  • I will show you the simplest way of how you can polish the edge of glass without diamond tips and special cutters.
    This procedure can be carried out even at home.
    You will need a sander and a clamp (clamp).

    I was impressed with your straight cuts without using a physical straight-edge !! Thanks for sharing. My wife (Jackie MacDonald) is a full-time artist and she's been working with glass for a long time. We make wall hangings with fused dichroic glass mounted on a sheet of clear glass. We get the edges of the sheets polished by the supplier, but I've started to drill the mounting holes through the glass myself. Maybe we could make further savings by trying your polishing method. Best wishes from New Zealand.

    I work at a glass shop and make the window units and some of the bigger units for store fronts when there made out of lami...I can say that man pushed hard as hell to make them cuts🤣🤣🤣 other then that pretty good video but if u have the glass most glass shops will run it through there polishing machine for 20$ or so u just have to know how much to add to your cut(we add 3/16) overall and it comes out on point

    How do you control the heat buildup from the sanding? Too much heat and the glass may shatter.

    • @FakeWorkerAmerica
      @FakeWorkerAmerica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      in my practice, there were no such cases.

    • @TechmateSiddharth
      @TechmateSiddharth 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think orbital sander doesnt create so much heat compared to maybe an angle grinder. I have seen both cases

    This is really hazardous :/ inhaling glass dust, and having it in your space like this leads to silicosis. Inhaling glass dust causes irreparable harm!

    • @crahn3280
      @crahn3280 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Not true. Silicosis is caused by crystalline silica with a size of around 10-30 microns. Glass is amorphous and does not contain crystals. Glass dust is a bad irritant, but short exposure like this will not give you silicosis. That being said, it’s still best to wear a P100 respirator.

    This is not DIY !!

    • @sampletext3433
      @sampletext3433 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Well if you don't know how to use a sandpaper machine, glass cutter, and this type of home workshop equipment then I guess it's not diy. If diy is your concept of warm-gluing wooden sticks and cartoon then cool stick with it. Real DIY is having a basement/garden workshop and doing reall woodwork stuff

    • @FakeWorkerAmerica
      @FakeWorkerAmerica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      DIY is a type of activity in which people independently produce or restore any products for their own use.
      Everything that is not made in industrial production is DIY. And this is not only woodworking or glass cutting - this applies to any field of activity: music, literature, cinema, design, construction, the list is endless ....

    • @FakeWorkerAmerica
      @FakeWorkerAmerica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do it yourself is almost a philosophy, the main components of which are self-education, the acquisition or improvement of skills. So I don't need to talk about what DIY is.

    • @joelg4849
