in January for the room, but after seeing the MadVR / Sony combination I am questioning if we need it? Who am I kidding, of course I need it 😉

      @@AudioBoutique1 15k these days. If I didn't need to buy a house, I would love to have y'all set up my living room home theater.

    Terrible attitude comes across with the clicking and pointing demanding. Puts you off watching.

      Really? Mick is one of the nicest people you could encounter in this industry and being of southern European descent (like myself!) we often talk and communicate with our hands.
