The amount of times that I have spent hours building a house and then had to delete it and start over because it was flat is insane. This made me so mad to see that I couldve just used the cheat for that all along. Damn it. Thank you for the tutorial!
Brilliant fix. I haven't played TS3 in years, but I needed a break from TS4, so I returned to TS3, but my save files were on another computer, so I was trying to build a new house and had terrible problems with the terrain. This worked like a charm. I remember having similar issues in the past, but just worked around the terrain, often with less than ideal results. This fix was so simple, but so effective. Thank you.

Can you please make a tutorial, or tips, on how to place windows? My buildings always look decent but once I start placing windows, I ruin everything..

NB!: If you use this cheat you have to manually place each countertop etc again so that they level with the new terrain you altered, same with some other furniture, and also if you have an overhang on the second floor, i had to delete parts of it along with fences in order to straighten it. (i noticed it when my second floor balcony table and chairs couldn't be placed again in the same spot after using the cheat, and also zoomed out and saw the actual second floor overhang was all bent out of shape). Just be mindful of this if anyone use this cheat after having made a house and placed furniture. Anyways great tutorial!. :- )
I don't know if you've done this before but I have an idea. You build a house without furnishing it and let the subscribers do the interior and then show you the result. Maybe you could make a game out of it and let everybody vote for the best interior design and the winner wins something or something like that. I think that would be fun. //Dude from Sweden!

Thanks, James! :) Long question incoming, if you don't mind, lol. How can I flatten a lot in which I've used LOTS of CFE already? For eg., I have a 64x64 lot and the house on it is MASSIVE, with just around a 6-8 tile gap on all four sides (in short, the house is something like 56x56!). I've used CFE for curved arches, split levels, weird roof sections, you name it. I've got a couple of uneven sections on the ground which causes puddles and a few building problems. When I level the entire 64x64 lot on the ground floor without turning CFE on, it of course shows those red squares in some places. So if I level the ground after turning CFE on, won't it screw up all those things I did using CFE (arches, split levels, etc.)? Or will those be fine since it's just a minor change to the ground? Should I be leveling on another floor? I'm afraid to do it and mess up. Plus, just doing it and checking what it has altered would take ages, since there's quite a bit of CFE I've used...
I made a four story Victorian house, was finished and about to move my sims in and all of a sudden my terrain moved up to the top of my structure foundation. 😢 I cannot get it to flatten the lot, or even just even out. The lot was flattened before I built it, I had the garden decorated, though that’s all gone now, and the back porch stairs are gone. Nothings working please kill me.
didn't know that the game does that o.O i mean it's placing walls without being flat... that's the main issue i think :D sims... we'll never understand it :D
How can you do this without cheating? Because I have this problem on my PS3 game and we can't type in cheat codes. Level terrain button does not work and I can't switch lots because I will lost all my plants :(
another annoying bug , we can call it like that... are those freaking jiggs of actions that for the life of me don't know from where they come. they are only seen by buydebug and won't let you build or put anything in that place.
So for those who are having issues putting a roof on there house, due to not being able to go up a level to see the second floor. I personally, i made a costume house design that was not squared, and for what ever reason it would not let me put a roof, or even see the second level at all. So i had to take down the walls and make it square to put a roof. Hope this helps.
