As someone who is from the Midwest, I am completely with Stephen on this one. It makes the week look and feel neater. It also depends on you occupation a bit sometimes, but overall having the weekend be the transition between weeks is lovely. I also have never to my knowledge heard of the week starting on a Monday. "Soorry" Mal. 😅
So I do fully agree with Stephen on the weekends being like bookends. Mal's school giving her agendas with Monday as the beginning of the week makes sense because Monday *is* the beginning of the week - the *school* week, as opposed to the calendar week. If Mal meant the monthly calendar started on Monday, then I'd have questions.
"Wednesday would be on Monday, Thursday would be on Saturday, Cats and Dogs, LIVING TOGETHER! Mass hysteria!" That's where that line went in my mind. Also my work week begins on Monday, therefore, the week begins on Monday.
Stephen, as much as I am normally #TeamStephen, Mal is 100% correct. It's crazy to me to start the week on a Sunday, the work week denotes the beginning of the week. But hey, as long as you understand the calendar that's all that matters lol
I'm with Mal, Monday is the start of the week. Sunday is still the last day of the current week, so it's not the start of the new one! As far as I know, that's usually the case here in Europe.
My Cousin Vinny is one of my favorite comedies! The performances across the board are immaculate and the quotability is just out of control. I love that the vlog where it's mentioned ends with the defense and prosecution both presenting their impassioned arguments for the definition of a weekend.
Saturday and Sunday weekends, whereas Monday to Friday are considered as weekdays, therefore I'm with Mal on this one. Monday is the start of a week, while Sunday is the end.
If memory serves Jon had the same discussion and in conclusion Sunday is the beginning of the week because hump day is the middle of the week aka Wednesday and nobody debates that. At least I'm fairly certain that's how it went.
I agree with Mal. Since we refer to Saturday and Sunday as "The Weekend"(singular) and not "The Weekends" (plural) they are the end od the week and not the ends of the week. This means that the week ends with Sunday and thusly begins with Monday. Or something like that idk
To piggyback off Mal's point about the school agendas. In kindergarten, I vividly remember we learned a jingle of the days of the week in English and Spanish. And we started with Monday/Lunes! But to be fair, I too come from the Midwest. So maybe you're onto something, Stephen 😂
nah its not a midwest thing. if anything bible belt would probably feel more strongly on this matter, since Jesus supposedly rose again on the 7th day "Sunday".
man I don't know I'm used to the Sunday-Saturday calendars but I internalize Monday as the start of the week 😬 Putting Monday at the start of a calendar feels so w r o n g
My Cousin Vinny is one of my Dad's favorite movies. I could take or leave most of it (comedy movies just aren't my thing), but ending trial sequence is EXCELLENT.
my planner starts the week on monday and i prefer it that way for a planner and brain organization but i do think the weekend are like bookends, or like, a sandwich. it just feels wrong to open the week with the meat and potatoes of it all. and having sunday at the start makes it feel even, equal, and not like a weird hanger on to saturday
Monday has always been the start of the week to me, and I'd never previously understood why anyone would say it's Sunday (beside religious reasons at least). I totally get Stephen's argument though, and now I can see it both ways, but I would still agree with Mal. Speaking of 90s comedies, have you both seen Groundhog Day? It's right up there amongst my favourite films of all time.
I like my weekend to be at the end of my week, not the start and end of my week. That's one thing I wish Canada had taken from England instead of the US.
@@Fooseeker No, they're the end of the week. Monday is the beginning of the week. I don't believe in Stephen's bookends approach. There is a start of the week, and an end of the week. They aren't both ends. In that case, they would be weekends. Y'know, like bookends. But no, it's a weekend, singular. Two days, encompassing the end of the working (and school) week, before it starts up again on Monday.
Stephen: “We’re not getting into this right now”
PROCEEDS TO IMMEDIATELY GET INTO IT
Sunday and Saturday are like bread on either side of the sandwich 🥪 I agree with Stephen 😊

THE FRIDGE LMFAOO 💀 it being absolutely drowned in fridge magnets lol
Breakfast Stream truly is a learning stream! It's been a staple of my Tuesdays and Thursdays since early 2019!
Saturday is the end of the week!!! That’s why calendars are like that
So I do fully agree with Stephen on the weekends being like bookends. Mal's school giving her agendas with Monday as the beginning of the week makes sense because Monday *is* the beginning of the week - the *school* week, as opposed to the calendar week.

Have to agree with Stephen on this one. Sunday starts a new week.
"Wednesday would be on Monday, Thursday would be on Saturday, Cats and Dogs, LIVING TOGETHER! Mass hysteria!" That's where that line went in my mind.
Also my work week begins on Monday, therefore, the week begins on Monday.
I used to be a “Monday is the first day of the week” person, but calendars have worn me down, and the “weekends are bookends” is the biggest thing
My pill container says Sunday is the start of the week.
Mine says it is Monday. Fight me.
Kitties are so adorable 🥰
Sunday is the beginning. Period.
Sunday and Saturday both start with S so I think it looks better to have them at the beginning and end
Weekends are like bookends, the front cover doesn't go on the back of the book.
Visually, my calendar starts with Sunday, but I still firmly believe that it is the end of the week.
So glad you watched My Cousin Vinny! It is an absolute delight
The level of commitment to the bit is something I really value in comedies. It’s like Spinal Tap genuinely being a pretty decent band.
Stephen, as much as I am normally #TeamStephen, Mal is 100% correct. It's crazy to me to start the week on a Sunday, the work week denotes the beginning of the week. But hey, as long as you understand the calendar that's all that matters lol
7:09 priceless reaction. I knew that would get a rise out of him 😊
Personally, the start of the week is Monday bc I work on the weekends.
Sunday is one of the weekend days, so they are at the end!
Venser is so cute. He is such a good boy. So is Likia.
I'm with Mal, Monday is the start of the week. Sunday is still the last day of the current week, so it's not the start of the new one!
As far as I know, that's usually the case here in Europe.
my work operates as Mon-Sun and I hate it. I'm team Stephen here.
Stephen is right. Sunday is the first day of the week. Weekends are like bookends where you have one on each side of the week
My Cousin Vinny is one of my favorite comedies! The performances across the board are immaculate and the quotability is just out of control.
I love that the vlog where it's mentioned ends with the defense and prosecution both presenting their impassioned arguments for the definition of a weekend.
"Austin is around sometimes due to.....flying" is such a confusing sentence to anyone who doesn't know Austin is a pilot.
Monday begins the week.
I had the same burger Mal got and I absolutely loved it

It's weekend, singular, not weekend*s*. It's one end, at the end chronologically, not two ends like a piece of string
Mal is right, Stephen. 100%
man I don't know
I'm used to the Sunday-Saturday calendars but I internalize Monday as the start of the week 😬

I think like Stephen 😂
As someone whose off days are Thursday & Friday I am CACKLING at this debate 😂
my planner starts the week on monday and i prefer it that way for a planner and brain organization but i do think the weekend are like bookends, or like, a sandwich. it just feels wrong to open the week with the meat and potatoes of it all. and having sunday at the start makes it feel even, equal, and not like a weird hanger on to saturday
Really think the weekend is the end of the week. It's also called the Weekend, not the Weekend(s)
#TeamMal 🤣
I’m unreasonably disappointed that this vlog was not titled “Oh No, My Cheese”
Also, I’m with Stephen on the Sunday debate
Monday is the start of the week. Yes calendars say otherwise but having a weekend at the end of the weeks makes sense in my mind
Sunday is the weekEND. End of story.
still went into the day talk xD
Here to say I'm team Mal
I'm with Stephen on this one. Saturday and Sunday are the bookends of the week. :P
Sunday is the end of the week.
im with mal on this one, the weekend should be at the *END* of the week not split and but at the begining and ending of a week.
Monday has always been the start of the week to me, and I'd never previously understood why anyone would say it's Sunday (beside religious reasons at least). I totally get Stephen's argument though, and now I can see it both ways, but I would still agree with Mal.

Monday is start of the week but my calendar is still on sunday at start just cuz that's vanilla lol
I love my cousin Vinny it's a phenomenal movie.
Very similar to trial and error if you've ever seen that one. (Has one of the Seinfeld actors in it)
There are two types of people. People who think Monday is the start of the week and people who are flat out wrong
Mal is right. Sunday is the end of the week. 😤😂
What kind of weirdass calendar do you guys have???
Sunday is part of the weekend. The week*end*
@TheVeyron623 yeah it is one end. The other end is Saturday. Together they are the weeks ends or weekend
@@Fooseeker No, they're the end of the week. Monday is the beginning of the week. I don't believe in Stephen's bookends approach. There is a start of the week, and an end of the week. They aren't both ends.

I am 100% with Mal, Monday is the start of the week. It's called the weekEND, why would one of the days be considered the start of a new week?
I might have to agree with Mal on Monday being the start of the week (sorry Stephen)
Monday is the start of the week, you silly boy.
Stephen they don’t put “The End” at both ends of a movie! 😂
(Obligatory disclaimer that I have no opinion on the Sunday/Monday-start-of-week debate!)
Stephen is wrong Monday is the start of the week.
hi StephenVlog
While correctly, Sunday is the start of the week, I have to disagree. Monday is the start of a week. Sunday is the end of the weekEND.
Laika: I plead the fifth
#teamMal
According to the International Organization for Standardization, Monday is the first day of the week
i am team sunday is last day of week
not that I'm religious, but Jesus would tell you that Sunday is the 7th day. :P also how can it be the end if its the beginning.
hello...im very early 😅
