  • How to fill out the IRS Form W4 for two jobs. If you had a job and changed jobs then you should fill out the IRS form W4 as two jobs. If you have two jobs currently then you should fill it out as having two jobs. Add up all the jobs you had or have in 2021 and that is the number of jobs you should enter in the IRS form W4 online estimator. It will be as accurate as possible using the online estimator.

    I just picked up a new wage job. My first job of 16 years is my primary job and the new job is part time. The part time job Is asking to fill out a W4. Do I need to fill out the multiple jobs part? Can I just submit 2 W4’s at the end of the year when I file? I’m not even sure how long I’ll stay at the part time job. Seems like a hassle to just submit to both employers. I don’t want to screw up anything on my primary job’s withholdings.

    Hi can you please help me understand the following: What exactly is the purpose of withholding an additional amount on the higher-paying job's W4? Is it taking the higher-paying job's salary and applying it against the true tax bracket allocation that both jobs together now put you in? Or, am I paying my smaller salary job's taxes on my higher paying job's W4? Or, is this a total incremental fee I'm paying for holding two jobs?

    • @NiaMSnow
      @NiaMSnow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      She can fill it out as normal. As your tax refund would reflect her as your dependent. If she has two jobs she can just select single, 0 dependents and fill it out normally. Most w4 forms have a chart on the backside to follow to inform which amount to put down. Or she can just ask her human resource director how to fill it out. Most of them will tell you.

    This is what the form says ….
    Complete Steps 3-4(b) on Form W-4 for only ONE of these jobs. Leave those steps blank for the other jobs. (Your withholding will be most accurate if you complete Steps 3-4(b) on the Form W-4 for the highest paying job.)

    If somebody has two jobs, and they don't want to disclose it to each employer? In this instance, do we need to sign W4 for each? And will any of the employer know about the other via W4? Or they just see that the income is changed, but don't know the reason why?

    • @NiaMSnow
      @NiaMSnow 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You technically don't have to share anything with your employers. I've noticed in my case that in the past when one job finds out about another they decrease hours. So when it comes to taxes you don't HAVE to inform them either that you work 2 jobs especially if you plan on not working the 2nd job for that long. It has its benefits because your refund check is bigger.
      Just speaking from my experience otherwise follow what the video says.

  • @brizeemae619

    I'm so confused. So last year (2021) I got a new job (Job B) bc my hours decreased at the one I was working at (Job A). Last year I worked full time at Job A until about the middle of October. I then started working full time at Job B and dropped down to PRN (meaning "as needed") (I'm a nurse) at Job A. I didn't have any federal tax withheld for job B from its start to the end of last year bc it was the end of the year. Now it's March 2022 and I realized while doing my taxes that need to change the federal tax withheld info for the w4 of Job B. I am still employed by Job A but it's just PRN (as needed) and most weeks I don't work any hours there. I want to know do I list two jobs on the w4 for Job B? And do I do the same on the w4 for Job A for this year? PRN is lower than part time. It basically means I pick up shifts when I want to so I don't expect to earn a lot of money from Job A this year. I'm concerned that if I list two jobs on the w4 for Job A that too much federal tax will be withheld. On the form it says to list two jobs if the wages are similar but I don't know what this means. I also usually carry one dependent which is another reason why I need to update the w4 for Job B. Please help!

      @@felainemadrid1066 so I decided to just change my dependent info on the w4 for Job B (I didn't have a dependent listed before) because I read that if you file head of household you don't need to file income tax on an earning of $5,000 or less and I don't really think I'll earn that from Job A within the year. I don't pick up shifts that often for that agency and the visits I do pick up are only about $55 for the hour. Even if I do pick up a 12 HR shift for them here and there I'd prob only make a gross of $300 for the shift. I just feel if I report two jobs on the w4 for Job A, too much federal withholding will take place unnecessarily. I hope this helps you. Being an adult is so confusing sometimes lol
